SVI Behind The Scenes - WTF

SVI Behind The Scenes - WTF

On the long awaited return of your favorite hosts, Scott, Stacks and Smalls (in spirit) have something to say! We hop on the mic for this behind the scenes episode to give you guys our review of Brent Faiyaz’ sophomore album Wasteland, as we rate and discuss his trajectory as an artist, how we felt about the project and what we think is next for him. Disclaimer: we love Brent over here, so don’t look for slander in this review. Although Brent was the reason we stepped back on the mic, we also missed our supporters. Scott and Stacks discuss why we stepped away for a while, the importance of loving your craft and also a little bit about wanting to return, the right way. But as we have been away from podcasting, we have still been busy! Scott is running the 2nd Annual School Supply Drive (Presented by Monumental) and we need your help! To wrap up, the mentor himself discusses how important being present in our community really is, as recent events have led to the loss of life for many young men around us. Violence in our young men is more prevalent than ever, but it’s time to stand up and do more than speak out. Scott gives insight on the difference in upbringing, and the need for change.

We hope that we haven’t been gone too long, cause we missed kicking it just like you missed listening! Make sure to follow us and check out some of what we do when the mics are off, until next time, we out!

Say Cheese!!

Say Cheese!!

On the latest episode from the gang we have a new special guest, Cal on the couch to help Scott add some testosterone to the room. We open up the show discussing Tom Brady’s retirement after 22 seasons in the NFL. The boys give a little insight on their favorite quarterbacks as they give Brady his flowers. Pay discrepancies and advertising differences are argued as we talk about WNBA player Liz Cambage and her issue with the payment of her fellow players. Stacks and the guys get riled up about why the NBA gets more funding and more airtime, as well as discussing what can be done differently to even the score, even if only a little bit. Speaking of scores, DaBaby is definitely winning when it comes to his feud with DaniLeigh - at least when it comes to the latest fight with her brother Brandon Bills. We discuss when the right time to step into a domestic feud is and explore the reasons why maybe Brandon should’ve just minded his business. As we close Scott tells us about Dave Chappelle’s latest controversy, this time giving his two cents, or lack thereof, to a new housing development, that comes with a few stipulations. We explore what he said, and what that means for his housing community, as well as discussing our own biases. If you haven’t, click the link, subscribe and follow on whatever you app of choice is, and we will see you next time!

Let Me Look At The Camera

Let Me Look At The Camera

We open the show with condolences to lives we lost over the last few weeks, and give ol plugs including Lyrikal Creations, and Bomani the loc specialist.

(6:22)Antionio Brown finds friendship in unfamiliar places as we discuss Kanye and AB's hangin out. Kanye has been making a lot of news in the media as he disses Pete Davidson in a new track with The Game. As podcasters, we have a unique experience where we follow stories and news on a larger scale, but as Detroit natives are we get a very close look at the city itself. Stacks asks if we have a "crabs in the barrel" mindset, as we all table what should be free information vs a paid subscription. Moving on, (33:04) Microsoft acquires Activision for 69 billion dollars, the team discusses what that could mean when it comes to exclusivity. Minding your business can be quite boring, Stacks thinks that the most entertainment comes from OPP (Other People's Problems.) (39:06) Small and Scott discuss a little bit of sports broadcaster drama with Stephen A. Smith and we take a in depth look at a zombie apocalypse. (50:00) What's on your zombie runaway playlist and who do you think would die first if there was really a takeover. Take a second and hit the subscribe button on whichever platform you are listening on then hit the share for us! Until next time from the SVI Crew.

Story of the Thyroid

Smalls opens as a sad Lakers Fan and (1:10) Scott wonders if Nicki has Christmas wonderland sex and asks Smalls for her take. (4:32) We talk about Jason Derulo’s fight and how black people don’t like being mistaken for others, especially not Usher apparently. (8:26) Government talks commence as we talk artificial suns, and bank statement mixups. Later in sports talk, (13:48) Antonio Brown walked off the field and was fired from the Buccaneers leaving him to be a free agent, but his sportsmanship is in question. Can he be picked back up given his personality issue? The gang all share a little bit of our opinion. (29:50) Next up, we have an in-depth breakdown of the show Insecure, and its season finale from the women. Are you Team Lawrence, Team Nathan or Team Mirror Bitch? Stacks and Smalls argue it out about who should’ve ended the season with Issa and we go through all the ups and downs of the season together. Natives

Natives

We’re back with another pod! We kick off the show with our returning guest Kevon, and chat a little bit about Rick Ross walking off 85SouthShow’s set. Was it planned? Was it the vibes? Was he hungry? Who knows. We also discuss dating in this world of relationship goals as Stacks wonders if the men feel like they have to compete with what they see on the web. Kevon breaks down his ideas about why dating isn’t that appealing and Scott explains how weird it can get about women these days. Taking a small detour, we cover KimYe, the divorce and resistance and talk about relationships and mental health. Hip Hop talks takeover the end of the show as we hear Kevon and Scott talk Jay Z vs *insert your worth runner up here* and whether there is worthy opponents at all for some of the greats, plus a little bit more detail on the Meg and Tory case. All this and much more on your favorite show. Check it out!

Spilled Joo$e

New guests, new ideas, and new content brings new fun on the latest from the SVI crew. On this segment Scott and Stacks introduce a very special guest, Joo$e to present his new album "A Sip of Joo$e." We cover everything about this work from the making to it's release and get some of the inside scoop on the man behind the music. We kick it off opening with what the process of creation is like, as he discusses excitement, doubt, gratitude and more. Over the course of our discussion we cover the behind the scenes of recording, talking about what it was like to produce a project independently and the difficulties that it may bring. Joo$e shares some of the sacrifices he had to make to get out this album as we talk about a few tracks in a little more detail, get his takes on a "dream collab" plus we cover a little of what is next to come. We all chop it up about support and how to know when to trust outsiders with your passions, as we share a few experiences and perspectives as creatives. Lastly, we get some Gemmy Gems from the crew in true SVI fashion.

That's Bill Cosby

That's Bill Cosby

On episode 74 we kick back and relax with a couple guest co-hosts, and some chill vibes. We hang out and discuss Bill Cosby’s overturned charges and release. Considering the huge nature of his actions, this release has mixed reviews as the gang cover why it happened and what they think is next for Cosby. Inappropriate behavior is a common factor in this episode but sometimes it’s for a good reason as we talk almost Olympic runner Sha’Carri Richardson and her use of marijuana before the race. Rules may be rules but are they fair? Discussion continues about sports and their restrictions on cannabis. We move on to the music world as we rate Tyler the Creators album “Call Me If You Get Lost”, talk about Doja Cat “Planet Her” and cover Brent Faiyaz ft Drake on “Wasting Time.” Music is also a breeding ground for beef and not much has changed. DaBaby and Megan have a spat on Twitter when a retweet causes a whole mess. We discuss the Tory/Megan debacle once more Pardison Fontaine even steps in to defend his girl. Is it business or disloyalty? Guess either way, we won’t be getting another Meg and Baby summer anthem anytime soon. Check us out and make sure to subscribe!

Behind The Channels

Behind The Channels

We open the episode talking breakups as we cover Carmelo’s baby mama drama and it’s effect on his marriage, moving on to “Happy Couple turned Co-Parents” Kim and Ye. Does Kim just have bad judge in character, or are the men she’s choosing to busy for a family lifestyle. Each of the gang weighs in on where they think the couple fell short. Juneteenth is officially a federal holiday! A lot of people are asking for a reparations check, but where do you stand? Stacks thinks it’s a chance for education while Smalls argues the capitalization of it all. No matter which side of the fence, we hope you enjoy! Smalls asks our opinion on supporting toxic friend behavior as Scott breaks down what his role would be if faced with a toxic brother and the crew discusses support vs enabling. Don’t you hate interruptions? We do too, as the topic at hand uncovers a sticky situation involving a date, and and old friend. All this and much more on this episode, so check us out!!

The Elevator

The Elevator

Scott VS the internet is on air and in your ear with the latest and greatest! We begin the show discussing a fellow podcast and it’s turmoil. Joe Budden and his crew Rory and Mal have a bit of a breakup that we hope is temporary as we discuss the fall out, leadership roles, and what it means to be friends first. Next up, we cover the social media con artist Derrick Jaxn, and his wife battling her husband and the internet as she responds to his antics. Standing up for people is a pretty common topic this week as well. Jatavia and Caresha have to battle off Twitter naysayers, and we discuss whether JT did a good job defended her girl against Lil Uzi Vert on their live. Speaking of the Hot Girl Crew Saweetie and Quavo get up close and personal in some newly gathered elevator footage. Will Quavo face some heat, or is this just a normal day in a relationship. We cover this, plus more fun entertainment news, so turn ya volume up and tune in.

Why I Oughta

Why I Oughta

As we begin the episode, we talk WAP and lawsuits as we go over the latest Candace Owens vs Cardi B Twitter saga. Cardi and Candy are back at it this time over the Grammys performance of WAP ft. the Hot Girl Coach as Candace argues that the women should be better role models. Things take a nasty turn with some photoshopped tweets, and now we just hope Cardi doesn’t get fined. Later on in the show we talk about Ms. Nika Holbert and Officer Josh Baker, the traffic stop that took a deadly turn as we explain the need for different policing methods and quality checks. We commend Baker for doing his job well, as Smalls reminds us that doing what you are supposed to do shouldn’t mean a parade in your honor. All in all the gang agrees that this is exactly the behavior we’d like to see in our communities. Challenging authority seems to be a common theme everywhere we turn lately as we touch on a couple different points that lead to Stacks believing the world is just too soft. Scott asks “How much stock should your family hold in your marriage?” and we get down to some race relations featuring the royals Prince and Meghan. All this and much more on your favorite podcast, so check us out.

On the 66th Episode of SVI your hosts tackle lack parenting at its finest as we discuss gospel legend Kirk Franklin and his 32 year old son Kerrion with their profanity filled phone call that cause the media to side eye. Will Kirk be in some trouble with his peers? Going forward as we wait for “Space Jam 2” to make its debut, we will be missing a Looney Tune this time around. Pepè Le Pew has been cut from all Warner Bros and Looney Tunes features from here on out. Is it too sexual or too sensitive? Stacks and Smalls battle it out to get to the bottom of it. Zaya Wade has been named a role model by Michelle Obama and we speak our thoughts on what it means to have support as Scott explains the difference that money and fame can bring. The gang also reflects on things we wished we would’ve learned sooner, although it’s better late than never.

Wrapping up, we talk marriage goals, engagements and ring custody.

We love to see it! From there we jump into a quick review of the newest Drake drop ‘Scary Hours 2’ and Smalls and Scott discuss Lil Baby’s potential for longevity in the game. TI and Tiny should be ducking for cover as we revisit their allegations and talk about snitching, public response, and most importantly Stacks emphasizes the importance of staying quiet when the heat is on! Scott asks the girls if they feel men have safe spaces in their lives, and the crew has a bit of a heart to heart. You 5th!!

We bring you episode 64 where we have a special guest Levone on the couch and kick off the show by telling us about his endeavor, Jurassic Pakk. As we dive into the world of reptiles we slide over to snake behavior as we discuss Kim Kardashian West and Kanye’s split. When Stacks asks about the pros and cons of dating Scott and Levone tackle the idea that dating is what you make it, just know where you stand and life can be great. Stacks also presents the B. Simone take, and discusses the need for women to offer what they expect as Smalls chimes in. Even though she’s been the brunt of some scrutiny, the gang agrees with her point. Meek Mill wasn’t so lucky in the scrutiny department however, as we go at his Kobe line that has now made headlines. Come kick it with the team!

I AM...

I AM...

The gangs all here! We come together on the day of love to bring you the latest news and some nonsense as we open the show with a quick review on Judas And The Black Messiah, the latest film focusing on The Black Panther Party. Later on we discuss Nick Cannons return to ViacomCBS after the welcome him to the network once more. Was it the money they were losing? Were they really waiting on an apology? Or could he have held out a little longer? We bounce around some different theories as we get ready to tune in to WildNOut again. Speaking of apologies, we also go over one apology that didn’t go over to well, as we discuss DaniLeigh and her “yellowbone” fiasco. Sounds like that isn’t what DaBaby likes after all. Chloe Bailey breaks the internet with her buss it challenge, and then keeps the momentum going as she gets criticized for tapping into her femininity although Scott is all for it. Moving forward we Smalls and Scott discuss Heaux Tales, Jazmine Sullivan’s latest album and give it high scores. Trey Songz may or may not have a sex tape, but he’s definitely enjoying the spotlight as it seems his arrest is a thought of the past. We have PLENTY to say, and a whole lot to do as we end urging our community to do a little more to push us forward. (3:17) As she wonders when she will get “stimulated”, Trumps' supporters make their way to the Capitol building (8:05) and cause an uproar over their violence as we discuss how much different this is from what we are used to. Head to head matchups are tabled while Scott and Smalls talk Jay-Z classics and Versuz worthy opponents (12:21) From there, we take a turn from celebrity news to everyday drama when Scott asks guest Ariel “Do multiple baby mama’s turn you off” (20:04) and finally do women ask for too much, or not enough? “At what age should you lower your standards” (32:37). Tune in for this and much more!

Perks & Privileges

61 starts with a trash talking showdown as we break down the drama between Jayda and Teanna Trump. As the girls have a Twitter cat fight, our crew discusses the underlying reasons why Baby keeps cheating and Jayda keeps staying. Speaking of people making the same mistakes, TI speaks out once more about his parenting style which this time includes what he calls “thot prevention hours” for his girls. Scott speaks on why some things should stay private, and Smalls and Stacks debate is whether the sentiment is in the right place. Mediation is always a good idea between foes, so 21 Savage takes on that role as Meek Mill, Akademics, and Tory Lanez enter a Clubhouse Chat to end a long-standing feud. COVID hits the UK once more and the Stimmy’s are back but this time sliced in half for the US. The team discusses the effects of Rona and its impact on this year both mentally and financially. Manifest

Manifest

On the 60th episode of Scott Vs the internet we cover lots of ground in the entertainment world starting with Meek Mill and his act of kindness gone wrong. Meek gets slandered for giving neighborhood kids $20 for selling water. Cheap or smart? They say teach a man to fish right? Moving along to more bad money moves the crew talks Lil Wayne’s worth as he sells his masters to UMG for 100M. Knowing your worth is essential in entertainment which is why Tiffany Haddish turned down a #Grammys pre-show when she was expected to pay for her own glam squad. Stacks argues that it should be a given, while Scott and Smalls say it’s a virtual event, do it yourself. We touch on the loss of actor Tommy Lister affectionately known as Debo, and speak on what to say to someone who tells social media everything! Should you log off, or vent away? Cardi B gets vocal that she will say what she wants as she gets attacked for considering a Birkin during a pandemic. Luckily she’s not one to keep quiet and neither are we as the crew chimes in on her level of responsibility (or lack thereof) as a public figure. Money is the root of all evil and apparently the cause of plenty of controversy this episode so check it out!

On the latest episode we take a look at parenting from many angles. We discuss the impact of a two parent household, the overprotective traits of a father, (and what consequences follow when you give him a mic) and even explore what can occur when you tackle parenting in a not so "traditional" way. The ideas vary between the co-hosts as they attempt to give their views on how to teach sex education and what's acceptable discipline. Later on, we move from the schoolhouse to the playground where as big kids/adults we've heard the saying "it ain't tricking if you got it,"..... but what happens when you don't? From pregnancy, to "pay for me" and everything in between, come hear Scott, Stacks and Smalls give you their input.
