Sobriety After Death with Trish Kane
In this conversation, I’m joined by Trish Kane CEO and founder of 5D Healerverse. Trish has an amazing story that begins with a near death experience. We discuss what led up to the night that ended in a coma and how she has used her story to inspire change in others.
More about Trish:
In 2014, I almost lost my life pouring substances on my inauthentic self to hide the despair of not feeling like I could be me. It was time to change, and I needed to begin to make these changes, or I was going to die for good this time. I couldn’t live like this anymore anyway! I was given this second chance at life… A chance to listen to my powers and being and to find and become me for the first time, which is the best version of myself!

Tapping with Hol + Well
In this conversation, I’m joined by the founder of Hol + Well, Amy C. Willis. We dive deep into what it takes to reclaim your life when you become a non-drinker. From letting go of the shame surrounding recovery and when/who to tell about your sobriety. We also discuss EFT tapping and Amy breaks it down into digestible tidbits!
Learn more about Amy:
Amy C. Willis has been working professionally in the recovery space for more than 3 years and recently celebrated 6 years of sobriety. She arrived at this work after struggling with a severe alcohol addiction for more than 15 years. Amy also grew up in a home where her dad struggled with alcohol addiction, ultimately leading to his early passing. As such, this work is both deeply personal and meaningful for her. When she got sober, there were few options that spoke to her needs as a woman and as a queer person and she knew it was vital to address the whole person when it comes to healing through recovery and sobriety. So she created an evidence-based, interdisciplinary, holistic approach to healing and recovery that speaks to the unique needs of women and LGBTQ+ folks in recovery spaces.

Words Matter with Antoine Wilson
Today's conversation is with Antoine Wilson, author of Mouth to Mouth- featured on Obama’s summer reading list and named best book of 2022 by Vogue, Esquire, NPR and others. Antoine was born in Montreal and raised in California and Saudi Arabia, he now lives in Los Angeles with his family.
Antoine hasn’t had a drink in over 10 years, although he is fairly new to this “sober curious” space. In his latest novel, Mouth to Mouth the narrator is a non-drinker as well. We discuss how our personal choice to remove alcohol from our lives can inform our creations and creativity as a whole. We talk about how powerful language can be - especially in a discovery phase and how new words and terms create space for people to express themselves free of judgment.
We turn the questions over to the audience around 37:00 minutes in!
Mouth to Mouth summary:
A successful art dealer confesses the story of his rise to a former classmate in an airport bar – a story that begins with his rescue and resuscitation of a drowning man, with whom he will become inextricably linked, to disturbing ends.
With Highsmithian undertones and propulsive pacing, Mouth to Mouth raises big questions—about accountability, identity, morality and fate—in a story both profound and compulsively readable.

When It Works, It Works with Aaron Sternberg
In this episode, Sara and I chat with our friend, Aaron Sternberg. Unlike our recent episodes, Aaron has had somewhat of a linear journey in his sobriety. It was after his parents sent him to rehab in his teenage years that he found his moment of clarity and chose to become sober.
We talk about what it took to get out of his comfort zone, the tools he learned and continued to use after rehab, and the importance of removing the result-mentality of being sober for X years versus learning to enjoy the work you put in to maintain sobriety.
Despite his linear journey, Aaron acknowledges the many triggers, trials, and tribulations he experienced and honors the emotional ebb and flow as he stays on a “straight path.”

10 Minutes at a Time || Pt. 2 with Kelsey Rootenberg
*Disclaimer - this episode does not provide professional advice. If you're on the fence about implementing a substance back into your life, we'd recommend speaking with your doctor, therapist, or maybe your sponsor.
___
We’re back with Part 2 of our conversation with my friend, Kelsey Rose Rootenberg as she shares her non-linear journey with sobriety. We do talk about some triggering topics in this discussion including Kelsey’s choice to no longer be sober after 21 months of not having weed.
Substances are always tricky. Some people might identify as sober and still smoke weed, but Kelsey doesn't. And we get into why. She talks about the choices she’s made that feel the best to her and what has been relevant to her overall health and recovery.

10 Minutes at a Time || Pt. 1 with Kelsey Rootenberg
We are kicking off our first part of a two-part conversation with Kelsey Rose Rootenberg. She's a friend of Sara's and a friend of mine and her journey is not linear. Not only is it not linear, but she's actually in a phase of no longer being sober.
In this episode, we talk about the impact substances have on different people and the realization Kelsey had after getting sober of weed. We talk about her transition from being embarrassed by it to accepting it as part of her non-linear journey. And we discuss the luxury that some people have of not liking the high that comes from substances.
Kelsey also shares the importance of having coping skills that align with you and that you can turn to when needed.

Sobriety Isn't Linear || Sara + Cait Check-In
Sobriety isn't linear for everyone. In this episode, Sara and I sit down and chat about the shame surrounding a non-linear sober journey. Specifically when the person is in the midst of that non-linear journey.
Just because you go to a substance again, whether that's weed, alcohol, or prescription drugs. As big or as little in severity of whatever you're trying to manage, you don't have to hit a rock bottom to go back to sobriety.
And it’s not fair to assume you’ve failed at being sober or a non-drinker because of a slip-up or relapse you’ve had along the way. Sobriety ebbs and flows and this episode is to reassure you that it’s okay.

Embracing Change As You Grow with Cait
In this episode, I sit down with you and talk about the changes in your sobriety, how to navigate your sobriety when you're going through a lot of change, and how to accept the change that comes when you get sober.
There are all kinds of changes that we can go through in life. Change happens whether you allow it or not. But when it comes to going through change, the labels that we put in the sober community can be really heavy and hard.
Sobriety as a label can really make you shy away from adjusting and pivoting and evolving. You’re changing by becoming sober, but you're evolving past that section of your life. Labels can feel heavier than all of the other things that you may identify with.
So, as you start your sober journey, as you continue your journey, or as you pick back up, change is something that is just so important to welcome. Not accept, not be aware of, but to welcome. Join me as I dive deep into embracing change through your sober journey.

Adjusting As You Go with Amelia Duncombe
It's so interesting how much you can always learn about your friends. And in this episode, I learn a lot about my friend, Amelia Duncombe. She's an actress, a producer, and one of my good friends. She met Sara when they went out for a similar role. And she's the one who booked it, but we stayed friends.
Amelia and I talk a lot about the differences in our journey, what it was like growing up in Australia with the drinking culture there compared to the United States, and how medication can help assist recovery.
This discussion will teach you that a label isn't necessary in order to live a sober lifestyle. Amelia shares the ups and downs she experienced going alcohol-free, the many attempts at trying to fit puzzle pieces in places that didn’t work, and the constant experimentation to find what worked best for her and her only.

The Slow Burn with Beth Bowen
We're back with a new format, a new aesthetic, and a new look with the same incredible insight into people's moments of clarity.
Today's guest is Beth Bowen. I was a guest on her podcast, Sober Stories, and we virtually chatted about her moments of clarity. This episode is incredibly insightful because Beth is a pro. She has dedicated her life to helping women understand the relationship with alcohol, how to make it better, and really honestly giving yourself grace when you're first trying.
In this episode, Beth talks about her misuse of alcohol for several years following her undiagnosed postpartum depression following the birth of her first son. She shares that alcohol became her way to self-medicate and although she knew it wasn’t working, she continued to do so.
Beth reveals that her moment of clarity wasn’t just one moment, but a long-drawn process. She shares how she built her self-confidence into what it is today, alcohol-free, and the tips and tricks she used over time to learn how to trust herself again and become fully sober.

The Ghost of Tequila's Past || Sara + Cait Check-In
We’re wrapping up Season 2 of the Clearheaded Podcast with an episode about our sobriety being put to the test. If you’re newly sober or have been sober for quite some time, then you know this feeling well!
Sara joins me as we talk about some of our past experiences popping up for us recently, and how the Universe has been testing our sober journey with little moments and experiences in our daily lives. We talk about the triggers that may come up and we share some advice on how to best handle them.
Sobriety is anything but linear, and I believe the tests, temptations, and hurdles that we go through are not pass or fail tests, but rather opportunities to reflect on how far we’ve come.
As Season 2 comes to an end, we’ll be taking a 2-week hiatus to gear up and prep for Season 3, with all new topics and guests that we’re excited to introduce you to. The Clearheaded Podcast will officially be a sobriety-focused podcast. See you Monday, July 18th!

The Journey Ahead with Kayla Lyons
The best way to describe this conversation with Kayla Lyons is it's not the destination, it's the journey. Kayla joins me and Sara today as she shares the many ups and downs of her path to sobriety. Ultimately, Kayla laid out two options for herself - continue the toxic lifestyle she was living or pivot?
From making conscious decisions to drink to leaving AA and carving her own recovery program, there are so many layers to Kayla’s journey. But what was interesting about it is that she had her moment of clarity sitting in traffic, driving through the grapevine in California.
At 23-years-old, Kayla also has her own podcast called Generation Dry. You might have heard about Generation Dry Pod from the 1,000 Hours Dry or the Dry Club Instagram that has over 38,000 followers, or maybe you're familiar with an app that she worked on, The Reframe app.
In this episode, we talk about Kayla’s physical dependence on prescription drugs, her relationship with alcohol, and how she got to where she is today, celebrating almost 6 years of sobriety.

Layers of Sobriety with Meg Johnson
CONTENT WARNING - Meg shares her sober journey that may be triggering for some as she talks about the difficult moments with an eating disorder and suicidal thoughts.
My guest today, and I have been friends through so much from drunk karaoke nights to sober late-night talks. We really have had a journey together. And I'm so excited for you to listen in on this conversation with Meg. She is an actress, comedian, and one of my good friends. Meg is also one of the first people that I reached out to when I got sober and has had her own journey with sobriety.
Meg shares her difficult experience with “spiritual whack-a-mole” as she battled through alcoholism, substance abuse, an eating disorder, and suicidal thoughts. But it was Meg’s experience with a past life regression therapist that she says changed her life and led her towards the path of sobriety. She dives deep into how the spiritual event made a major impact on her life and how she has refined her relationship with her higher power since then.
We talk about the shedding of layers that she went through in her recovery, the feeling of being uncomfortable in her own skin and with her own thoughts, and how her life has evolved since becoming sober. She also relays the many skills and tools she developed to help her navigate the harder parts of her sober journey.

Simply Better Sober || Sobriety and Mental Health with Michelle Yang
For some people choosing to be a non-drinker or to become sober isn’t that far off from the reality they’ve been living in. For guest Michelle Yang, that was the case. She used alcohol more like a prop...a prop to get through social events, to feel like she could fit in, and even to fit into a culture that she wasn’t originally born into. This conversation with Michelle is incredibly enlightening as she talks about her choice to become a mental health advocate after being diagnosed with bipolar one at the age of 20. Although becoming sober and a non-drinker wasn’t huge for her it did have a huge impact on her life.
