ABC Talent Showcase 2020: A Conversation with Arthur Davis
In this episode, I sit down with my ABC Showcase cast member, Arthur Davis, to talk about our experiences working with the network during the 2020 season.
ABC hosts a global search every year for underrepresented talent in the acting industry, and out of 20,000 actors who auditioned in LA, he and I were chosen alongside 14 other amazing performers. For anyone who is an aspiring actor or wants to learn more about how acting careers are made and sustained in such a competitive space, this episode is for you!
But more than that, I get a chance to learn about Arthur's life and aspirations for his career. He's a hilarious guy and it's a real honor to call him my friend in such a wild city and business.
I hope you enjoy the episode!

Why I Write a Poem a Day
I meet so many writers who say they have trouble writing, but for me, I try to not put so much pressure on myself during the process.
In fact, I started 2020 by writing a poem every day, and now in July, I've written over 200 poems; all of which are an essential groundwork for me to develop into a full manuscript or larger project for the future.
In this podcast episode, I take the time to explain my writing process behind writing a poem every day, as well as what other writers can do to design a writing process for themselves. Of course, I realize that everyone's routine is different, but hopefully, this gives you some insight into how you can increase your awareness throughout the day and exercise your creativity to a point where you can control it, instead of it controlling you.
Thank you all so much for listening, and again, if you want to connect with me, find me on Instagram: @chaseyi_ or visit pspoets.com to learn more about what we do for writers!

Being Prepared as an Actor
For this week's acting tip, I wanted to explain how crucial it is for actors to be prepared for their auditions. But not only do you have to be prepared; you also need to execute what you prepare in order to find success.
I recently had an experience with this for my virtual call audition for NBC's The Voice. At the end of the day, regardless of being picked or not to move on to the next round, I can still take pride in knowing that I prepared myself beforehand and I executed what I prepared.
As an actor, that's the only thing you have control over; your hard work and dedication before the audition, and then how you do during the audition. That's your only job! Don't worry about booking the role or making tons of money or whatever, just ready yourself and seize your moment when the time comes.

Inspirational Quotes
In this episode, I share a few inspirational quotes to help fuel your mind and lighten your heart during these challenging times.
The world is filled with so much darkness lately, and instead of adding to that weight, I think it's better to focus on uplifting thoughts and words that can help make a positive difference.
I read a few quotes from this book: "You Had Better Make Some Noise," published by PHAIDON.
It's a really cool book that you can find online and I suggest you get a copy to keep on our desk at home whenever you need a quick respite from the news or social media.
Lastly, I just want to encourage everyone to be safe out there and always wear your mask. COVID-19 is a real threat and everyone has to do their part to curb the spread and heal the planet.

Memorizing Lines
Now, I can't guarantee that what I do will work for you, but if you're having trouble memorizing your lines for a project or an audition, there are a few straightforward tools that can help.
In this episode, I break down my own approach for memorizing lines. From reading things over and over again to internalizing the words to give them greater meaning, these are approaches that always bring me success and I hope they'll do the same for you!

5 Poems with Chase Yi
In this episode, I sit down to read 5 poems that I love.
I've been a champion of poetry for many years now, and throughout my life, poems have always been something I can rely on to help inspire me and help me make sense of the world. I hope that you can gain a sense of inspiration from them, too!

Working from Home
In this episode, I get a chance to sit down with my good friend, Brian Driggs, who is a Customer Success Manager at a company called Clearvoice.com.
Brian has a lot of insight when it comes to working in both traditional office settings and from home, and with COVID-19 in full effect, he shares his personal experiences about how he's handling the shift.
Maybe you can learn a thing or two from his knowledge and use it to improve your work-from-home life? Either way, I hope you get something out of it, and thank you so much for listening!
Songwriting 101
I was inspired by my friend Austin Wade to host this episode about songwriting and my process for putting a song together.
Now, it's important to know that everyone's writing process is different, but I hope that by hearing about what works for me, you can use it to develop your own skill!

Self-Tapes for Actors
Since COVID-19 has everyone stuck at home, I thought it would be a great time to explain the self-tape process for actors and how to find success from it.
I've been acting professionally for over 10 years and self-tapes have been a huge part of my career. I recently booked a reoccurring role for a new TV show coming this fall, several lead roles in films over the years, as well as lead roles in commercials and new media projects. I know that everyone's' experience is different, but I'm here to share my knowledge of self-tapes to help you develop your own strategy.

Thanks for listening and break a leg!
A Family Pow-Wow
Family means everything, and now more than ever, having the chance to laugh with them and have fun is key.
This week, I have a silly, insightful chat with my Dad (John), younger brother (Caleb), and my older sister (Tara). We crack jokes, share funny stories from the past, and hopefully, our antics inspire you to give your own family a call!
I hope you enjoy and get something out of it!

Finding Your Voice
Every actor needs a solid voiceover reel to show off their range and put themselves in the running for a variety of jobs.
In this episode, I share my own VO reel and explain how I developed certain characters over the years. Plus, I tried to have a great conversation with my dad, John Maser, who inspired me to find my inner voice through his own gift for voice acting and impersonations. However, he didn't pick up the phone! No worries, thankfully I can keep the conversation going without him!
And if you're thinking about starting your own podcast at home or making your own VO reel, it's certainly possible!
All you need is a decent microphone (I use the Blue Yeti Blackout), a laptop with an internet connection, a pair of headphones, and a free account on Anchor.fm.
Give this episode a listen to learn more and be inspired yourself!
Listen to the Music
In this episode, I share a phone call with my uncle, Bob Higgins, to chat about his love for music.
We talk about why music is so important, how it sounds better on vinyl records, and what it means to really listen to songs, rather than just playing them. Especially now in this time of social distancing, listening to music and connecting with others is so important, and we aim to honor that balance in this conversation.
Thanks for tuning in!
