50. From Scarcity to Freedom: Transforming Your Relationship to Money with Wealth Advisor and Certified Financial Planner Evan Carter

50. From Scarcity to Freedom: Transforming Your Relationship to Money with Wealth Advisor and Certified Financial Planner Evan Carter

Introducing Evan Carter

Evan lives in Atlanta with his wife, Julia, and three daughters, ages nine, seven and four. He has a unique background in both finance and ministry/counseling, which enables him to strike an important balance with IQ and EQ. As a Wealth Advisor and Certified Financial PlannerTM, Evan is always thinking ahead for others. He likes to ask intentional questions to understand the “whys” behind people’s financial goals. Authentic and raw, he digs deeper to deliver a comprehensive outlook and plan—one that’s focused on helping people live a full life with no regrets.

There are two constants throughout Evan’s life—relationships and money! Starting with his paper route at nine years old, he has always worked hard, saved, and invested wisely. He graduated with high honors from Georgia Tech and went on to complete the rigorous qualifications as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) professional.

However, he also spent eight years serving with the youth ministry of Young Life, graduated with a Masters of Divinity from Columbia Seminary and served as a Chaplain at Grady Hospital. In other words, “trust” is not just another word he talks about; he has been walking alongside families in this capacity for twenty years.

Evan is an avid volunteer with Generous Giving, an Advisory Board member of The Shepherd Center, Treasurer of School Ministries ATL and Morris Brandon PTA. He also helped establish and co-leads the Atlanta Associates Program–a summer leadership program for college students interested in professional, spiritual and community development.

Meet the Host

Caleb Breakey is the founder and CEO of Renown Publishing, an elite team of publishing professionals devoted to revolutionizing wealth transfer by focusing on values—not just valuables. Through the power of storytelling, he helps high-impact families document their story, capture their values, and cultivate familial harmony. His moonshot objective is to empower the next generation of inheritors with a strong sense of identity and purpose, inspiring virtuous acts that leverage trillions for human flourishing. The words Caleb longs to hear at the end of his life were penned hundreds of years before his birth in Numbers 14:24: “But my servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed me fully, I will bring into the land.” He lives in Bellingham (Washington State) with his wife of 15 years, Brittney, and enjoys visits from three mischievous mini huskies and a smiley Shiba Inu.

49. The Redeeming Process of Becoming a Writer with Angela Correll, author of The May Hollow trilogy

49. The Redeeming Process of Becoming a Writer with Angela Correll, author of The May Hollow trilogy

“My writing life has become a metaphor for my spiritual life. In times of doubt, insecurity, and longing to see a path forward, I’ve learned that it's about trusting God and taking baby steps forward."Angela Correll, author of The May Hollow trilogy

If God is calling you to write, it may not be solely to offer a book to the world. It may be for the purpose of unlocking something deep within your soul. Writing is like a personal excavation project, where you get to unearth hidden emotions and experiences and beliefs. That's what today's episode is all about.

Today we welcome Angela Correll. Angela lives in Kentucky with her husband, Jess, on a grass-finished cattle farm. She is the award-winning author of Grounded (2013), Guarded (2015), and Granted (2017), a trilogy of novels that became Amazon bestsellers and were adapted to the stage for sold-out audiences at the Pioneer Playhouse, Kentucky’s oldest outdoor theater. The stories span settings in Angela’s native Kentucky and Italy.

Angela and Jess are the founders of Wilderness Road Hospitality, a suite of businesses comprised of: The Inn at Wilderness Road, The Bluebird Restaurant, Esther’s Wellhouse and Spa, Mama DeVechio’s Pizzeria, Cerulean Catering, and Kentucky Soaps & Such, as well as a number of renovated historic homes that provide comforting hospitality to travelers visiting Stanford, Kentucky’s second oldest city.

Angela also hosts the Wedgwood Good Lit Writer’s Retreat, a week-long writer’s retreat with guided teaching for up and coming fiction authors, held annually in Stanford, Kentucky.

Renown has written, edited, and worked on over two hundred books (including New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today best-sellers, and the #1 book on all of Amazon).

The words Caleb longs to hear at the end of his life were penned hundreds of years before his birth in Numbers 14:24: “But my servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed me fully, I will bring into the land.”

11. Regaining Your Identity with Steve Laube, The Steve Laube Literary Agency

“I have met so many entrepreneurs, business people, and creatives who analyze themselves out of genius. Because they are forever evaluating their place, and then they don’t do the work.”--Steve Laube, Founder of The Steve Laube Literary Agency

Do you want to know the trick to getting noticed? Have you experienced an identity crisis after losing a job? How do you become the person that others are desperately looking for? Today Steve Laube answers these questions and so much more.

Steve has over forty years of publishing experience, including representing 2000 titles. He is the founder of the Steve Laube Agency, and is the most terrific storyteller you'll ever meet. My wife, Brittney, and I have shared several dinners and laughs, where we've discussed anything from ISBN codes to our walks with Jesus.

Steve is the type to hang out in a bookstore long enough for the manager to offer him a job. He has been through an identity crisis after getting fired without warning.

Whether you are an aspiring writer looking to break through, or you're unsure where your next paycheck will come from, you will receive wisdom and hope from Steve's story.

7. Taking that Crucial First Step with Stephen Campolo, Founder of FLX Body

7. Taking that Crucial First Step with Stephen Campolo, Founder of FLX Body

“You have to put yourself in uncomfortable positions. The regret of not following God's nudge is a bigger risk than actually failing.” --Stephen Campolo, Founder of FLX Body

Is it possible that the boat of your life is still anchored in the harbor? Do you want to know how you can change that?

Today we welcome Stephen Campolo, founder of FLX body. Stephen is a celebrity-trainer, and personal-strength and nutrition coach. Stephen has been featured in Entrepreneur, Yahoo, Reader's Digest, Buzzfeed Business, Insider, MSNBC, and more. I started working with Stephen nine months ago and I'm down 21 pounds of fat and I've gained 10 pounds of muscle. I'm seeing my abs for the first time since high school. And I'm confident, not only in my fitness, but in every other area of my life because I finally took the reigns of my health and stopped having a victim mindset.

Stephen's story is full of risks and responding to what God was calling him to achieve. I love how Stephen talks about how everything hinges on taking that very first step. This interview will inspire you and motivate you. I cannot wait for you to check it out.

4. Resilience in the Face of Immense Adversity with Myron Pierce, Founder of Every Inner City

4. Resilience in the Face of Immense Adversity with Myron Pierce, Founder of Every Inner City

“Imagine growing up in the projects with no food to eat, your mama on crack, your daddy on heroin. You don’t know if your mama’s coming back so you gotta go to your grandma’s house. You don’t know if you’re gonna live the next day because your best friend just got shot by a rival gang member. But out of that experience, it birthed resilience in me.” — Myron Pierce

Want to know the person God loves to use? The one who has really messed up.

Myron has a lot to say about messing up. His story is going to blow your mind. After spending years in prison, God captured his heart and he started Every Inner City, a network of inner city churches across the world, and is a pastor at Mission Church in Omaha, Nebraska.

So, whether you are facing what seems like the end, like Myron did—facing 15 to 30 years in prison—or your soul is longing to reach the ends of the earth with God's great news, regardless of the obstacles, you will be inspired by my interview with Myron Pierce.

"When I look back, those risks that ended up being really good for my life and family, boy ... they looked a little scary at first." — Scott Lindsey, Digital Bible Study Expert at Faithlife

Can you take risks apart from God? Scott Lindsey wouldn't recommend it. Scott's 9 kids (5 adopted) may think he's a bit crazy when he steps into his prayer closet—where the only furniture is a single chair—but Scott knows that apart from God, risk is pure chaos.
