800 Years Later

What Is Christmas?
While Christmas day is nearly upon us, Michael Furlonger wanted to share with you what Christmas is (and why it's so important). While in this video, he didn't jump deep into the theology of "Who, What, Where, When and Why" of Christmas. Michael read a short portion of scripture. Needless to say, Jesus Christ is the reason for the season. While business and commercialization of Christmas often gets in the way, Jesus Christ was a promised hope to save mankind. And without getting further into the theology, Jesus Christ's birth was a miracle and his life was foretold long before that. So while we are stressing about the Christmas season, let's take a moment to relax and praise the Lord God, Jesus Christ.
Why I Love Christmas
In today's short video, author Michael Furlonger shares on why he loves Christmas. He loves that Jesus Christ takes center stage. While Jesus Christ should be preached and worshipped at every Sunday service, sadly, that's not the case. But, Christmas is the one time of year that people put away their self-centeredness and look to Jesus Christ who was born to die on a cross for our sins. Bambi Angelina: Costa Rica's #1 Hooker (December Book Promo)
In today's video, author Michael Furlonger showcases a book titled Bambi Angelina: Costa Rica's #1 Hooker. Book Description:
I still find it hard to believe this spectacular story of redemption from ‘skin and sin’ just fell into my lap bit by bit with trust earned. Slowly this amazing woman revealed herself to me. She wanted her story told without recognition or reward. Her words of wisdom are directed to all the working girls in Costa Rica and around the world – no matter what you think about the world’s oldest profession -- there is pain behind the glamour, there is damage behind the dollars. Her words are also directed at disrespectful cheating men on the prowl. This old burned out, washed up reporter living the dream as a beach bum in Costa Rica was still up to the task. Throughout this story, for illustrative purposes only, are beautiful eyes lifted from photographs of the most gorgeous Latina models known to walk the Earth. Their identities are a secret as well. Their eyes are her eyes. No Offense But!!! (Part 6 of Should I Stop Offending) Episode 39
In today's episode, concluding the sub-series of the topic of having the courage to share even if it's offensive, author Michael Furlonger discusses the topic of the approach we take in sharing our story. As it is, often times, people are offended by the way we tell something, more than what we say. As Christians, we should be showing love for our friends, neighbours, and enemies (as Jesus told us to pray for those who persecute us- Matt. 5:44). While our story may be hard to hear, we should be gentle in the telling of it. Michael mentions the importance of this as Thanksgiving is coming up. #1 Step To Build Your Following (Episode 25)
In today's episode of ChristianWritersBookstore Youtube and podcast, author Michael Furlonger shares his #1 tip on building your social media following. Be mindful that as you build your social media following, you will be able to increase your reach with your email newsletter and book sales. This #1 tip is pop culture. It's hard to build your following with only your content. What that means is that people will likely not find you if you don't reach out into the circles they are in. To share content that is in line with your topic, find similar interests. Michael's example, as a Christian Bible study writer, he considers creating content connecting with popular teaching from Joel Osteen or John MacArthur. In upcoming videos, Michael will share on building a following with a wider range of interests. Michael final disclaimer is that you should be knowledgeable on your topic. Is Doctrine Important In Fiction? (Episode 15)
In this episode of ChristianWritersBookstore YouTube & Podcast, author and founder, Michael Furlonger shares on his own experience as a Christian author. He shares on his personal responsibility to write biblically accurate theology, even in a fiction book about a Christian family. In his book, I Am The Sinner, the family deals with the loss of their oldest son/ older brother. Now with a hole in the family dynamic, the younger brother tries to fill in the gap left by his older brother. While trying to be a mature protector of his sister in highschool, he begins having dreams about his brother and a little girl in Heaven that offer emotional support. Michael's problem is that it is not sound doctrine. Our only mediator is Jesus Christ (1 Tim. 2:5). And following other "spirits" (characters in dreams) as a guide, we are inviting demons. ChristianWritersBookstore- Bible Translations Matter (Episode 10)
In this episode of ChristianWritersBookstore YouTube, author and founder Michael Furlonger shares on the importance of Bible translations and interpretations. While he encourages the reading and sharing of the scripture, an inaccurate interpretation is not appropriate. In the example given, an author shared that 3000 people put their faith in Jesus Christ because of the miracle of Peter and John healing a lame man at the Temple (Acts 3:1-10 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=acts+3%3A1-10&version=NIV). However, the 3000 who turned to Christ is shared in the chapter earlier after hearing Peter preach. 37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” 40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+2%3A37-41&version=NIV) While there is much in the scriptures that have often been the cause of much disagreement, ChristianWritersBookstore aims to be a home for all of them, but this doesn't include a complete disregard for appropriate study and interpretation. This is why it will not allow The Passion Translation whereas one man, Brian Simmons, believes that God told him to translate scripture. Imagine a husband and wife talking with someone and every time the husband spoke says, "What he really means is...." Is that not offensive? ChristianWritersBookstore - Engage and Comment On Other People's Content (Episode 9)
On this episode of ChristianWritersBookstore video, author and founder Michael Furlonger shares on the importance of genuinely building the relationship with your audience (and fellow authors).
When you engage with other people's content, you are standing out in that person's platform. This might compel the person to join your channel, or email list, or it might cause other commentors of that same video/ feed/ reel to look you up. And now you're building a relationship with even more people.
Staying Active On Social Media (Episode 8)
In this episode of ChristianWritersBookstore YouTube Channel, author and founder Michael Furlonger shares on the importance of being active on social media as an author, or aspiring author/ artist. Michael shares how he sees a lot of authors spam social media with posts saying, "Buy my book. Buy my book." This doesn't engage your potential readers or help you build an audience. Simply put, try to help others before you help yourself. The example used is when a new member on a Facebook writer's group joins, welcome them and ask about their writing style or topic. Secondly, Michael offers advice on the importance of having an email campaign to gather email addresses in one way or another. ChristianWritersBookstore.com offers a service of setting up an automated newsletter for one month worth of emails, which Michael believes is *typically* ideal (it may vary depending on whether it's a single book or a series). Tips include: Email #1- Introduce yourself and the book that you wrote Email #2- Introduce the main character of your book Email #3- Share an action scene or conflict of that main character Email #4- While this is typically the end of a newsletter, Michael calls this the "Make The Sale" email. Ex. "There's so much more that happens in (character's) life. Will he ever complete the task? Buy now."
