On this December 2023, episode of the Bitcoin In Africa Show, this is part 2 our coverage of the Africa Bitcoin Mining Summit, held in Nairobi, Kenya. Special thank you to the leadership of Kenyan Bitcoin Mining company, Gridless Compute (@GridlessCompute) [Erik Hersman (CEO  & Co-Founder), Janet Maingi (Co-Founder), and Phillip Walton (Co-Founder), who organized the conference.

The Gitugu Hydro-Solar power plant is a solar and hydro mini-grid bitcoin mining site in the mountains of Kenya, 2 hours from Nairobi. Based in Kenya, Gridless acts as a buyer of last resort for energy produced by renewable mini-grid energy generators in rural areas like Gitugu. In turn, Gridless uses this excess energy to run Bitcoin mining operations onsite, thus generating revenue to pay for the excess energy and driving down the costs for the other users that draw power from the mini-grid.

In this episode, Charlene speaks with Leah Adero, Operations Specialist, at Gridless, about the massive team effort required to execute the first Africa Bitcoin Mining Summit in Africa.

Next, Charlene also speaks with Diviter Kerani, Engineering Tech at Gridless, who provides a brief technical overview of the Gitugu site.

Lastly Charlene speaks with Siyanbola Yassar and Sambo Ridwan  the co-founders of Trojan Mining (@trojanmining), a Bitcoin mining company based in Nigeria. Siyanbola and Sambo talk about the incredible success and growth that Trojan Mining has experienced in the two years.
