Learning The Strength of Vulnerability; a Raw & Real Interview with BU Sophomore Member; Kellee Cameron
What does it mean to be 'strong'? If you asked Kellee Cameron this a few years ago the answer may have focused mainly on physical strength, perseverance, and moving forward at all costs - often to the point of burnout. This approach to life has led to many successes for Kellee. She is a successful small business owner, as well as a highly decorated and awarded athlete in the field of competitive bodybuilding.
However, sometimes achievement and happiness don't go hand in hand. Reaching a point of burnout, alongside mental health struggles within her family, led Kellee to connect with us at BU and to begin learning more about her mind and emotions. Now, Kellee is on a journey of changing her definition of what it means to be strong. She's learning to embrace vulnerability, she's developing the skills to manage her mind and emotions more effectively, and she's stepping up as a leader to spread this positive ripple effect to the people she leads as a PT and fitness industry professional.
If you're a bit of a high achiever who feels the pressure to always 'have your shit together' then this is a fantastic episode to listen to.

Freeing Yourself From the Hedonic Treadmill
GET OFF THAT TREADMILL!
No not the one at the gym, the one your mind has been stuck on for way too long.
The Hedonic Treadmill, aka the "I'll be happy when" trap, is one of the most common causes of dissatisfaction in life. In today's episode I'm sharing exactly what the hedonic treadmill is; and how you begin freeing yourself from it.

The Proximity Effect (30by30for30)
"We are the average of the 5 people we spend the most time with"
This saying, and others like it, have become somewhat of a cliche in the world of personal development. However, there's a lot of truth to them.
Have you ever hung around someone for long enough that you began talking like them? Ever found yourself enjoying a new hobby when you're dating someone new? Say hello to the proximity effect.
In this episode I'm sharing what the proximity effect is and how you can leverage it to accelerate your personal development.

A Firsthand Insight Into Over 4 Years of Growth with BU Member Kaitlin Pell
When we first connected with Kaitlin Pell it was during the Port Macquarie stop of our Finding Emotional Freedom Tour. In that chapter of her life, Kaitlin was struggling to manage her mind and her emotions and she was blaming the world for it. In an on-the-spot decision that would end up shaping her development for years to come Kaitlin decided to trust her gut instinct, take action on the green light decision that equally scared and excited her, and enrol into the Happiness College at BU.
Now, years later, Kaitlin is absolutely thriving. She continues to grow, develop, learn and expand with every passing month and she is a fantastic example of just how much your happiness can change when you choose to prioritise it.
If you've listened to the show for a while and wondered whether or not the Happiness College is right for you then this is a fantastic episode to listen to.

The Value of Daily Micro-Goals (30by30for30)
Not another goal-setting episode! Oh yes, this overdone topic is back for another round. However, it's coming back with a twist.
Rather than focusing on big goals that only end up leaving you feeling overwhelmed and exhausted we are exploring the concept of micro-goals.
Too often people focus on giant leaps in their personal development when in reality it's the little steps adding up that make the world of difference.
If you want to make big changes in your life, but you want to do it sustainably and one step at a time - then this is the episode for you.

Victim vs Victor Mentality
And just like that, we have our first requested topic of the season!
One of our avid listeners has reached out to us and asked us to explore "victim vs victor mentality" on the show.
If you've been learning about personal development for a while you've likely heard about these concepts before however you may not know how to implement them in a healthy way.
That is exactly why we are going to explore the healthy expression of victim vs victors mentality in today's episode of BU with Declan Edwards

Putting Down the Mask
Have you ever felt like you're playing a role in life? Feel like you're disconnected from your true self?
If so, you're not alone. A lot of people unfortunately get stuck in the cycle of being a human chameleon. They go through life being what everyone else wants them to be instead of being authentic to themselves. Eventually, they're not even sure who they are anymore.
This is precisely what led me to start my own Coaching journey back in 2012. In this episode of the show I share how I began to reconnect with myself, how I started putting down the masks I was wearing, and how I learned how to live a more authentic life.

Green Light Theory (30for30by30 Challenge)
Welcome back one and all to Season 5 of the show!
What a way to kick it off this season! Today we are talking about the green light theory. This is the exact strategy that I use to overcome overthinking and analysis paralysis. It's also a perfect strategy to help you make better decisions in life.
Sometimes people think I'm kidding when I say that this technique is what led me to get married, start BU and move into a tiny home; but I'm 100% serious.
So if you want to learn how to get out of your head and follow your gut instinct then this is the perfect episode (and challenge) for you!

Taking Responsibility for Your Happiness
Buckle up because this episode is a bit of a truth bomb.
Your happiness is no one's responsibility but your own.
Too often I see people falling into the trap of gambling their happiness on someone, or something, else and then blaming them when they're not happy.
Your job won't 'make' you happy, your relationships won't make you happy, more money won't 'make' you happy. All of these things can help to contribute to your happiness but at the end of the day, your happiness is your responsibility.
This doesn't mean that you can't ask for help. It means that you're OK with taking the pilot's seat in your happiness journey.
If you feel like a co-pilot, or a bystander, when it comes to your own happiness in life. This is the episode for you

SPECIAL EPISODE: Explaining the Radio Silence + a Temporary Farewell
In this special episode of the show, I wanted to be raw, real and honest with you all. Despite having an amazing year with the show expanding into 13 countries and experiencing a 70% growth in listeners I've been feeling disconnected from the show for a few months now.
This is why there hasn't been a new episode for over a month and it's also why I've decided to let go of the show for the time being and take a step back. It takes a lot of effort, time and energy to make this show a reality and lately it's felt more like an obligation than a joy.
When I sat with this decision I realised it was a green light move (equally scary and exciting) for me to let go.
However, this isn't goodbye forever. My intention at this point in time is to take the next few months to reconnect with why I started a podcast in the first place. In that time I'll be exploring the key messages and themes I want to bring back to the show as well as lining up some incredible guests.
I'll also be developing a brand new show 'Working Well with Declan Edwards' to complement BU with Declan Edwards. Where BU with Declan Edwards will continue to focus on personal development and wellbeing, our new show 'Working Well with Declan Edwards' will focus on workplace wellbeing and what it takes to create a culture of thriving and happiness at work.
Season 4 of BU with Declan Edwards and Season 1 of Working Well with Declan Edwards are both going to be launch in late March 2021.
In the meantime please feel free to catch up on any episodes of the show that you've missed or to connect with me personally on Facebook and Instagram (@declanedwards_bu) as I'll be utilising these platforms to continue growing global wellbeing, one mind at a time.
Until next year, thank you for being a part of this journey and listening to the show.

But what happens if you just don't like meditation? If you've tried it and you can't stand it?
In this episode, we dive into how people can begin meditating if they hate meditation. We provide some handy tips about making meditation fit your life rather than the other way round. And we reveal two of the most valuable mindset shifts someone can make if they want to start enjoying meditation.

Wizards of Wellbeing Season 3, Episode 1: Psychology Is Not a Dirty Word - with special guest; Dr Hayley Watson
This is, without a doubt, one of our favourite episodes of the BU with Declan Edwards podcast.
Where do we even start when it comes to the incredible Dr Hayley Watson:
Hayley is a TedX speaker, mental health expert and pioneer in making mental wellbeing proactive and relatable. Her work has seen her positively impact lives in multiple countries around the world and help shape the future of how schools approach the mental and emotional wellbeing of their students.
At a young age, Hayley and her family were the victims of a string of bombing attacks - a crime that still has not been solved to this day.
The subsequent trauma and recovery process led Hayley to become particularly passionate about trauma recovery, mental health and emotional wellbeing in children and teenagers.
Throughout this episode, Hayley speaks candidly about her past, opens up about her approach to psychology and shares some exciting visions for the future of mental health on a global scale.
Out of all the episodes we've done this is the one that Declan was most starstruck for!

"Resentment and anger are our ways of punishing ourselves for somebody else's mistakes"
When I first hear that statement it hit home for me. How often in life do we fall into the trap of holding judgment and resentment towards ourselves or towards other people when at the end of the day all this does is hurt us and reduce our ability to move forward in our life?
In this episode I'm diving into the art of forgiveness and sharing how you can begin to develop a healthy relationship with forgiveness in order to free yourself from the past.

See, it's impossible to be confident in someone you don't know.
It's hard to trust someone you don't understand.
And this is gap for most people - they don't truly know themselves.
In this episode I reveal why you need to start putting down the masks and connecting deeply with yourself if you ever want to experience authentic and deep self confidence.

15 Minute Mindset Season 1, Episode 6: An Intro to Minimalism
On the season FINALE of 15 Minute Mindset on the BU with Declan Edwards podcast we are talking about MINIMALISM.
If you're unfamiliar with minimalism it's essentially a movement and approach to life that focuses on having less material possessions and only keeping things that add value to your life.
Having recently taken a more minimalist approach to living I'm excited to share that this week's episode is the first episode I'm recording in our new studio home that my wife and I moved into as a way of decluttering our lives and creating more freedom for ourselves.
If you find that you tend to be bogged down by 'stuff' and that you're living a cluttered and busy life then this is definitely a great episode to listen to.
For more on minimalism I recommend you check out The Minimalists Website: https://www.theminimalists.com/start/
