In this fascinating episode, Terry Phelan talks about what it takes to go from a schoolboy in Salford (UK) to a professional footballer who won the FA cup, First Division (old Premier League equivalent), played for Ireland in the 1994 World Cup and played with the likes of Vinny Jones and Roy Keane to name but a few.

Incredibly, Phelan was transferred to Manchester City for £2.5 million at the start of the 1992–93 season, equalling the British record transfer fee for a defender as well as equalling the club's record fee. At this time, he was wanted by no other than Manchester United and Barcelona!

Samuel Ryde is a London-based photographer with a passion for noticing the un-noticed objects and architecture of everyday human life.

Through his lens, remarkable characters emerge from unremarkable spaces: Hand dryers in washrooms, telephone boxes on street corners, derelict buildings daubed with old signs and new graffiti - all of them tell stories of moments shared by other people in another place and time.

Samuel's first curated collection, Now Wash Your Hands, comprises twelve photographs of hand dryers taken around the world. The limited-edition prints are each numbered and signed by Sam.

Samuel’s first book Hand Dryers, with a foreword by Sir James Dyson, was published by Unicorn in 2020.  His Instagram @twelvethirtyfourpm is a working project to capture life at the same point, 12.34 PM, every day since 2012.
