Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park
Linkin Park frontman Mike Shinoda opens up about Chester’s passing, while discussing the band’s origins. His career is one of many highlights. Linkin Park’s massive success at the turn of the century earned Shinoda a place on the pop pantheon: the group’s debut, Hybrid Theory, is one of the last albums to go Diamond; their genre-bending Collision Course project with JAY-Z earned the group Grammys, critical acclaim, and street cred with rap listeners.  Shinoda also opens up about his roots as a graphic design student at the Art Center. Shinoda explains that while LP (then known as Hybrid Theory) was still getting off the ground, Shinoda was handling art direction and design for acts like Styles of Beyond, who would later play a key role in Shinoda’s hip-hop side project, Fort Minor. Mike Cherman, ICNY & Chinatown Market
Mike Cherman is the founder of ICNY and Chinatown Market. Despite his myriad contributions to streetwear, Mike’s working hand was largely invisible. Much of his work is instantly recognizable, though: he designed all of KITH’s branding from the box logo to the Just Us branding, for Ronnie Fieg. Much of the early A$AP Worldwide gear was Mike’s work, too. "People say your brand dies when you go to Urban," Mike Cherman says, "Enjoy making no money for the rest of your life. I've been in Urban since the first collection. So if that means I'm dead, I've been dead since day one."  As always, thank you for tuning into HYPEBEAST Radio and Business of HYPE.
