We had the good fortune of connecting with Steve Schuyler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Steve, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
JavaTwist began as a seed in my brain while I was still running a small coffee shop. We would introduce new drinks to our customers all the time and I was selling the drink everyone knows which is an “Arnold Palmer”–Iced Tea and Lemonade. I ran out of iced tea one day and decided to try Cold Brewed coffee and Lemonade together and it was a hit. I looked for the drink on the market, but it did not exist. We started JavaTwist because I wanted to drink this product and had lots of friends and family asking me for it as well. Fast forward 4 years JavaTwist has 5 flavors on the market with more coming. We use clean ingredients and pair cold brewed coffee with fruit juice. It is shelf stable, brewed in Wisconsin, made in small batches, and has been shipped all over the US.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
JavaTwist is a small startup company that pairs cold brewed coffee with fruit juice together. We are unique in the marketplace today giving the customer a truly unique experience with coffee. I started the company by bootstrapping it myself. I took a page out of the beer industry using small scale equipment to help me pasteurize and bottle the drinks to make them shelf stable. Covid was a tremendous challenge being able to give out samples when we did markets and events. Instead of giving small samples, I chose to give out whole bottles. It was costly, but it allowed me see reactions of my customers while getting the name out.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Depending on the time of year….I would take them to the Wisconsin State Fair. From food vendors to local merchants selling their wares, to all of the animals and agriculture, as well as all of the great musical concerts. Overall a great time and worth the visit.

JavaTwist was founded with the notion of creating unique drinks that are different than the ordinary. That being said we have had so much help from the beginning like: setting up a LLC, design and logo help, brand awareness through micro-influencers, small local stores believing in the products, my family who has been so supportive, and great customers who have been so supportive as a small startup.

Silva, 40, is a company CEO and husband to Oksana. Before the war, he traveled across Europe for business. Now, he makes regular supply drops of medical aid and rations to Ukrainian troops on the front line in Eastern Ukraine. He’s originally from a small village near Dnipro.
Oksaka, 35, works in overseas education. She lives with her husband, Silva, in an apartment complex in central Kyiv and has remained in the Ukrainian capital since the war started.
Many of Oksaka’s closest friends have left the country to begin new lives in Europe. Some may never return. She’s determined to stay.
Ilias is an IT specialist and married father who fled from Kyiv to Lviv shortly after the war started. His wife Natalia, and two young sons are taking refuge in Poland.
As of August 2022, Ilyas is back living in the family apartment in Kyiv and working, in part, for the Ukrainian government on various projects.

" I JUST WANTED THE FREE GIFTS" This audio file is amazing, because we were able to get this case certified as a CLASS ACTION CASE (https://www.complaintsboard.com/mayan-palace-class-action-lawsuit-c688177) Let's listen to Another Satisfied VIP Client of Western Capital. Today we worked with a Client named Diane Berning who was ANOTHER VICTIM of A Vidanta Property, The Mayan Palace in Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico! She worked with a Pushy Salesperson who worked at the property named Joanne Hardy. She started to get hundreds of letters from The Mexican Government and "Profeco" Pushed our Client to the edge as she got phone calls 3-4 times a day regarding a supposed account with The Mayan Resorts. Finally she had enough ABUSE and contacted our office, and we got involved. All hell broke loose. You will notice that the tone of this call is very mellow. There was a reason for that, as we took this Case to Federal Court and WON! So, Sit back, grab a snack and let's listen to A Timeshare Scam Victim as they were being illegally charged for a timeshare in Mexico called THE MAYAN PALACE BASED IN Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico. About The Class Action: After an extensive investigation I found out that Mayan Palace faced a class action lawsuit on 2008 I´m not sure of the outcome but Nick Steele from Mayan palace stated the process didn´t take place due to the lack of evidence but I think he just said it to try stop me of pursuing to file a class action lawsuit again. The class action lawsuit filed in California against the company back in March 2008 accusing El Grupo Mayan Palace of bilking U.S. citizens of “hundreds of millions of dollars” in Mayan Resorts timeshares, using “high-pressure fraudulent sales tactics that are comparable to the worst tactics ever employed by used car salesmen in a Hollywood movie.” The complaint states that the “defendants earn hundreds of millions each year from such sales by systematically misrepresenting in sales presentations and documents the value of the timeshares they are selling. Defendants as part of their scheme also have misled Plaintiffs as to their rights under Mexican law.” Here are the defendants: Desarollo Marina Vallarta SA de CV, El Grupo Mayan Palace, Daniel Chavez Moran, Daniel Omar Chavez, Scott Erikson, Casey Jon Owens, Canamere Inc., Huffsmith-Kohrville Inc., Preferred Vacations Inc., Premium Travel Services Inc., Resort Solutions Inc., Seven Oceans US Inc., AZM Marketing LLC, Resort Quality Controls Inc., Resort Condominiums International LLC, and Resorts International Marketing Corp.
