Hannah bends the rules and sneaks a series into the movie season!  The babies discuss the 2012 film adaptations of Magica Quartet's groundbreaking series Puella Magi Madoka Magica (Movies 1+2). *All episodes of the show contain spoilers, but if you're considering watching the series we strongly recommend doing so before listening to have the best experience.* 

The babies are talking Mamoru Hosoda's 2015 action-adventure fantasy film The Boy and the Beast.  They get into deep talk about the darkness within us, what it is we call "strength", and the power of connection in forming communities (and much more!).

The babies are back, kicking off Season 2 with Satoshi Kon's Christmas classic Tokyo Godfathers!   We discuss abandonment, serendipity, and the true spirit of Christmas.  

Season 1 finale!  The babies are back, this time discussing Kunihiko Ikuhara's 2019 surreal dramedy Sarazanmai.  "The world is facing another challenge right now, is it connected or is it not?"  Are love and desire mutually exclusive avenues of connection, or are they interwoven throughout all of our relationships?  The gang tackles these questions while experiencing their own troubles connecting via spotty WiFi and socially distanced malaise, but nothing can get in the way of a group of pals dishing over a cocktail.   

The Cry Babies are back for another episode recorded from quarantine, this time braving spotty bandwidth to huddle in the controversy corner discussing Tatsuya Egawa's classic ecchi-comedy Golden Boy (1995).  They're talking badass babes, labor, and the life of the wandering student!  

On this episode the Babies get heated over Kenji Nagasaki's 2011 series No.6, with Olivia fanning the flames of controversy corner while Lucifer and Le Petit Prince defend Nezumi's honor.  Conversations about liminality, trust issues, and magical rainbow wasps.

The Babies are back with another minisode (chibisode?) to preview the upcoming discussion on Kenji Nagasaki & Seishi Minakami's 2011 series No. 6.  This is an episode that doesn't have any required viewing, so hop in and learn about the gang's ideal quarantine buddies, stay-at-home fashion inspirations, and recent video game selections during social distancing. 

The Babies deep dive into the anime classic Neon Genesis Evangelion; dishing on religious symbolism, psycho analysis, and adolescence.  Please note, this episode is a transmission from the pre-quarantine world, so there might be some cognitive dissonance for you dear listener.   

Hue better believe our readings are off the charts as we talk authoritarian states, surveillance, and wannabe bad boys in Naoyaoshi Shiotani & Katsuyuki Motohiro's 2012 cyberpunk crime thriller Psycho Pass.    

The babies explore the fantastical narrative labyrinth that is Shin Sekai Yori (From the New World), an anime adopted from the novel by Yusuke Kishi.  The conversation explores topics like memory, friendship, and morality in this dark thriller.  False Minoshiro telling lies?  Find out!    

And the theme is - girls drinking from glasses on their day off!  The babies get personal while exploring the sweet and gentle anime Wandering Son by talking adolescence, gender identity, and growth.         

Deception, disgrace!  Events unfold as the Babies unpack Shinichiro Watanabe's Terror In Resonance.  Perspectives on terrorism, social media, and a defense of Lisa Mishima.
