The Pandemic Nightlife

The Pandemic Nightlife

Trappy Hour has become such an iconic nightlife experience in the black NYC queer scene.  What started as a birthday party celebration took a life of its own and has now become such staple part of the black queer experience in NYC. It has been attended by Issa Rae, Tiffany Haddish, Lil Nas X and Andy Cohen among others.

In today's episode of City Living With Churchill, we revisit a 2020 conversation with the founder Leon about how he ended up in NYC, the black queer dating experience in the city,  impacts of the pandemic to the nightlife scene and the importance of black queer representation.

Transforming Trans Visibility and Community

Transforming Trans Visibility and Community

In this episode of City Living With Churchill, Churchill sits down in conversation with community organizer, nightlife aficionado, and ballroom mother Gia Love on Transforming Trans Visibility and changing the narrative from Trans suffering to one of joy and community love.

This conversation is even more relevant given the many policy attempts to oppress trans people and make their lives and those of their loved ones even more difficult.

To Live In New York City, You Have To Deal With Some Sh*t

To Live In New York City, You Have To Deal With Some Sh*t

New York City is awesome. We love it, the city, the restaurants, the culture and all of it. But you need to know how to deal with some shit if you live here. However, in the end it's worth it.  This week on City Living With Churchill, I interview roommates Lizzie & Avery on how they are adjusting to New York city from the midwest. They share their stories about how they ended up in the city, their first apartment experiences, making friends, night life and how the city can sometimes break you.  Dating in NYC is different than anywhere else. One of the biggest challenges of living or dating in New York City is exposure to vapid people. People do weird stuff to be cool and get laid. Lizzie & Avery share stories of their date nights and how guys approach them.  There are a lot of things about living in New York that most people don't know when they're moving here, this podcast episode provides some rookie insight. Let's Talk About Plants Baby!

Let's Talk About Plants Baby!

During the 2020 peak of Covid, we were all trying to find new hobbies and activities to keep us busy. One of those popular hobbies was getting into plants. Like most of you, I became a plant parent and adopted 14 plants as a beginner. If you are like me, you had some fumbles with your plants along the way and had to do research on how to take care of them.

This week's City Living with Churchill Episode will focus on all things plants with special guest Pamella of Hauzplant. We talk about her move from Haiti to Little Haiti (Flatbush, Brooklyn) and how she grew her plant collection to 200+ plants. She drops tips for beginners who are trying to get into plants as a hobby - what to think about and plant shop recommendations in New York City.

You can read & learn more about how I got into plants and see pictures on my medium page - citylivingwithchurchill.medium.com
