Femme Fatale February: Gilda (1946)
She slides into my office and shuts the door.  Wearing a tight black dress with lips as red as hell.  I knew that this could mean trouble but I didn't mind.  She introduced herself and said she had a podcast called In Bed with Nikky.  I ask if I can take her coat and she obliges. Pointing to a chair for her to sit, I ask if I can make her a drink.  She smiles and says that would be a nice treat while she watches.  Nikky tells me she loves to watch.  I can feel myself getting very nervous when I ask what what does she like to watch.  She replies ever so gently but strong too, movies.  She loves to watch movies and she really enjoys it when others watch with her.  So I make myself a drink and join her to watch and discuss the film noir. Gilda (1946) starring Rita Hayworth This is the last in our Femme Fatale February series and it's been an absolute blast having all the amazing guests who have appear this month.  Please go back and listen to past episodes if you haven't already Sponsor Grammarly Ads by Reel Spoilers InSession Film

It was a dark and musty night when my next guest strolled into my podcast studio.  Wearing a white dress that seemed to hug her figure in al the right ways.  I don't really know what she looks like because after all this is  audio and I can't really see anything.  I just wanted to make this intro sound more  film noir like.   Anyways Blake Turck from Style Island and Sexy Thrillers joins The Vern to discuss a film classic.  Basic Instinct stars Sharon Stone as Catherine Tramell, a novelist who gets accused of murder.  We dive into this neo noir erotic thriller with our ice picks and pick apart many aspects of this movie in great detail.  We also discuss the sequel and the controversial Promising Young Woman too Read more of Blake's thoughts on Basic Instinct by reading this article about Catherine Tramell https://sexythrillers.com/2018/07/19/why-i-love-watching-catherine-tramell-in-basic-instinct/ Sponsor Grammarly Ads by Too Many Captains Simplistic Reviews Opening Song Night In Venice by Kevin MacLeod Closing Song

Movies That Changed My Life: Black Swan (2010)
It's October so that means it's a good time to look at some horror movies.  Now right away I can hear you screaming that this is a drama and in no way a horror flick.  I assure you it has all the tropes associated with the genre and belongs with all the classics.   Starring Natalie Portman as a ballerina who looses her mind in her obsession to be perfect. Black Swan had a lot of critical praise including Portman who took home the Oscar for best actress in 2010.   Yet there is so much to love about this movie and in my opinion it's one of director Darren Aaronofsky's best films he has ever made.  Listen to Vern explain that even after 10 years, the movie still holds up Ads By Four's a Crowd That Song From That Movie Shoutouts to Moviedrone Shooting The Shit Sponsor Grasshopper Virtual Business Phone Service http://www.trygrasshopper.com/cinemarecall

Movies That Changed My Life: Do The Right Thing(1989)
Sometimes reality can be influenced by what's going on in the arts, and other times. Art is just a mirror reflecting on what is happening in our reality. The movie that best shows that concept is Spike Lee's Do The Right Thing. A movie that is the best representation of cultures in America. Listen as The Vern gives his thoughts on this all time classic.

This is the only movie in this series that I can not fully reccomend others to watch. Forgotten Filmmakers: Neil LaBute
Hello Film Fans On today's bonus episode, I thought it would be cool to present you with a new series called Forgotten Filmmakers.  Every once in a while I will be presenting episodes on directors who had a very promising start to their career either critically or commercially.  But now have falling under.   Today's episode is on filmmaker Neil LaBute.  A playwright who started his career making films about 2 men who both decide to romance a woman and than dump her at the same time in 1997's In The Company of Men.  He would be the same guy who put CGI bees all over Nicholas Cage in 2006's The Wicker Man.   I, The Vern want to look back at other films of this once very great director and hope you can forgive him and seek out some of his past works. 13 Days of Halloween: The Laurie Strode Saga(Halloween, Halloween 2 and Halloween H20)
Before you watch a certain movie with the same title that wants you to ignore the other sequels.  The Vern gives you a nice retrospect on one of horror's great heroes, Laurie Strode played by Jamie Lee Curtis.  Listen in as he reviews and discusses Halloween, Halloween 2, and Halloween H20.  There are no other movies with this character except the new one that came out in 2018 but I do mention one other one that was a misstep in the franchise. 30 Days of Halloween: Review of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2
In 1974 director Tobe Hooper shocked audiences with his film about a group of young adults who unwillingly find a family of cannibals while vacationing in Texas.  The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was violent, brutal and had an almost snuff like vibe about it. The sequel came out in 1986 and it has a much more comic vibe to it, but is it still good.  Listen to The Vern's thoughts on a movie that is very much a statement on capitalism as it is a gory horror feature. ***NOTE*** This episode mentions other networks that no longer carry the podcast and a few of our social media apps have changed as well.  I apologize of any inconvenience.
