Student Scoop Ep. 5: The stress of finals
Welcome back to the Student Scoop podcast! Hosts Lucy Lopshire and Catherine Eikelbarner discuss the relevant topic of stress, which is regularly associated and experienced with finals season. Stress is something that affects all of us but also affects us differently.
Guest speaker Dr. Jonathan Horowitz is the CEO and founder of the San Francisco Stress and Anxiety Center, where patients are helped and taught to manage their stress better. Horowitz discusses with Lopshire and Eikelbarner how stress determines everything if we let it control us, along with the stigma revolved around how that stress increases for students during their finals.

Episode 4: Funding in high school sports

Guest speaker Jo Kupbens, who is in her second year as president of the Booster Board of the Booster Club, elaborates on how the Booster Club allocates money to different sports and how that process works. Kupbens ties off some misconceptions about prioritizing sports funding and gives her opinions on the public's opinion.

Guest speaker Amelia Clevenger, a member of the Associated Student Body (ASB) Dance Commission, discusses creating the homecoming experience and what unseen factors make the event come to life. Clevenger also explores casual versus formal attire at homecoming, and all offered their opinions as to which one is preferred.

Guest Eric Gonzales shares his experiences of being a School Resource Officer (SRO) to Carlmont and his overall opinion on what he thinks about police presence on campuses. Lopshire and Eikelbarner also share their views on the issues attached to police presence and how they are beneficial.

Episode 1: The Dress Code
In the first episode, Lopshire and Eikelbarner discuss the issues of dress coding and how those issues are present in a school environment. Samantha Kosman, a junior at Carlmont who has experienced the dress code first hand, explores how our systematic beliefs need to be changed and how others can help. On the flip side, Grant Stuenenberg, the administrative vice principal at Carlmont, provides his opinions on why the dress code is necessary and in place for students.
