Clint and Claudia talk about movies

This week we dive into the complexities of Bone Tomahawk and Brawl from Cell Block 99 with one of Clint's friends, Eitan!

Clint chose two westerns for last week's episode but we start by talking about Twin Peaks for the first ten minutes. 

These movies largely focus on the Mexican revolution, betrayal, and male friendships.

 We highly recommend both movies :')

 We dig into these two Highsmith adaptations of Strangers on a Train and Ripley's Game. 

We talk about the Flintstones: Viva Rock Vegas, a young handsome Bruno Ganz, and homoerotic subtext. 

This week, Clint choses an Edgar Allen Poe double feature! We look at a returning director for us, Edgar J. Ulmer, and his loose adaptation of Poe's "Black Cat" and we watch Italian director Lucio Fulci's Black Cat.

It was Claudia's turn this week and she chose movies about widows falling in love with younger men. Ali: Fear Eats the Soul is a German film, directed by Rainer Werner Fassbinder who was inspired by Douglas Sirk's All That Heaven Allows. We talk about melodrama, colors, German history, and American suburbia. 

This week's double feature picks were chosen by Clint. At the end of the pod, I interview my dad about Cat People because it's one of his fave films.

Next week's theme is unlikely love. I chose All That Heaven Allows and Ali: Fear Eats the Soul.
