I love learning about everything, and I love giving others the opportunity to learn.

Now that I have a LOT more friends (like you), I'd like to share some of the facts and stories that the world has to offer, and offer my takes on them!

Are we ready for more UNSPEAKABLE ACTS? This book is a BRILLIANT anthology of modern true-crime articles that have changed the game in terms of the genre, and which have reignited a more sophisticated approach to true crime in general. Today, we are finishing Part One of this book, and I cannot wait to show you what this part has to offer!

In this episode, we will be looking at the case of Jennifer Pan, the house of cards she built her academic life to be, and the revenge she decided to take on her tiger parents when it all came crashing down. We will also be looking at the case of con man Derek Alldred, and the women he took advantage of with his lies and manipulation. All in all, this is gonna be a GOOD episode!

That is when human bodies are squeezed so close together, that people are either trampled to death, or suffocated to death. Fun, fun, fun!

Hey, howdy, hey! In this episode of our "Let's Read" series, we are taking a stab at one of the most interesting, shocking, complex, confusing, and nightmarish cults that have been uncovered recently - we are looking into the story of NXIVM, the "self-help" company that served as a front for its founder and creator to gather women for sex trafficking purposes. Keith Raniere is not a good boy, and we are going to read ALL about how much of a stinky little fart boy he truly is.

This is a PATREON-EXCLUSIVE EPISODE, but I wanted to give you a preview of it, just in case this is something that you'd be interested in! Access to the Secret Book Club is available through my Patreon page - just 10 bucks a month gets you access to AT LEAST two episodes of the book club, each and every month!

I am SO excited to be able to be an audiobook for you guys. I hope you enjoy the book, and the story that comes with it! If you decide to join the book club, BLESS you!

But remember... DON'T CALL IT A CULT!

Ep. 9: Damn, Nature, You Scary: Deadly Places in Nature and How They Can Kill You!

Ep. 9: Damn, Nature, You Scary: Deadly Places in Nature and How They Can Kill You!

A few weeks ago, we covered toxic areas of the world that were made toxic by human beings!

This week, I wanted to cover areas of nature that are NATURALLY dangerous! Places that Mother Nature made on a bad day - places that will literally kill you JUST BY BEING PLACES. I am fascinated by areas of nature that are uninhabitable, dangerous, or otherwise scary.

Today, I have four terrifying places in nature to introduce you to! I am excited to inform you, as well as regale you with the stories of how those places have killed people!

Damn, Nature, you scary!

Making internet content full-time can be INCREDIBLY unstable and mentally straining. Making a Patreon seemed like a good idea, especially now that I am actually giving out concrete podcast episodes on a fairly basic schedule. It is my lifelong DREAM to be able to do this full-time - to be able to use my voice to tell stories and to be able to support myself by doing so. That, my friends, is the dream come true.

For now, until I somehow become an audiobook narrator or a bona-fide voice actor, Patreon is the way to go! If you'd like to support me and be a part of that dream coming true, then feel free! If you just want to continue on listening, or if you'd like to support, but can't, don't worry or beat yourself up! I love you all the same. I'm just glad you're here at all!

If you have any suggestions on tiers you'd like to see or content that you'd like me to make, feel free to shoot me an email at "asliceofhampodcast@gmail.com"! I look forward to hearing from you!

Ep. 5 - "Purple Aki's Gonna Get Ya!" (The Story of Akinwale Arobieke: The Mad Muscle Squeezer of Manchester)

WELCOME BACK!

I have been on a social media hiatus for the past couple weeks, but now I am BACK and feeling tastier than ever!

Today, I talk about my life, the recent move from Florida to Texas I just made, my Tiktok struggles, and my thoughts on getting a job!

After that, I will regale you with a tale of a strange and unusual man: a man who will stop at NOTHING to get what he wants. What does this man want? It's simple, really: to squeeze the muscles of young men, of course!

Today, I will introduce you to the strange and unusual tale of Akinwale Arobieke, otherwise known as "Purple Aki", who has been unapologetically squeezing the muscles of strangers on the streets for almost 40 straight years.

Let's Read! - Ep. 4: "The Family Next Door" (Chapters 7 - 8)

Let's Read! - Ep. 4: "The Family Next Door" (Chapters 7 - 8)

In this episode of the Monday Night Book Club, we will be continuing our reading of "The Family Next Door: The Heartbreaking Imprisonment of the Thirteen Turpin SIblings and Their Extraordinary Rescue" by the incomparable John Glatt.

Specifically, this episode is going to cover the MANY more children that David and Louise had, as well as covering their move to Rio Vista, Texas. It's a boy! It's a girl! It's a nightmare!

The Turpin family came to the attention of the police and public in 2018 as a severe case of child maltreatment. On January 14, a Turpin child escaped from the home of David and Louise Turpin in Perris, California and contacted police who then raided the house and found disturbing evidence of prolonged abuse and torturous living conditions. Given the number of dependents involved, 13 siblings, the degree of abuse and the protracted nature occurring over decades, the story garnered significant national and international interest in the press. Experts in family abuse considered the case to be "extraordinary" for a number of reasons.

If this book is too heavy, let me know! I'm always open to suggestions as to what to read and when to read it. I only picked the book because I had it on hand, and it was the most accessible. Hey, howdy, hey, everyone!

This past week, I have been feeling the burnout more than usual, so I decided to cover a rabbit hole that I could talk about on autopilot, basically.

Today, we are going to dig into the cautionary internet tale of Darek Savage, and his prize project, his MAGNUM OPUS: the Cool Cat children's franchise. Specifically, we are going to talk about the first Cool Cat feature-length film, "Cool Cat Saves the Kids".

It's bad. Monumentally bad. Even worse? The reaction of the creator after he saw how many people completely shat on his movie.

This is a story about a man who cannot take criticism, constructive or not, and who will try everything in his power to strongarm and silence those who disagree with him, or who think that the product he puts out is inferior. He is trollbait, plain and simple. Daddy Derek is a man who cannot handle the internet at large. Unfortunately, that's exactly who's radar he ended up on.

I was at the forefront of this story, following every bit of it as it happened, so please, enjoy my inside look at the story of Daddy Derek, and the masterpiece of a stinker that is "Cool Cat Saves the Kids"!

Let's Read! - Ep. 3: "The Family Next Door" (Chapters 5 - 6)

Let's Read! - Ep. 3: "The Family Next Door" (Chapters 5 - 6)

In this episode of the Monday Night Book Club, we will be continuing our reading of "The Family Next Door: The Heartbreaking Imprisonment of the Thirteen Turpin SIblings and Their Extraordinary Rescue" by the incomparable John Glatt. This episode delves into the early life ov David and Louise's children, and the early abuse that eventually ramped up into the shocking conclusion we know today. We are going to get intot he abuse of the early Turpin children, so be warned! These guys suck!

If this is a case you're interested in doing a MEGA-DEEP dive on, then we can continue until we finish the whole damn thing!

That's the beauty of this podcast world - it's up to us!

Ep. 3: I Wish I Could Take My Brain Out and Wash It (Hammy Talks About Mental Health)

Ep. 3: I Wish I Could Take My Brain Out and Wash It (Hammy Talks About Mental Health)

I don't have any true crime cases to talk about TODAY, but today's topic is still just as interesting!
On this episode of A Slice of Ham, I’m getting down and dirty into my own brain! Specifically, I am going to be talking about mental health – my own personal struggles with mental health, and mental health as a whole. You'll hear me talk about my mental health issues as a child, my mental health issues as a newfound social media creator, and you'll hear me talk about what I have learned from being in therapy thus far. I want to give a realistic perspective on mental health and the healing that goes into it.
If you think that Tiktok creating is all sunshine and roses, think again! I am going to be giving some insight onto just how stressful and unstable being an internet creator can be.
If you are struggling with your mental health, you are not a bad person, and you are not alone. Everyone has their own struggles. These are some of mine!
Had any mental health struggles of your own recently? If you'd like to talk about it, or simply share your thoughts on mental health in general, then leave me a voice message in the link below!
Thanks for listening! Thanks for being here! Thanks for surviving another day! Thanks for gettin' yourself A Slice of Ham!

Ep. 2: The Most Evil Mother in America (Shelly Knotek Pees Her Pants)

Ep. 2: The Most Evil Mother in America (Shelly Knotek Pees Her Pants)

Baby, baby, BABY - do I have a story for you today!

Welcome to Episode 2 of A Slice of Ham!

Today's episode is one that I have been waiting to talk about for MONTHS now. This may be the entire reason I wanted to start a podcast in the first place, so here it is!

Today, I'm going to be talking about one of the worst people in the history of motherhood, Michelle "Shelly" Knotek". If you haven't heard of Shelly Knotek, buckle up, because this case is a whopper in terms of the abuse and torture that was inflicted on the victims here.

Shelly Knotek had the hands in the death of four people, and in the abuse of MANY more.

In this episode, you're going to learn about who Shelly Knotek is, what she did, and how it all eventually came crashing down.

Be sure to leave a voice message if you want to leave suggestions about the show Maybe give me some topics to talk about? Words of encouragement? Anything at all!

Thanks for getting your slice today!

Let's Read! - Ep. 1: "The Family Next Door" (Prologue, Chapters 1 - 2)

Well, look at what we have here! A bonus!

A lot of people throughout my life have told me that I have a great reading voice, so I figured I would give something new a shot and start a little podcast Book Club!

The first book I chose to read is a true-crime whirlwind, a book by the title of "The Family Next Door: The Heartbreaking Imprisonment of the Thirteen Turpin SIblings and Their Extraordinary Rescue" by investigative journalist John Glatt.

If you've never heard of the Turpin abuse case, it is one of the most horrific cases of child abuse ever uncovered in the history of the United States. David and Louise are, decidedly, not very good people.

If this book is too heavy, let me know! I'm always open to suggestions as to what to read and when to read it. I only picked the book because I had it on hand, and it was the most accessible. If this is a case you're interested in doing a MEGA-DEEP dive on, then we can continue until we finish the whole damn thing!
