Music with ONIKHO
Music has always been an important part of ONIKHO’s life, in the way it is for many of us. Growing up, she played classical music, and her mom forced her to practice. Later she found Jazz and fell in love with the art of creating something unique with her sound, but it still was a hobby rather than a career path. It wasn’t until she was in a car accent at 26 that things changed. We talk about that experience and how dance, music, and art generally changed her life at a time when she was struggling to see any future. We also talk about how the good things in life don’t make the difficulties less difficult, but at the same time, those hard things don’t make the points of light any dimmer.

Dyslexia with Natalie Brooks
Dyslexia is often seen as simply something that makes it difficult for children to learn to read. Natalie Brooks explains that it’s so much more than that. Dyslexia is actually a difference in the way we process information. It affects reading and spelling but also affects so much more. We talk about areas people might not think of as affected by dyslexia, share our own stories, and discuss some of the real strengths of dyslexic thinking.

Comedy & Advocacy with Laura High
Sometimes yelling SPERM can help change a multi-billion-dollar industry. Laura High is a comedian and donor-convinced person. Donor conception is almost no regulation, and Laura is working hard to change that. This week we talked about how comedy makes it so that more people listen to her sperm facts, brings a community together, and lightens the often dark work that she does.

Romance Books with Sanjana Basker
Sometimes we need a promised happily ever after. Sanjana Basker talks about the value of joy, feminism, and sexual empowerment in romance books. Romance books are about love, community, and connection, some things often undervalued in society today. Sanjana and I dive deep into all the reasons we love these books and the community surrounding them.
Like romance books themselves, while not all of the episode is about sex, it is part of it. We go into a deeply academic conversation about sex at around minute 42, so if that’s not something you enjoy, you may want to skip to minute 58.

Not a Self-Help Book: The Misadventures of Marty Wu
My debut novel, published by Shade Mountain Press in 2016, was a semi-finalist for the Thurber Prize for American Humor. In it, you’ll meet Marty Wu, compulsive reader of advice manuals and general mess of a career woman. When a professional disaster in Las Vegas sends her right back into the arms of her overbearing mother in New York, Marty must decide between filial duty and her own career aspirations. The journey takes her back to her home country of Taiwan, where she discovers more than she ever wanted to know about her family’s secrets—but is it enough to set her on the right course? Buy it, and read more, at Amazon, Bookshop.org, and wherever books are sold.
Pin Ups
I have a long, ugly relationship with outdoor sports. I love mountain biking, trail running, skiing, adventure racing, and more, but it took me a long time figure out why I never could commit myself fully to any of them. The answer lies in my place as a woman of color in my mostly white, mostly male world. Pin Ups is a micro-memoir, the story of my love affair with the outdoors—and how I’m reconciling my place in it. Trailer - Care So Much
When I started this podcast, I googled the phrase “Care So Much” and was disappointed to find a bunch of articles on how to care less. If that is what you came here for, you are in the wrong place. Instead, we are a place where we encourage the passionate. Each week I will be talking to another incredible guest about the thing that lights them up. Whether it’s big or small, something that matters to only you, or something that should matter to everyone, we care, we care so much.
