Season Finale
Miami played in bowl game..but of course lost another bowl game. Mama Hayes and I go out on a higher note than the 2023 Canes and get everyone pumped to win another off-season! Go Canes!
Winning Season and a Full Episode!!!
Like Miami's offense we figured out all the issues this week and brought a strong performance. Mama Hayes recaps a big Canes W and predicts who will be in the CFP top 10 rankings on Tuesday! Go Canes!
The Half Episode!
Half the audio got lost from our recording, so you'll miss Mama Hayes Red Beans and Rice AND her amazing breakdown about the College Football Playoff. Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Soooo Close!
That was fun but it also stings. Mama Hayes gushes over the defense and I share my frustration with the second half play calling. We also surprise Mom with the CFP Rankings and have her react. Go Canes!
We're Sorry If You Watched That
Not much to say about this game. Mama Hayes and I recap it all in 20 minutes! I introduce a new award while Mama Hayes struggles to hand out any, good teamwork by us. We talk about the college games we could've watched and hope you did!
Defense Wins...OT Games!
Mama Hayes is here to recap the UVA and her experience at Hard Rock Stadium! She was thrilled but terrified the entire game. After some awards are handed out, we LIVE REACT to the College Football Rankings...there are many Mama Hayes "Woahs!" Go Canes!
FINALLY! 13 BLEEPING YEARS, ITS HAPPENED!
MIAMI BEAT CLEMSON FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 13 YEARS!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH and AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Mama Hayes called the win and was only off by a few points! Go Canes!
Nothing but Energy This Episode
Mama Hayes demands that we bring energy this episode! We recap a solid first half by the Canes and a...not as a good second half. We welcome in new listeners from across the pond and go over a fun college football weekend if you are not a Canes fan.

Bye Week Clean Up Episode
We clean up a couple of items we didn't get to in the first episodes of season 6. Mama Hayes gives a great recap of the Ole Miss vs. LSU exciting finish. She also roasts the production quality of the ACC Network!
History Made and Walk-Off Wins!
Mama Hayes is impressed by the rushing attack, offensive line, and the WR's blocking downfield! It's the little thing. She has a long list of candidates for award winners but still only picks two. We discuss the blowout in Eugene, the walk-off games, and the history made at Shenandoah University!
Mama Hayes Gives Up the Goods
Mama Hayes and I are more back than the University of Miami Football team. We recap our the 3-0 start (which is mainly the Texas A&M Game). Mama Hayes finally reveals her criteria for the Red Beans and Rice and Chocolate Chip Muffin awards. And we introduce a new segment...Talkin' College Ball!
NIL Troubles!
Miami did it! First program to be in trouble with the NCAA over NIL. Would it be anyone else? Mom and I discuss and finally recap Mario's recruiting haul.
Pitt Drive Home
The Season Is Over!
Can We Stay Optimistic?
We quickly cover a brutal offensive performance by the Canes. Of course we search and dig to find any positive from that game, and it's DIFFICULT. Mom Comments are back! And we preview the Pitt game with some depressing predictions. Go Canes!
Clemson...Ohio State Drive Home
Mama Hayes turns the Clemson Drive Home into an Ohio State Drive Home...Go Canes?
Can We Talk You Into A Win?!
Mama Hayes introduces a new bit called "Mom Comments!" Just like Miami's offense we are introducing new wrinkles and hitting our stride late in the season. Of course one win means that I try to talk myself, Mama Hayes, and you the listener into a major upset win over Clemson! Go Canes!
Georgia Tech Drive Home
WE WON AND SCORED TOUCHDOWNS!!! GO CANES!!!
What's Below Rock Bottom?!
Join Mama Hayes and I for one of the most depressing episodes we've done! Go Canes!
FSU WEEK!!!
We are back after being Mom being on the injured week last podcast! We add our thoughts to wrap up the exciting 4-OT win with NO TOUCHDOWNS! Amazing! The RBR and Chocolate Chip Muffins are also back. We then move on to Florida State preview where we predict anything could happen as well as the scores to the game! Makes sense? Go Canes!
Virginia Drive Home
We are back! Mom is feeling better (especially after a Canes win) to give her initial thoughts on the game.
Giving Myself Permission to Grieve
We talk about the usual Miami Football shenanigans. Mama Hayes recaps how she had to read the game! Our 2nd segment we share our experiences of grief and how that has been very different for the both of us over the past 14 years. I am really proud of Mom for her line "I'm finally giving myself permission to grieve." Grief comes in different emotions and timelines for everyone. As always...Go Canes!
VaTech Drive Home
For the first time, the new "Drive Home" series is about a Miami Win!!!
Somehow We Remain Optimistic
Mama Hayes and I refuse to shut down the podcast! We are back to highlight the positives from the UNC game, and of course still vent our frustrations. Mama Hayes brings a great stat for how Miami is already improving under Mario Cristobal, while I make a declaration...it's a Bowl Game or I'm out! We look ahead to the once high profile matchup against Virginia Tech of yesteryears. This one could be ugly be for many reasons. Go Canes!
UNC Drive Home
This might be our last podcast. This is getting out of control.
Top 5 Non-Conference Losses
Mama Hayes and I have not moved on well from the MTSU loss the other week. After a quick preview of the upcoming UNC game, we deal with our pain by accepting our pain. We do a good ole-fashioned top 5 list and take a look back at the 5 most frustrating non-conference losses since the Canes joined the ACC. There was some crossover but no fear, there's been enough tough losses we both have very different lists. Please surprise us against UNC! Go Canes!
MTSU Drive Home
Mama Hayes and I give our instant reaction to Miami's frustrating loss to Middle Tennessee State.
Kyle Field...Cool Stadium
Mama Hayes and I made it out of the traffic and have cooled off since the postgame drive home. We find the positive in the game while realizing there was a great opportunity to win the game. Mama Hayes gives out her first Red Beans and Rice and Chocolate Muffins of the season. It is then a look ahead at a pesky Middle Tennessee State team. Mama Hayes did her research (I did not) and previews who could Miami needs to worry about on Saturday. Go Canes!
Texas A&M Drive Home
Mama Hayes and I give our instant reaction to Miami's loss to Texas A&M Saturday night.
A New Era...Again!
Mama Hayes and I are finally back to kickoff the college football and Miami football season in...WEEK 3! We talk about the start of another new coaching era in Coral Gables for the 17th time in 9 years. After a couple attempts, we finally get Mama Hayes's thoughts on TVD's start to the season. We explain the origins of the Red Beans and Rice and Chocolate Chip Muffin awards (we come up with a new award for REALLY special performances). As usual, we break down the upcoming matchup vs. Texas A&M and we'll be there for it! Go Canes!
The Mario Episode
If you like pets interrupting your podcast listening, this is the episode for you! It's a real quick Duke recap so Mama Hayes and I can get into the big news around the University of Miami football team. We look back at the Manny Diaz era, what went right and what could've been. We talk about Mario Cristobal coming back to the Canes (don't tell him he was Mom's second choice) and the Dan Radakovich hire as the Athletic Director. Go Canes!
Thanksgiving!
Mama Hayes and I take time out of Thanksgiving Day to thank our listeners and talk NFL Football....just kidding, we of course talked Miami Football. We recap the VaTech game and what impressed us. Mom once again just makes her own rules for the Red Beans and Chocolate Chip Muffins. There is not much to preview on the Duke game, so we discussed who we liked as potential AD and Head Coach replacements. Go Canes!
Miami Needs Vision
Mama Hayes grabs a second glass of wine for this taping as we discuss the debacle at the end of the FSU game. She still stays positive and finds recipients for the Red Beans and Rice and the Chocolate Chip Muffins. We then discuss the news of Blake James and the University of Miami parting ways, possible candidates, and that the athletic department needs a bigger vision. Go Canes!
2-Point Conversion Talk!
If you listen to any of this, skip to the 8 minute mark to listen to the mind bending explanation and confusion about the 2-point interception return. It is content gold! Mama Hayes and I talk about Miami's win against Georgia Tech and that it should not have been as close. We preview FSU and Mama Hayes hopes this time her Red Beans and Rice recipient does not transfer by the next recording of this podcast! Go Canes!
Do we have a QB1?!?!
Mama Hayes and I break down the Canes big road win against Pitt. We talk about the impressive play by the freshman, specifically James Williams and Tyler Van Dyke. Somehow we stumble into spreads and over/under talk. Do not take our sports betting advice! Go Canes!
A Tale of Two Team North Carolina Teams
We know, we have not been consistent on episodes! It's been busy. But so have the Canes, winning against a team from North Carolina but losing to a team from North Carolina the past two weeks. Mama Hayes and I caught up on the UNC and NC State games. We highlight the freshmen that are making an impact, and Mom gives out her awards for both games. She also introduces new terms that all football commentators should start adding to their broadcasts. Go Canes!
The State of Miami Football and Athletics
We're back! Mama Hayes and I talk about the state of the Miami Football and Athletics program. We try to figure out what the rest of the season might look like. For the dog lovers out there, Maise makes sure to chime in on almost every point, making it a lot of fun to edit this episode! Our predictions for the UNC game are pretty bleak and I make another season prediction. Go Canes?
There are no words
Mama Hayes and I try to make sense of the Michigan State loss. There are not many good words about this game and program at the moment. I make a bold prediction and Mama Hayes has the shortest Red Beans and Rice / Chocolate Chip Muffin segment ever! Maybe we should start following a new team? Go Canes!
Inconsistent!
Mama Hayes uses one word to describe Miami's performance against Appalachian State, inconsistent. We recap another slow Miami start and barely walking away with a victory. We do comment on NOT being Florida State and how lucky we are. Previewing the Michigan State game, we realize that their strength's are going against Miami's weaknesses. Should be another Cardiac Canes experience! Go Canes!
Ohhh no! Alabama Happened!
Mama Hayes and I recap the tough loss to Alabama. Mom actually finds some positive out of the game. Some of them are reasonable and some are a...stretch. The Red Beans and Rice / Chocolate Muffins return and we predict the App State game. Go Canes!
Season 4 Kickoff! Oooh boy...Alabama!
Mama Hayes and I are back to kickoff Season 4 of Walking on With Chris Hayes. We preview what the Hurricanes will look like this year and that it should be ACC Coastal or bust. We try to talk ourselves into the Canes beating Alabama, find out if we get there! Happy to back and ready for another Hurricanes football season! Go Canes!

Title IX - Part 2
Mama Hayes has moved since the last podcast throwing the podcast schedule off just a little bit. But no worries, she took time away from unpacking boxes to unpack whatever the hell the NCAA pulled between the Men's and the Women's tournament! The team dives right into the inequality of the two tournaments and the NCAA's response. The team grows as Mama Hayes and Chris welcome in Izzy to lend her knowledge to the podcast. The three get into the impact of Title IX in the 1980's and 1990's. Do not worry, they bring back LAWYER MINUTIA TALK, YES! Stay tuned for part 3 of Title IX!
Title IX - Part 1
Mama Hayes and Chris get into the first of a three part series on Title IX. They lay out the plan for the next nine episodes of Mama Hayes's first podcast and the themes they will cover. This episode the two of them rope you into listening with...lawyer minutia talk! Riveting stuff! They explore why Title IX act was signed in 1972 and how it did not apply to sports at all when it was first signed. Mama Hayes continues to share some of her experiences and others she interviewed about their time playing women's sports in the 1960's and 1970's.
Women's Sports!
We're trying something new! Mama Hayes had an idea to talk about women's sports, the importance of it, and making sure to highlight their successes. We dive into what inspired her to start this podcast. Name and format is still being workshopped but we're getting our legs under us with this new adventure. We are both really excited and hoping you join us!
