This report conversation highlights the diverse livelihood strategies of young people living in Uganda, the impacts of climate change on their lives, and the adaptation and mitigation strategies that they have employed to address the crisis so far. By foregrounding views of young people, our conversations presents a vivid picture of how climate disruptions are already impacting young people. These impacts are set to intensify in the coming decades.

Miss Earth is a major international beauty pageant that advocates for environmental awareness, conservation and social responsibility.  It is the third-largest beauty pageant in the world in terms of the  number of national-level competitions to participate in the world  finals. We catch up with Uganda's miss earth reclaiming mother earth.

Young people’s unprecedented mobilization around the world shows the  massive power they possess to hold decision-makers accountable. Their  message is clear: the older generation has failed, and it is the young  who will pay in full — with their very futures.Young people are not only victims of climate change. They are also  valuable contributors to climate action. They are agents of change,  entrepreneurs and innovators. Whether through education, science or  technology, young people are scaling up their efforts and using their  skills to accelerate climate action.

The media is an important player in cli­mate change com­mu­nic­a­tion –  the general population does not read sci­entific reports, spe­cialist  web­sites and blogs, or the reports of the IPCC. Although in theory, the  ‘facts’ of cli­mate change sci­ence should be reported in a  straight­for­ward way by news­pa­pers and tele­vi­sion net­works,  con­sid­er­able dif­fer­ences exist between the edit­orial lines taken  by dif­ferent media organizations about the reality and ser­i­ous­ness  of cli­mate change. Perhaps unsur­pris­ingly, there is a strong  rela­tion­ship between the polit­ical per­spective of a media  organization and its pos­i­tion on cli­mate change.
