Sermon 8 in the 1 Peter Series: In this final chapter of the letter, Peter is going to wrap up his teaching on the Christian life by reminding his readers that they must live in community with other believers under the loving leadership of shepherds who care for their souls. Pastor Michael covers this chapter in 2 sections: 1. The Shepherds: Lead willingly Lead eagerly Lead gently 2. The Sheep: Be humble Be prayerful Be watchful The key challenge to walk away with is this: "Stand firm in God's glorious grace."

Sermon 7 in the 1 Peter Series: “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.” (1 Pe 4:12) How should a Christian respond to suffering? We should expect suffering. We should rejoice in suffering. We should trust God in suffering. God has a reason for your suffering and the challenge from this message is, “Don’t waste your suffering.”

Sermon 6 in the 1 Peter Series: 1 Peter 4:7, "The end of all things is at hand; therefore..." Keep Praying Keep Loving Keep Serving "Start living in light of the end."

Sermon 5 in the 1 Peter Series: In 1 Peter 3:8-22, we see that local churches should be a compelling communities that... Love One Another Bless Their Enemies and. . . Celebrate Their Savior Together, let's be the compelling community God has called us to be.

Sermon 4 in the 1 Peter Series: In 1 Peter 2:13-3:7, the Apostle Peter gives some very practical instructions on how to represent Christ in the different roles of this life. Specifically, he covers: Citizens in Exile Servants in Exile Spouses in Exile The overall challenge is to follow in the footsteps of Jesus as citizens in the public square, servants in the workplace, and spouses in the home.

Worship is ultimate, not missions, because God is ultimate, not man. Therefore, we are the hands and feet of Jesus to those around us and God's vehicle for bringing Christ to the world. 

Sermon 7 in the series through Ephesians: In Ephesians 4 Paul shifts from who we are in Christ to focusing on how we should live in light of that new identity. Verse 1 of the chapter summarizes it nicely: "I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called." Ephesians 4:1

Sermon 6 in the series through Ephesians: In Ephesians 3:14-21, Paul's prayer for his readers is that they would "...know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge..." Ephesians 3:19 Do you know the limitless love of Christ?

Sermon 6 in the Galatians series: Set Free, Live Free The Christian life is a path of Spirit-empowered living, but there are ditches on either side of that path. On one side there is the ditch of legalism and on the other side there is the ditch of license. How do we stay on the path? The Apostle Paul answers that question in Galatians 5:25, “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”

Sermon 5 in the Galatians Series: Set Free, Live Free From slaves of sin to children of God, that is the freedom that comes from the gospel. However, even Christians who have been set free have a tendency to wander back into slavery. In this message, we hear a strong challenge from the Apostle Paul to stand firm in the freedom we have in Christ.

(2 Corinthians 4:6)

When we stood guilty and condemned, surrounded by the punishment that we rightly deserved, Jesus set us free. Have you experienced this grace and forgiveness? Come to Jesus today, He can set you free. 

In this passage Jesus places His finger on the universal human problem of soul thirst. That longing of the heart, that desire for satisfaction, that aching of the inner man. Have you experienced it? One of the worst days in history was when Adam ate of the forbidden fruit and plunged humanity into sin and death. Thankfully, that's not where the story ends. There was another Adam, with another tree, who turned the worst day ever into the best day ever.  Jesus died on the cross for our sins and offers forgiveness and salvation to all who will turn and trust in Him. King Solomon has shown the vanity of chasing pleasure, wisdom, and achievement for lasting satisfaction. He now turns his attention to religion. In this message, we'll answer the question, what does it mean to fear the Lord in a healthy and biblical way?

In Matthew 11:28, Jesus invites us into a new life. A life completely free from what culture expects. A life with a different mindset and a different agenda. And He promises that if you'll come, He'll give you rest for your soul.

Often times we ask, "How am I?" when we should be asking, "How are we?" Ecclesiastes 4 shows us that community is better than isolation.

After years of chasing satisfaction and meaning, King Solomon tries to save us from the vanity he experienced. He's asking us to take his word for it and to stop chasing the wind.
