Wizards of Wellbeing Season 3, Episode 1: Psychology Is Not a Dirty Word - with special guest; Dr Hayley Watson
This is, without a doubt, one of our favourite episodes of the BU with Declan Edwards podcast. Where do we even start when it comes to the incredible Dr Hayley Watson: Hayley is a TedX speaker, mental health expert and pioneer in making mental wellbeing proactive and relatable. Her work has seen her positively impact lives in multiple countries around the world and help shape the future of how schools approach the mental and emotional wellbeing of their students. At a young age, Hayley and her family were the victims of a string of bombing attacks - a crime that still has not been solved to this day.  The subsequent trauma and recovery process led Hayley to become particularly passionate about trauma recovery, mental health and emotional wellbeing in children and teenagers.  Throughout this episode, Hayley speaks candidly about her past, opens up about her approach to psychology and shares some exciting visions for the future of mental health on a global scale. Out of all the episodes we've done this is the one that Declan was most starstruck for! 15 Minute Mindset Season 1, Episode 6: An Intro to Minimalism
On the season FINALE of 15 Minute Mindset on the BU with Declan Edwards podcast we are talking about MINIMALISM. If you're unfamiliar with minimalism it's essentially a movement and approach to life that focuses on having less material possessions and only keeping things that add value to your life. Having recently taken a more minimalist approach to living I'm excited to share that this week's episode is the first episode I'm recording in our new studio home that my wife and I moved into as a way of decluttering our lives and creating more freedom for ourselves. If you find that you tend to be bogged down by 'stuff' and that you're living a cluttered and busy life then this is definitely a great episode to listen to. Welcome to The Insider Scoop - the series where I sit down with people just like you and ask them to share stories from their Personal Development & Wellbeing Journey. On this episode of the show I'm joined by BU graduate, Ash Murrell.  Ash and I first connected in 2018 and clicked straight away over a shared drive to help people live happier lives. Now Ash is truly thriving in life and is making an impact, starting with herself. In this show we discuss: - How it's easy for a helper to lose themselves in relationships - The concept of green lights in life (how to identify them and take action on them) - The best & worst wellbeing advice Ash has ever heard And much more. Insider Scoop Season 1, Episode 1: Connecting with Ami Assigal, BU Member
Ami Assigal is many things. A business owner, a mother, a leader and a changemaker.  But after so long juggling so many roles, and wrestling with a high achiever drive, Ami found herself at a place where she no longer knew who she was, what she wanted or what would fulfil her. She was stressed, anxious and permanently hustling for her worth - never taking the time to slow down and appreciate herself or her life. This is how we first connected with Ami in mid-2019 when she joined the BU movement as part of our Personal Development & Wellbeing Mastery Program. Nowadays Ami is proud of who she is, is ok with slowing down and has a much healthier relationship with her emotional wellbeing. The best part is Ami is still kicking massive goals and achieving great things in her life but now she is doing so from a place of fulfilment and self-love. On this debut episode of The Insider Scoop series, I sit down with Ami for the first time in person to find out more about the journey from her own perspective and to dive into how Ami is making an impact, starting with herself. In this episode we talk about: - Ami's changing relationship with the concept of failure - How Ami developing herself has helped her positively impact the lives of her children, her clients and those around her - An incredibly exciting opportunity that has arisen for Ami to positively change lives in another country. Episode 80: Counselling, Coaching & Confidence, Stacey Clarke's Personal Development Journey
We're often asked at BU what the difference is between psychology, psychotherapy, counselling and coaching are. Our belief is that each approach serves people differently depending on where they're at in their wellbeing and personal development journey. They all have value and the key is to ensure the right approach is used with the right people at the right time. This is a key component of Stacey Clarke's story. When Stacey first connected with BU she had already been doing amazing work with a counsellor for years. However, she was reaching the point where she felt counselling was no longer helping her grow and began to think that maybe it was no longer the best approach for her. Since then Stacey has completed our 6 month Confidence & Purpose Coaching program, enrolled in our Alumni Program and is now completing her 12 month Impact & Leadership Coaching program to learn how to make a positive impact in the lives of those around her. Over that time Stacey has grown in leaps and bounds but has also definitely faced her fair share of hurdles and obstacles. If you're someone who is unsure of what approach will most serve you when it comes to your wellbeing and personal development journey then make sure you check this episode out. Episode 76: The Truth About Personal Development, with Dainis Purins
Personal development can often be glorified by social media. The truth is it's not always upbeat seminars, exciting podcasts and an abundance of unicorns. Personal development is often damn hard work. Nobody knows that more than this week's guest, Dainis Purins. Over the past few years, Dainis has been on a personal development journey that saw him lose everything that he hinged his self-worth on. As a result, he was forced to rediscover, and rebuild himself from the core. I'm fortunate enough to call Dainis a personal friend, mentor and previous client of mine. Episode 70: An Open Conversation About Depression, Mental Health and Fitness with Aaron Edwards
In this week’s episode of the podcast I had the honour and privilege of sitting down with Aaron Edwards. In the episode we dive into: - Aaron’s struggles with depression, anxiety and mental health - Why these conversations need to be had not only when people are struggling but when they’re happy as well - And we discuss Aaron’s hopes for the future of mental health in Australia.
