Policy G: Take it from me!

In Policy G: Take it from me! Episode #7, Susan shares her thoughts around the simplicity of Policy Governance, and offers up the "Policy Governance Plus" class of alternative governance models. Susan then shares some advice around the formation of an Ethics Committee of the Board, and outlines the "ORID" or Focused Conversation Method developed by the Institute for Cultural Affairs (ICA).

In Episode #6 of Policy G: Take it from me!, Susan delves into the concept of hierarchy, and the common complaints associated with hierarchy that are resolved through the use of Policy Governance principles. The episode then wraps up with three suggestions for boards that want to foster a more collaborative atmosphere.

Susan and Rob discuss the problem with how the phrase "it's political," is used, zoom in on how corruption unfolds, and outline three ways Policy Governance principles help to mitigate and/or identify corrupt activities.

Episode 4: In this episode, we hear of past efforts to broaden understanding and acceptance of Policy Governance concepts, illustrate the challenges of "Approval Syndrome," and share tips for boards wanting to avoid a never-ending "Mother May I?" approach to governance.

Susan shares a story about egos on Parliament Hill, clarifies the "one voice" concept, and provides boards with a few suggestions re: facilitation and group decision-making skills.
