Can insecurities be reframed?

Can insecurities be reframed?

In this episode I talk about dealing with insecurities and the feeling of lack. Can negative thoughts be reframed into something positive? How can you feed your mind a different narrative? I'll hone in on things that can fill us up and bring us joy and fill our cup. A book that helped me a lot with this “ What to say when you talk to yourself” By Shad Helmstetter, Ph.D.

Hit that play button

The name of this poem is called “Integrated”

Sure..so... that means yes?

I'm impressed, that you don't second guess

My request

To be brave

Open and

Self-assured...

Because these things are in the forefront

My deepest desires are often left unmet, or ignored

The smile of confidence

The positivity

The energy

May all look well, good and sound

I try to show my whole self when people are around

But does no one see what I need?

No matter what I do

I have yet to succeed

Shall I plead to be seen as someone who wants to be reassured?

Doted on, held and so much more?

Sure…

I get tired and weary

Sometimes, I don't think quite clearly

The void in my being, how can it be filled?

I don't know how to fix it, or what even spilled

But whatever it is

It's made clear to me that it will not be refilled easily…

I'll work till I find it

I'll fill up my soul

I'll work till I find it

I will be integrated

I will be whole

Let's hone in on... Change!

Let's hone in on... Change!

In this episode I discuss change. I will touch on how we can begin to make changes more effectively. I will also share how I personally tend to resist change, why most people do the same and how embracing change increases joy.

Change

They say from the beginning follow your heart but is that truly the right way to start?

The sequence of order the pattern of time

Can make us predictable and Melancholy like a mime

We constantly complain about wanting things to change

But then we continue to do everything the same

Weighing different options in our head, “oh maybe I could do it like this!”

To just fall back into the same routine instead

Why is it diversity we so dread?

Being paralyzed by something different gives us a life with copious limits

It can keep us from being challenged and becoming our best

Can make us succumb to fitting in just like the rest

Sure going outside your box or comfort zone can be scary

But what's life without pain ,excitement or something daring

When we go out on a limb yeah we have the power to change the flow

Oh man how we can expand our ability to grow

If we don't try we will never know

So let's modify, adjust, revise, refine let's transform

The more we do so, the better prepared we will be for the change in weather for the storms

A book that helped me to understand a bit deeper how to make change is the book " The Power of Habit" by Charles Duhigg.

Here's a link to purchase the book if you are interested.

Do romantics still exist?

Do romantics still exist?

In this episode I talk about how much I love, love.

What I find necessary now, in relationships, as opposed to what my focus was in the past. You'll get to listen in on how clearing up misconceptions in regards to relationships freed up a lot of my energy.

A book that gave me a lot of perspective in regards to communication and boundaries is “ The Dance of Anger: A woman's guide to changing the patterns of intimate relationships.” By Harriet Lerner Ph. D

When passion and ADHD collide!

When passion and ADHD collide!

In this episode I talk about ADHD and how it really did lead to me having this passion and drive to write poetry.

You'll find out what I've integrated in my life to ease my anxiety and how dancers fit into the whole thing.

Here is a link to an edifying article on what it is like to have ADHD as a women

Here is my poem in full...

The name of this poem is called "I write"

I write because my thoughts do not come quickly

I write because verbal expression can be tricky

As a child my words would come out jumbled

I mumbled

As my parents stared at me in dismay

Thank goodness for my younger brother

Who somehow could explain and understand my thoughts, what I meant to say

The attempt articulate my thoughts felt like a waste of time

I could not be understood, it was like my lips weren't mine

I write because my thoughts do not come quickly

I write because verbal expression can be tricky

Even with age it did not just go away

Ask me a question on the spot

I begin to feel hot

The pressure for an answer would make my brain turn into chaotic dancers

I had to put in the work the dancers I began to train

It was no easy task their strength training routine to maintain

After blood sweat and tears through it all

They worked with me

They did not drop the ball

We could work together because I allowed them to continue to dance

But now they take a much more graceful majestic stance

I write because my thoughts do not come quickly

I write because verbal expression can be tricky

In this face paced world how does a woman with ADHD find the mental energy and focus to SIT and write you may wonder?...

This my poetry friend is where my special drink comes in ;)
