-The NBA draft is this week (we didn't remember either)
-Why LaMelo Ball might be the best prospect of all time
-TIme to get mildly excited for Ohio State basketball
-Why it might be hard for Michigan to fire Jim Harbaugh
- Its Jameis Winston time
-In our weekly gambling show, we mostly talk about things that are not gambling-related, including how cheap the Cleveland Indians are
-Would you rather be a Browns or Indians fan?
-Why this week is the Browns most important game
-Weekly NFL bets draft
We react to the news of the Big Ten and the Pac-12 postponing their fall sports seasons.
What does that mean for the future of college football
Ohio State is the biggest loser in all of this
Derrick Rose is NOT a HOFer
Baseball is finally back, which means real sports are back, which means that gambling is back.
As the number one Ohio State student-led gambling-addicted podcast we discuss our opening day picks and the week ahead.
We also gear up for the coming NBA season.
Patrick Mahomes got paaaaaaiiiiiddddddddd.
We breakdown the GOAT's new contract and how that will effect the next wave of QBs to get contract extensions.
Also, we talk about the funniest moments in Cleveland Browns history for some reason.
Basketball is my favorite sport
I like the way they dribble up and down the court
Just like I'm the king on the microphone
So is Dr. J and Moses Malone
I like slam dunks, take me to the hoop
My favorite play is the alley-oop
I like the pick-and-roll, I like the give-and-go
'Cause it's basketball, uh, Mister Kurtis Blow
They're playing basketball
We love that basketball
They're playing basketball
We love that basketball
I used to go to dinner, then take the girl
To see Tiny play against Earl The Pearl
And Wilt, Big O, and Jerry West
Play basketball at its very best
Basketball has always been my thing
I like Magic, Bird, and Bernard King
And number 33, my man Kareem
Is the center on my starting team
Clyde, Rick Barry, and Pistol Pete
Now these players could never be beat
Isiah, and Iceman, too
Just give 'em the ball, and then you chalk up two
Dantley and Wilkins are on the scene
And Ralph Sampson is really mean
Bill Russell didn't take no junk
And Darryl Dawkins got a monster dunk
Finally! Baseball is back!
We talk about the new season implemented by Rob Manfred and the new rules that baseball will follow this season.
Also, we look at the latest win totals and World Series odds for the new season.
Finally, the Covid test is the worst thing that has happened to me.
Because I am lazy, I still have not written down my Blue Jays rebuild. So we save that for next episode. However, the show must go on.
You know how so many Sports personalities stink? Well, we go through our top five worst sports personalities.
Also, just to fill some time. We break down UFC 250.
Hello, welcome back to another episode of the Buck-Guys Talk Podcast.
Today, we will be discussing my MLB the Show Rebuild series. We started with the Pirates, and well, it did not go well.
We also give our tier rankings for college football programs (right now)
In these terrible times, we try to find any sports discussion we can. As sports slowly begin to come back.
In this episode, we breakdown the entire first-round of the NFL draft.
We also mention some notable picks later on in the draft......We are looking at you Philly.
Because the draft season is so magical, I give my way-too-early Big Board for 2021.
To wrap up this episode, we declare our KBO teams now before ESPN puts them on the air.
We begin the episode reacting to the Rob Gronkowski trade to reunite him with Tom Brady in Tampa Bay. Are the Bucs for real now? Or are they still behind the Saints.
We give our reactions to the first two episodes of "The Last Dance." Not going to lie, kind of a boring start to the documentary.
Finally, our final mock-drafts before the draft on Thursday. I may have some insider knowledge on potential deals in the works involving the Browns and the Redskins (Insert eyeball emoji here)
Since there are no sports we have to find something to do. So, we decided to do an all-time baseball draft.
After that, we have a quick "If you were Sports commissioner" that looks into an alternate solution to extra-innings baseball.
Next week will be our big NFL draft special. We will unveil our final mock drafts and any other draft news that pops up.
We the people, have cyberbullied ESPN enough to release the Michael Jordan documentary this April instead of July.
We look back at the dream team and the 2012 USA Olympics team. Also, Team USA for the WBC is building a weapon of mass destruction.
We go down a rabbit hole of Barry Bonds' stats. His ballpark adjusted stats in Coors field make him the greatest athlete in the history of athletes.
If you were the sports commissioner, what rules would you make?
Our second remote episode features the unveiling of our second version of our NFL mock drafts. That will dominate the entire show.
We also talk about a couple of small things. We talk about the 2020 MLB season being canceled as well as other alternatives for the hopefully upcoming, MLB season.
There will be a lot of digging around to find content for the next few weeks/months so we will try our best with Sports stories, debates, what-ifs, etc.
So please bear with us. This is a sudden change. We are trying to figure out how to work this remotely.
I'm calling this season 2 of the podcast. This is a drastic change and things will not be the same as they were.
Obviously, COVID-19 has forced this show to change drastically. As an Ohio State student living in a dorm, Cole was forced to move out. DJ is still on campus in his nice, comfy house. We will be doing the show on skype until next fall when we will both be back on campus (hopefully.)
Sports are canceled and causing us to really dig deep to find some topics to talk about. However, NFL free agency caused some big moves and stunning trades.
*DISCLAIMER* At one point, DJ refers to DeAndre Hopkins as "The best wide receiver in Baseball." There is a perfectly good explanation. One, I wanted to bring up a baseball topic and the word baseball was in my head. Two, I was playing MLB the show during this podcast so I was literally playing baseball. I'm also very mad that Cole didn't correct me and instead smirked.
Going forward, We will be doing a lot of NFL draft talk and previewing upcoming seasons, or the continuation of seasons that are currently suspended.
The entire episode is dedicated to the 2020 MLB season. We breakdown each division, and give our way too early playoff, World Series, and Award winners.
Other than that, we do our normal segments. It really is a baseball dominated podcast.
In this episode, we talk about the big fight on Saturday. Tyson Fury absolutely demolished Deontay Wilder to become the WBC heavyweight champion of the world.
We spend the majority of the time talking about basketball and just how good the Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo are. Also, Zion Williamson is pretty damn good for being just a rookie. We give an update on the NBA season as a whole, including who are the real contenders in the league.
The Houston Astros are back at it again. This time, making themselves much more hate-able by everyone. With quite possibly the biggest take-quake of all time, Astros owner Jim Crane declares that cheating did not help them win a World Series.
The NBA All-Star weekend in Chicago was a massive successes all across the board. Except for Chance The Rapper being awful and Common taking a half-hour to introduce the players. Aaron Gordon was robbed in the dunk-contest once again and Dwyane Wade is to blame.
We breakdown the Mookie Betts deal that has sent him from the Red Sox to the Dodgers. Does this make the Dodgers the favorite to win the NL? Or even the World Series? Speaking of baseball, a proposal for a new playoff format was released that at first sounded stupid, but we eventually talked our way into it. The NBA trade deadline has passed and there were some big names on the move. Who is now the favorite to win each conference? we discuss. Then we finish with a recap of the XFL's week one success.
So it's just me, Dj for this episode. We will have two episodes this week. I forgot we had to reschedule so I decided instead of walking all the way home, ill just do a solo show. I talked the Mookie Betts trade, the Mets ownership sale falling through, the state of baseball marketing, and the new potential playoff format. I also recap UFC 247 that happened this past weekend. Enjoy just Dj for this episode.
We recap the Super Bowl as the Kansas City Chiefs (who are from Kansas) put up 21 unanswered in the fourth quarter to defeat the 49ers 31-20. Now that the NFL is done with until closer to draft time, we turn our focus on baseball and the XFL, which will premiere this week. Reports are coming from all over that Mookie Betts is all but traded at this point. The reports say it's down between the Dodgers and the Padres. We read MLB Network's top 10 per position.......It's not very good. To finish the episode, we give an update on our mock drafts.
We react to the very tragic news that Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna, were among nine people killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday. It's the death of an icon, a legend, and for some people, a hero. There has never been the death of one single person that has shaken the world in our generation. Kobe brought so many people happiness throughout his life. He gave so many people so many memories. He changed the game when he was playing, he changed the game after he was playing, and he will forever change the game.
It's hard to take in this news but life must go on. Some lighter NBA news is that Zion Williamson made his debut and has been very good while not being 100% healthy. Our thoughts on the future of his career and the landscape of the NBA today.
After some "big-time" player movement, we talk baseball, and specifically the Cincinnati Reds. Are they a contender for the NL Central crown? Also, a complete breakdown of the Indians' depth chart.
We finish with our last, official, Super Bowl preview. We give our picks of the week and as always, we go off on some off-schedule tangent.
During our last episode, the only news we had about the Astros Cheating punishments was that AJ Hinch was fired. Now, everyone is "stepping down" and apparently Mike Trout is on HGH? We give our entire recap of the wild week in baseball. We recap Championship Sunday which saw the Chiefs and 49ers advance to the Super Bowl in Miami. Since football is winding down, We reveal our Mock Drafts for the NFL Draft.
The National Championship was going on while we recorded, which marks the end to the college football season. But the biggest topic on the show was the Astros cheating scandal that rocked the Astros, and possibly the Boston Red Sox. With that being said, Dj updated the 2018 MLB Playoff results. The Browns have a new head coach, and the reason that it is Stefanski is that Paul DePodesta is a giant nerd. We recap a wild divisional round week in the NFL that included the always coveted, Scoreigami.
Winter break is over and the Spring semester has begun for us at Ohio State. Over the break, Ohio State suffered a heartbreaking loss in the CFP semi-finals to Clemson and LSU dog-walked Oklahoma setting up a matchup of Tigers in the Championship game. In the NFL, the Bills and Texans had the greatest, worst game on wild card weekend. The Patriots dynasty is dead, the Saints choke in the playoffs, and the battle of the birds lost excitement when Carson Wentz went down. With football season winding down, It is time that we re-introduce basketball into the rotation, as it will take up a big part of the podcast once football is over. But don't fret, our mock drafts are on the way.
Dj and Cole discuss the official college football playoff seeding and talk about the most important bowl games of the season. Who will win and did they get the rankings right? With winter meeting underway, Stephen Strasburg signed the largest contract in MLB history for a pitcher......for now. Other big-name players are in play to be traded, including Kris Bryant and Francisco Lindor. A complete NFL recap with a bonus playoff map for the Cleveland Browns. Our weekly gambling picks and what we are hating this week.
The Boys discuss everything that happened over the weekend. Which was a lot of football. The Steelers won the re-match against the Browns, as Freddie Kitchens continues to have no clue. Ohio State Continues its dominance over Michigan with its eighth straight victory against their hated rival. We preview championship weekend and give our rankings and go through some possible "doomsday" scenarios for the playoff committee. Baseball is starting to pick up as some notable names were non-tendered on Monday.
The Ohio State Women's basketball team suffered their first loss of the season to in-state foe, Ohio. Myself and Jake Rice were there with the Lantern to write about the game. We give our thoughts on everything that happened and look forward to the upcoming games for Ohio State, including the number four team in the nation, the Uconn Huskies.
