Walk soft on the croft

We are ethical spinners and weavers, living and working from a croft in the Outer Hebrides, we chat on the life we lead, the fibers we spin and the rugs we weave. With lots of help from our rescue dogs, cats and sheep. We live between the moor and the sea in one of the old croft houses, most days all we can hear is the wind and the tide turning and smell the peat smoke. That's when Nigel the terrier is not alerting us to the next danger, such as a dodgy tree/ erratic hen noise/ cat minding her own business in his eye line! and other perils.

Getting started!

We, that is myself Chris and husband Andrew are ethical spinners and rug weavers, working from a small croft in the Outer Hebrides. We have a busy facebook page https://www.facebook.com/coloursfromthecroft and are often asked about the techniques we use in the spinning and weaving as well as questions on just what it is like to up sticks in your 50's and move to such a remote home (terrifying I think is the word). We have a no-kill flock of old and much loved sheep, rescue dogs, cats, hens and ducks as well as a couple of rogue budgies. This first episode is just me getting used to the idea and introducing us to you.
