Welcome to the Chad Shipley Show, where I work for you! I live for continuous learning and expansion and have had the greatest mentors in the world. You may laugh and you may cry. The goal is to give you something meaningful. Something to help us grow. In this very raw episode, E.J. shares his very powerful journey from 10 years as a heroin addict to rock bottom to a man that works day by day to give his best to his family. This is one of the most revealing I've ever been as E.J. and I set out to burn the blanket of shame. It takes massive courage to share a story like this, but it's a story that has the power to change or save a persons life. We confront the "BULLY" epidemic and address the simple notion that we all have sh*t, we all have baggage, we all have demons, and we're all trying to figure it out.. You don't need to be an addict to take away some amazing pearls of wisdom that unfold in this conversation. If nothing else, I hope it's just a refreshing take on some really complex topics. Thanks E.J. for all your strength.
Lindsey Hoffman Brooks is one of the most inspiring and intelligent humans I know. She is extremely articulate and her philosophies on life are amazingly insightful. In this episode we dig into the art of showing up as your best, seeking discomfort, and the power of NO. We discuss Orange Theory Fitness, marathon training, parenting, and the importance of, as Lindsey says, "being kind to yourself & being kind to others". I hope that you enjoy this as much as I did!
A short intro into David Goggins, whose "find suffering" mentality is catching on like wildfire. I highlighted David Goggins and Jesse Itzler in my episode entitled The Path of MOST Resistance and this is the promised follow up on the introduction of David's book "Can't Hurt Me" - The most powerful book I have ever read. Please note - David Goggins is not a guest on this episode. This is a cover of him and his book.
A dive into the questions used by Tim Ferriss, in his book Tribe of Mentors, to extract wisdom from the worlds top performers. And a shoutout to those that have had a profound impact on my life, from C-Suite executives to long time performance coaches.
Themes in this episode include: Mental Toughness - Embracing Discomfort - Becoming Your Best
I ordered two books back in January and had no idea that they were in any way related. Living with a Seal, 31 Days Training with the Toughest Man on the Planet by Jesse Itzler and Can't Hurt Me, Master Your Mind and Defy the Odds by David Goggins. These two humans have me doing things I never imagined, and I tried to surface up and tie together content from both books to give you a unique listening experience. I spent weeks reading and then developing the content for the show. The audio is not as great as I would have liked, but I don't have the luxury of fixing it at this point so I hope you can muster through it. Thanks for taking the time to listen.
This is a very special follow up to the Among Heroes podcast featuring audio of Brandon Webb, former Navy Seal and Seal Sniper course instructor, and Mike Bearden from the book Among Heroes written by Brandon Webb. Brandon provides an introduction to Mike Bearden and then Mikes father comes on to talk about him. It is amazingly powerful and I hope it touches you in the same way that it touched me.
The amazing power of friendship and what it means to be a great friend. This episode is a tribute to a person that I deeply admire and am inspired by. A role model that will help guide me for years to come. And, a special tribute to my best friend, a person who has given my life so much great meaning, and someone who I had the pleasure of sharing a wonderful childhood with. I hope this episode touches you as much as the content that inspired it has touched me.
This episode takes a look at the new way that I am thinking about new years resolutions. I touch on Real Estate Investing, Vacation Properties, Day Trading, Financial Investing, Physical Fitness and Transformation, Seeking Continuous Knowledge & Expansion, Helping Others in Great Need, Building a Model of the World for my daughter, plus much much more. I hope that you enjoy and best of luck in 2019 - May you be the best you!
It's not the critic who counts....The credit belongs to the man who actually is in the arena, who strives violently, who errs and comes up short again and again...who if he wins, knows the triumph of high achievement, but who if he fails, fails while daring greatly.
What would you write to your family in your "Just In Case Letter"?
This episode is a featured look at the very impressive Alden Mills - A former Navy Seal platoon commander, co-founder of Perfect Fitness, Inc 500's fastest-growing consumer-product company in 2009 (with the wildly popular Perfect Pushup), and the author of "Be Unstoppable - The 8 Essential Actions to Succeed at Anything" - written as the just in case letter to his 4 boys.
This episode is a very quick overview of what it is and how it can be valuable to you. If you have yet to check out the show, I ask that you give this a quick listen to see if it's something that you may enjoy and find value in!
This is by far the most vulnerable I have ever been publicly with various incidents that have happened in my life (i.e. multiple trips to jail). I decided that it was time to come out from underneath the curtain of shame and to tell my story - or stories. I hope that this finds and helps the people who need to hear it - and that it doesn't blow up my career.
This episode will be the first in a new series on Flow - the skill that makes us superhuman. It's a quick introduction that looks at content from the book The Rise of Superman. We also take a quick look at the importance of writing well....like, really well.

I had way too much fun in this episode. Shared a little riddle, took a moment to ponder some quotes, and examined the book "Ego is the Enemy" with a focus on Jackie Robinson and his ability to NOT fight back. Thanks for listening.
