The SIEW initiative aims to build student capacities for life readiness beyond the classroom.
Strong in Every Way is an ongoing initiative of the Zionsville Community Schools begun in the fall of 2016 with the goal of building connected, resilient, self and culturally adept young people during their formative years in their school community. Strong in Every Way (SIEW) is a decision-making and directional vehicle for the organization that is made up of three domains: Developing Connections, Developing Assets and Resources, and Developing Cultural Understandings.

Episode #1: Exploring Culturally Responsive Practices w/ Dr. Dennisha Murff
In episode #1, we will explore the state of equity in education through the perspective of Dr. Dennisha Murff.
Dr. Murff is and administrator, educator, writer, adjunct professor, consultant, and relentless advocate for equitable educational opportunities for all.
She has spent 14 years as an elementary school principal. She has also served as an assistant principal and elementary school teacher. Most of which was done in a large, metropolitan school district in Indianapolis.
Her practice and research has led her to publish a book, Culturally Responsive Pedagogy: Promising Practices for African American Male Students, which explores essential elements and promising practices which leads to culturally responsive learning environment, curriculum/instruction, and educators.
