Songwriting at Christmas Time, Inspiration
Biblical Content
What is the backstory to my new Christmas song?
Why did I entitle it My Christmas Waltz?
Where does our indifference towards one another come from and how does Christmas address it?
Just as Jesus came low to a manger to be near, how do we continue to press into God's presence today?
How many parallels can you find in the song that pertain to God's redemption plan?
Just a few questions you will have answered by tuning into this episode of Cindy Palin Music & Words.
Scripture covered: John 3:16, Phil. 2:7, Luke 22:42
Keep watch for the sheet music in the days to come.
Merry Christmas every heart!

God is near.
Songwriting at Christmas Time, Inner Change
Everyone wants change in some way or another, and there are plenty of workshops and programs that facilitate change.
Where do we look for inner change that is long-lasting, even eternal?
"Changed Forever" visits several important characters in the Christmas Story,
and how God's loving presence approaches them, and how they respond.
There is a suggested writing exercise included in this episode.

Willow's Lullaby Podcast
Historically lullabies are written in minor keys and contain sad and scary content, but that doesn't have to be what you sing or read to your child before bed. We can choose the words we want to soothe our children with, and taking words right from the book of Jeremiah is what I did. Listen to the story first, and then sing along. The book is available for purchase on my website if you wish to turn pages along with the podcast. Just visit my shop at www.newcindypalin.com. The song is also available there.
Check with your local Canadian bookstore to see if they have it on their shelf, or ask them to order it in.

The Kindness Seed
Our children are going to meet up with difficulties in life. Rather than be fearful, or 'cause them anxiety, we can plant seeds of truth in their hearts to equip them for their future.
"The Kindness Seed" was inspired by our grandchildren and some of the difficulties they have already encountered at pre-school, kindergarten, and school. This story is not an exhaustive lesson on kindness, but an attempt to plant a seed.
Consider these thoughts further...
The Parable of the Sower, found in Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23.
How do we cultivate good soil in our children's hearts, so the seed will take root and grow?
How do we, together, hear the Word and understand it?
Why is there so much repetition in this story?
Repetition in this instance creates a rhythm, helps memory, helps develop reading skills further.
Someday in the near future I would love to have this story illustrated and available in e-book and print format. I have fun imagining how the seed of kindness is planted in the children's hearts before they go to school. I try an imagine what the seed looks like. I delight in developing the story further in my mind. Have your child send me their version of what the seed of kindness looks like.

White April Rain
Writing a song can be inspired by a candid conversation, which is what happened this morning.
My husband saw snow, then drifts blowing off the roof of the house. I saw 'white April rain, and ghosts on the wind."
Everything about today should have brought me down, but instead...
"as if the winter in spring ever meant a thing, and what of snow in July - I'm not gonna cry...."
Have a listen in.
