It seems like with a rotation of about 15 or so decks in the top 8 spots and both formats having a pretty clear meta share kingpin this week followed the trend. Notably Rakdos scam showed up in spades almost all weekend in modern. Another week is in the books! Legacy was a decent challenge this week. Tempo of one kind or another was pretty prevalent in the legacy challenge. Modern saw some real innovation in regards to the Omnath piles. All told the challenges looked pretty good!

Matt and Jake are working to resolve technical difficulties and actually get an episode out this week. Even though the Legacy metagame is still kinda revolving around bowmasters the top 8s continue to be fairly diverse. Modern was pretty narrow all things said but that is pretty common for a high stakes event like a Super Qualifier. 

Matt and Jake are pleasantly surprised by the diverse top 8 in the weekly legacy challenge. While bowmasters still has a pretty high meta share the top 8 was full of interesting and different decks. Modern doesnt have too much interesting beyond a relative lack of scam in the challenge results. It is fair to say alot of players breathed a sigh of relief at that. A bit shorter this week as Jake is suffering from a little burnout. He hast been working too much or anything, it's just the midwest is literally a frying pan right now. That being said in the Legacy showcase challenge thai week Blue Black CLEANED UP! In modern we even get to see a 5 color humans list pulling third place. All that being said it does seem like overall diversity is on a downward trend. Make sure to get your questions submitted for the episode 100 ASK US ANYTHING!

Well that was not what we expected for the yearly ban and restricted announcement. With both modern and legacy have abhorrent numbers when it comes to both meta shares and single card play rates our WOTC overlords decided to ignore all that and unban some cool cards. Legacy gets to high tide into mind's desire and Modern gets to have an efficient cantrip. Don't mind the grixis scourge or the scam hordes.

The world of plumbing absolutely refused to work with the world of podcasting. That being said the Modern and Legacy meta really seem to be just dominated with LOTR cards so in minor protest the guys spend an extra amount of time on the precast chat. Let us know how you feel about it!

Wow, legacy and modern have a lot of LOTR cards in them. Matt and Jake go deep into some of them during legacy. Bowmasters kind of owns legacy while Modern is really struggling to handle the one ring. Will the meta settle itself out? Is LOTR here to keep making waves in the formats? It happened twice in a row that Cantrip Cartel was recorded and released on time, no one can stop us now! Legacy looks pretty good as far as 8 different decks in the top 8. It was actually pretty interesting to see quite a few LOTR cards make it into the top 8 of legacy. We have our eye on orcish bowmasters all the others we saw didn't seem to be too crazy or broken, just good. Modern on the other hand… had  scam decks in the top 8. There are some other LOTR cards making waves in the modern challenge but surprisingly less than legacy.

Everyone, legacy looks amazing again! It is the wild wild west out there. The police of the format have stepped away and it’s a party. It is beginning to look like most decks are playable and real contenders in the new meta. Now we are sure it will settle out to something more consistent but for the time being we are seeing decks in the top 8 for the first time in a year. Not to mention the top 8s are so diverse, something matching in the total top 32 breakdown. Modern on the other hand has not seen an insane shakeup in the recent months and continues to be a stable and enjoyable format. It would be nice to see some shake ups take place in modern but we are not ones to spit in the face of a good thing and modern being a little boring but overall healthy is certainly a good thing. Wrapping up the episode we have an interview with doomsday pilot Prosekken (Hunter) where he gives Jake a decent dive into the common builds of doomsday and even has some interesting exercises on how to build doomsday piles.

So Initiative in legacy might really be a problem. Over the weekend it put some numbers that give delver a run for its money on its worst week and claimed 5 of the 8 spots. Will WOTC ban something? How many initiative cards need to be banned? Will they ban cards from delver too or literally just king make for delver? WHO KNOWS!
