Ep 60: Exploring the Core Self: A Path to Emotional Healing
The conversation explores the importance of community and support in navigating challenges and healing. It delves into the role of attachment in personal growth and the fear of re-injuring oneself. The concept of psychological flexibility is discussed, emphasizing the need to observe and understand the patterns of pain and discomfort. The conversation also touches on the impact of childhood trauma and the importance of trust in the therapeutic process. The creation of a safe container for healing and the integration of different modalities, such as somatic work and art, are highlighted. The conversation concludes with a reflection on the need for communal support and the challenges of living in a society that values individualism.

Ep 45: Beyond the Medical Model: A Mindful Movement Guide to Living Well With Chronic Illness with Lindsay Voorhees OTR/L
Lindsay Voorhees is an occupational therapist, wellness coach, and mindful movement guide who helps people discover ways to thrive while living with chronic and complex health conditions. She worked for several years in hospital-based Occupational therapy settings, from an inpatient spinal cord injury unit to acute care and outpatient neurologic rehab. After witnessing the gaps and limitations within the healthcare system, she shifted her work from these more medicalized settings into a private practice better suited for instilling wellness and learning to thrive instead of just survive. Lindsay works with clients navigating chronic or complex health challenges, including multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue, autoimmunity, long COVID, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, cancer recovery, endometriosis, and more. She brings her expertise in neuro occupational therapy, mental health, and embodiment work into collaborative 1-to-1 client work as well as her group program, Root to Rise: Living Well with Chronic Illness. Ep 38: The 7 types of rest and how it applies to those of us with chronic illnesses
The concept of pacing is so difficult to get down because we get hung up on what we want to do in an ideal world vs what we’re capable of doing. And here’s the thing - the more we do this, the LESS capable we think we are. So there’s a shit ton of of trial and error - trying not to do too much and failing, then finding compassion for yourself AND properly supporting yourself with and during rest. Then trying again next time, slightly differently. This allows us to learn 1) what kind of supports we need 2) how long it takes us to recover from different kinds of activities 3) what’s important enough to us to use our energy on.

Ep 33: Exploring German New Medicine w/ Katherine Housh
In this episode, we explore the controversial field of German New Medicine and its potential impact on chronic illness. German New Medicine is a theory that suggests that all diseases, including chronic illnesses, are caused by unresolved emotional conflicts that affect our body's natural healing mechanisms. Katherine Housh, a German New Medicine practitioner, will explain the principles behind this theory and how it differs from traditional medical approaches.
It is my (Destiny Winters) opinion that GNM and all alternative approaches be used in conjunction with, not instead of, conventional medicine. Use your intuition and be open to dialogue with all types of practitioners, and never let fear guide your decisions. Let your grounded understanding and values guide your actions.

Therefore, it's important to understand how energy work is being integrated into western therapy practices. By seeing the benefits of energy work in a more scientific and evidence-based context, it becomes easier to embrace these practices as a way of supporting our overall well-being.
If you're looking to cultivate a sense of safety within your body, then energy work can be a powerful tool to help you achieve that. But it requires an open mind and a willingness to explore new possibilities.
