Keith is relatively new to the sport of ultra-running, he's run a sub-3-hour marathon, he came 3rd in the 107-mile Dublin to Belfast in 18hrs, has run 100 miles in just under 16 hours and he recently won the Irish backyard championships completing 63 laps.  But the inspiring story is of Keith and Alanna Russell, Alanna was born with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, with no speech or use of her arms or legs.  In 2017 she became the youngest person to complete the Dublin Marathon alongside her proud father Keith.  Shortly after the race in December Alanna sadly left us, leaving behind a gift that brought a new direction to life for her devoted father Keith.

And he just finished the Colorado Crush (named by Robbie) 63 days, 1,176 miles, 308,981 ft of gain, including the entire Colorado Trail summiting all 58 peaks over 14,000 feet, and finished with the Leadville 100, quite the incredible summer, for sure!

In this episode, Don and Joe spend time discussing Don's recent completion of the Cocodona 250.  There is a lot to recap over a 90-hour, four-day race that takes the athlete from Black Canyon City to Flagstaff.  Don details what it was like to run a race like this, the role of the crew and pacers, the big "sleep" decision, what it feels like to be out in the wild for that long, and what he learned from the race.  A lot of real-life race lessons told and re-lived.  A big congratulations to Don for finishing and we are happy that he has recovered fully and can tell the whole story.
