Chica and the Man

It's the end of a journey for Chica & the Man. We've been working together for two years and talking about our separate creative projects on each other's podcasts. First, Sonia Iris Lozada from Poetic Resurrection and Overheard at Chica's Café was an invited guest on Alex Greenwood's Mysterious Goings On show to discuss her book Follow: Akashic Dreaming Through Time. Then, Alex came on The Poetic Resurrection Podcast to talk about his writing journey and John Pilate Mystery Series.

Now, it's time to say farewell. Sonia is devoting more attention to her acting and writing along with her pods, while Alex is creating another podcast focused on true crime in Kansas City as well as continuing to write. We'll remember our meaningful conversations over the past two years fondly as we take the next steps in our respective careers. Goodbye, friends! Best wishes.

This month's break-the-hiatus episode we congratulate Alex and his success of being named the Best Local Author for Kansas City, MO. He earned a round of applause for that! Along with celebrating Alex, we weigh in on the Writer's and SAG-AFTRA contract negotiations. This strike is to update the contracts for TV and film work. Sonia shares her experiences with auditioning and self-taping. Commercials, print work, soap operas, and certain voiceover operations are still going strong. Well, we had expected getting into spring cleaning but as usual when you get two level-headed creatives talking; the conversations goes everywhere.

016 Chica and the Man Writing

This month Alex and I discuss—well everything. Our intent was to discuss goals, but if you’ve listened to any of our episodes, we go off on tangents. We initially were going to review the goals we set in December, but we discussed what is listed below because we’re all over the place. The links are listed below after the episode notes.

1. Unfortunately, this month my mother passed and we briefly discuss what happened. Alex was so kind, endearing, and supportive. You can hear a dedication episode at Poetic Resurrection podcast.

2. We discuss short stories and films that were made from them, i.e., Arrival & The Martian. Alex is also a quarter-finalist in the Screencraft Cinematic Short Story Writing Competition. He’ll find out in February if he makes it to the semi-finalist.

3. We discuss a story I’m writing about the Amazon and the Mayan exhibit.

4. Sonia’s Overheard at Chica’s Café’s guest this month is Denise Sanchez of Bosch Legacy. BTW, Bosch Legacy is one of Alex’s favorite shows.

5. Mysterious Goings on and PR After Hours are keeping Alex busy and they are progressing.

6. We mention celebrities (Al Pacino & Sly Stallone) we’ve met and shows we’re watching.

Alex is back! We’re catching up. As many of you know, Alex has been on hiatus during the summer. Last time we recorded an episode was in July, which I released during the summer. We discuss our summer, life, careers and, as always, have a few laughs and, of course, we banter.

In this month’s episode, we talk, talk and talk. We cover so many subjects that I thought I’d list them.

1. We spoke about my mom. A reflection on last month’s episode.

2. The state of our careers. How we're excited about them and how it can be overwhelming.

3. Pandemic weight gain and how difficult it is to lose it.

4. We talked about Alex’s interview with Dr. Gilmer, author of The Other Dr. Gilmer, on the Mysterious Goings On Podcast.

Here we are at the end of March. Another month has gone by and in this episode, we thought we discuss our “Successes”. We laugh about the good, the bad and the ugly about success. We speak about how simple experiences lead to a doorway which leads us in the right direction. How gratitude has played a major role in being successful. We talk about books we’re reading or listening to. I’m listening to The Untethered Soul. I called it the untethered mind in the recording. Alex is reading Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before. We are both enjoying our books and next month we want to touch upon how others' can perceive you. Until next month—blessings.
