Naledit 012 | The Case for Marriage

Naledit 012 | The Case for Marriage

The climbing divorce rate leaves many of us, even those who believe marriage was created by God, to wonder if marriage really is a failed institution.

Marriage counselors Dave and Cheryl Belden believe, practice, and teach that marriage really does work! And not only does it work, it can be fun and life-giving! We bring up the tough stuff, from parenting to affairs, and the Beldens graciously share their wisdom and experience on facing it all, together, as a team.

We hope this third and final episode of our relationship series was helpful and encouraging for you. If you would like to attend or learn more about the marriage class led by our guests, head to https://www.growyourmarriage.com.

Thank you for listening and if you liked it, please share, subscribe and review! Hosts Caleb and Jasmine can be reached on Instagram @naleditpod and by email at naleditpod@gmail.com.

Naledit 011 | Marriage: Expectations and Reality

Naledit 011 | Marriage: Expectations and Reality

Fresno ranks 55th out of 933 metropolitan cities for most marriages-- putting us in the top 10%. Sadly, not everyone stays till death do us part, with many not making it though the stress and strain of COVID-19 and the Stay at Home Order. The U.S. divorce rate has gone up 34% when compared to last year and newlyweds, those married in 2019-2020, are no exception, making up nearly 1/3 of all divorces this year (legaltemplates.net).

Our guests today, Ryan and Mattie Borman, were married in 2019 and still envision many more happy years to come. Hosts Caleb and Jasmine recently celebrated their 2 year anniversary, and while none of them are experts, reflecting on their first year of marriage uncovered a few elements in common that have worked well in adjusting to and enjoying married life-- as well as things they hope to continue to work on.

We discuss having reasonable expectations, fighting well, treating each other as friends, challenges and blessings, responding to changes in your partner, and, of course, romance.

This is a great episode for those thinking about marriage, newlyweds, and even mature marriages can have fun reflecting on those early years!

Naledit 009 | Water with Fresno Irrigation District GM Bill Stretch

If you live in California, it's hard NOT to hear about water, or rather the lack of it. Our houses our metered and our farmer's wells have been going dry. As it turns out, this is not the case for those in the Fresno Irrigation District, and for good reason. Providing a significant portion of the U.S.'s food and really the entire world's supply, we cannot grow food without water. So, how do we get it? And what is the best way to use it? Fresno Irrigation District's General Manager, Bill Stretch was kind enough to sit down with us and share all the details!

We recorded this episode back in June and are excited to share this is the first of many to come in Season 2 of Naledit Podcast! You can find us on Instagram, @naleditpod, or email us at naleditpod@gmail.com. We would love to hear from you!

Naledit 008 | Building Community with Ed Ezaki

After a month break, Caleb and Jasmine are back to chat with Ed Ezaki, a retired pastor, CPA, and school board member from Kingsburg, CA. After 28 years of leading, guiding and serving in the Central Valley, his main message is clear: we build community and long lasting relationships by showing up for each other. His wisdom will inspire as we discuss the winding path to finding a career, science and religion, race and Christianity, how and why a church grows and sitting next to people you disagree with.

Naledit 007 | Break from the News with Caleb and Jasmine

Disease, unemployment, racial tension, isolation and an upcoming election--2020 has been relentless. We thought we could all use a break so in this episode, Caleb and Jasmine keep it light with silly controversial issues (like, which Hemsworth brother is hottest), classic Would You Rather questions and recast the film Wizard of Oz.

We believe it is important to stay informed and do your research but we also know laughter is key for health and happiness. We hope this sparks new, fun conversations with your loved ones and encourage you to take care of yourself and check in with others. Naledit 001 | Growing up in the Central Valley

Naledit 001 | Growing up in the Central Valley

On this episode, Jasmine and Caleb discuss growing up in the Central Valley. Jasmine shares the confusion and blessing of being 2nd generation American to a Syrian dad and a Filipino mom in the "Swedish Village" of Kingsburg . Caleb dives into being the oldest son of two farming families and switching schools three times in a struggle of balancing sports and his own health. Their stories collide at Fresno State, a school at which they had very different experiences but struggled with the common question, "what the *@%$ should I do with my life??" Thankfully they developed love for each other and their college as Jasmine studied Food Science and Caleb studied Enology that ended unexpectedly.
