Bloom Writing | Shelby Mahurin | Write Through It
Honestly, this was one of the most emotional and impactful interviews we have ever done. We learned so much from Shelby- about not only creating a story but writing when it's hard. Writing when you've got a toddler at the door, or when you doubt yourself... or even when it's the middle of the night This was the interview that has carried us through so much of our writing journies. and we can't wait for you to hear her words!

Beck explains how she came up with the characters from Divine Blood, breaking the traditional mold of a female main character, and how impactful all the guardians are. Bloom Writing: Finding Your Voice and Pushing Through with Sasha Peyton Smith
Sasha is so insightful and opened up to us a ton about her journey with writing. Here are the questions we asked her, and she DELIVERED!  How did you plot out and world-build so beautifully? Did it come character first or world first? You mixed magic with history so well, and I loved the way she uses magic to create something so beautiful. You brought to life so many of the secondary characters and the world that you had. In your first draft, did you have that? How did that change and grow when you are developing those characters? What kind of advice would you give to someone who was in the middle of their first draft and it feels so messy, half plotted, and all the characters are flat? What do you do when your character's wants don’t seem strong enough? When you’re plotting, how often do things change for you? YOU ARE QUEEN OF THE TWISTS. How did you put enough in ahead of time to make it feel natural but still twisty? What is it like writing a sequel? Is it intimidating? Exciting?

Our Interview with Christina & Lauren!
Yeah, we're freaking out too. We got the incredible chance to interview the best friend duo and writers of over 28 books that we love. Most recently they wrote the unhoneymooners, which was so funny we had to have them come on!  We talked a ton about the soulmate equation, a book that comes out in paperback tomorrow! Christmas Reads (From Nice To Naughty!)
Wintertime is here, and Celine spent two weeks sifting through a VARIETY of Christmas reads, ranking from victorian (very chaste and adorable) Christmas reads to closed-door but steamy cabin retreats in the snow, all the way to a very, very ridiculous and very sexually punny read about Santa Claus himself. (We'll warn you when it gets a little bit dirty ;) But it was so much fun recording this! Anna also shares one of the most embarrassing and crazy stories from her hooligan days as a gift to you!

The Folklore Stories: A Collection of Scary Stories Inspired by Taylor Swift's Lyrical Prose
Folklore and Evermore have always been haunting, gripping, and beautiful. And when our listeners submitted their own stories based off of one of the songs in the albums, we were blown away by the storytelling. In this episode, we try to bring those words they wrote to life, and live react to the ones we had time to share! There were SO MANY we were in love with, so the reason these were chosen was that they revolved around the same haunting theme- a dangerous love that treads the line with death. Here are the authors of these stories: A Dangerously Convincing Ruse | Shaylin Mechling The Heart of a Strzyga By Mckell Wall | Inspired by “Exile” by Taylor Swift WITCHCRAFT AFOOT by Sarah Slaga | Inspired by Taylor Swift’s “Willow” Kaitlyn Mitchell - Nothing at All | Inspired by My Tears Ricochet There are soooo many we loved and couldn't share, so keep your eyes open for more! :)

This week, we talk to Celine’s high school English teacher Janine Clements about all the BEST books we read way back when.  We all remember reading the Hunger Games and being obsessed with it! Judging Books by their Covers
It's the cliche of all cliches...."don't judge a book by its cover". Well, we're breaking all the rules in this episode and judging 9 different books by reading their covers to each other and having the other judge what she thinks will happen. From vampires to cursed French women, we're COVERing (haha get it?) books of all shapes, sizes, and genres. Sometimes the books you end up loving the most are the ones you would never be attracted to on the shelf, and sometimes the prettiest of sleeves end up being the most disappointing reads. Tune in to this week's episode to see how these books hold up!

Whether you've read the book and can't wait to relive its romance and adventure, or you're simply interested in tuning in to a captivating tale of the sea, we are so glad you're listening in!

Weirdly Specific Tropes that We LOVE to Read
Sometimes genres aren't specific enough. Sometimes you're looking for a "fake dating" book, or a "magic school" book, or a "goes to a ball and has to have a knife against their thigh while they dance with their crush who is also their enemy" (we really mean specific huh) and we are naming our favorite tropes and the books that go PERFECTLY with them! Let us know what tropes you're obsessed with!

Read Black Witch Already. (Our Interview with Author Laurie Forest!)
This series was honestly the BEST series we've read in years, and we aren't saying this lightly. WE'RE EMBARRASINGLY OBSESSED. If you've read Black Witch, this interview is where we discuss EVERYTHING with the queen herself, Laurie Forest! Laurie has just finished writing the fourth book in her series, and gave us so much to look forward to when her book came out! These books kept us up all night for days, and if you love her work, getting to know her in person was seriously such a treat. Check out her series here!

Our Favorite Reads of 2020 (and what we're excited for next year!)
This week we talk about our favorite reads of 2020! We talk about "Serpent and Dove" and just how much we love how crass Lou is. How "Boy Next Story: A Bookish Boyfriends Novel" gives us the happy ending we all desperately wanted  in little women with Jo. We touch on just how draining toddlers can be.. imagine Disney world with a 2 year old.. And we get into what we can't WAIT for in 2021: "Namesake" the second book in the "Fable" series, and "Realm Breaker" an exciting new novel from Victoria Aveyard!

THIS POETRY SLAMS. (Deep dive into the good stuff with Justin Jacobson)
We have a straight-up TREAT for your ears this week. We brought on one of our favorite slam poetry writers and he shares some of his deepest (and also romantic) ones. We dissect them and share the embarrassing Facebook posts full of *angst* and discuss the power of writing to tell a story in such few words. Honestly, this was so much fun to record- listening to emotional ballads and leaning into word choices and backstories- OOOPH it's meant for the nerdiest of ears. So many thanks to Justin Jacobson! His writing is so powerful and we're so grateful to have him on.

We talk about The Importance of Being Earnest, Jane Eyre, Rebecca, Anne of the Island, and Girl of the Limberlost. If You Like That, Read This with Katie (Our Hilarious British Friend!)
In this episode, we laughed so hard, Celine literally stopped breathing.  We bring our British friend, KatieElizabeth_Reads on to discuss books! (I mean, what else!) We played the game of "If you liked this book, you should read this book," and it became our new TBR for the week. Katie also shares one of her embarrassing stories that we will forever treasure- when she wrote fan fiction about Harry Styles and suddenly 200,000 readers were subscribing to her angsty, sensuous stories that she could only write as a fifteen-year-old with minimal romantic experience. (Katie made us put this disclaimer: Harry: If you're listening to this, this was strictly for writing experience and to break it into the publishing world. She's not obsessed with you. You can still date her and not worry that she's going to watch you sleep.)  Join our Facebook group and IG community! We love it when you share the books you're reading with us and let us know what parts made you laugh!

Confession: We were obsessed with the Twilight Series (And here's WHY)
Well, there goes our credibility.  But what kind of a book podcast would be if we didn't talk about Twilight?  This episode covers WHY,at thirteen we were FULLY SMITTEN with team Jacob. We also discuss why we suddenly were ashamed to admit that we went to EVERY single midnight premiere. We talk about the love triangle, the midnight premieres, the absolutely ridiculous notions we had about being loved by the supernatural, and basically how ready we are to read midnight sun WITH YOU.   If you're looking for something to listen to that is PURELY comfort, just let us whine about our teenage years for a hot minute.
