Cogen is a retired USMC who has gone through unbelievable trials and tribulations to come out as strong as he is. We were honored to hear Cogen’s story and how finding CrossFit gave him a renewed sense of life. Injury Series: Plantar Fascia Pain

This is a new series from Clinically Pressed where for the next 10 weeks we will work out way up the body discussing common injuries and what you can do if you're suffering from one. We start with plantar fascia pain and general issues with the arch. This can be an debilitating injury but is one that if you can get to it to manage it early it can be controlled and dealt with. We discuss the anatomy of it, how to manage it early, modalities that we've had success with in treating it and rehab ideas to improve it and hopefully prevent it from coming back in the future.

Clinical Insight: Chronic Pain and the Radiculo-Neuropathic Myofascial Pain Model

In this Clinical Insight we take a shallow dive into the Radiculo-Neuropathic Myofascial Pain Model. This model was heavily influenced by Dr. Chan Gunn. It is a very solid model in the evaluation and treatment of chronic pain as it takes into consideration a lot of key components that play a role in the production of chronic pain. We talk through how the combination of Cannon’s Law, denervation and other factors play a role in chronic pain based on how this model describes it. At the end we discuss what are some practical recommendations that you can try immediately to see if there is something you can do if you are dealing with chronic pain. Wellness Insight: Minding the Middle

We live in a world where the extreme seems to be transitioning to the norm and when one extreme idea comes out, someone has to find something as far on the opposite side to counteract it. REPLAY: Ep. 23: Dr. Guy Jodarski-Organic (Valley) Vet

You may wonder why this would be under the 'nutrition' label when we are talking to a veterinarian but it will become very obvious as you get into the episode.  We had the privilege of talking to Dr. Guy Jodarski of Organic Valley.  We cover so much information about nutrition in this episode.  We talk organic vs. conventional, grass-fed vs. not, all the way down to soil quality.  If you have ever thought about organic but couldn't make up your mind for multiple reasons we suggest you check this one out because the information is great and backed by science.  We very much enjoyed the time with Dr. Guy and hope you enjoy the episode. -CP PodSquad

REPLAY: CP Short IV: EBP vs EIP

Evidence Based Practice (EBP) has been a big push in the world of science, health and performance. It makes sense as you should be supporting what you're doing with the research but should that be the only thing? What about the 'art' side of these areas? In this CP Short we talk about EBP vs. Evidence Influenced Practice (EIP) and what that all means.

REPLAY: Ep. 81: "Wish I Knew"-Strength & Conditioning

REPLAY: Ep. 81: "Wish I Knew"-Strength & Conditioning

The goal of any practitioner should be to continue to evolve and grow in their craft throughout their career. If you’re treating/training the exact same way you were 5-10 years ago you aren’t evolving and that could be a problem. In this mini-series I’ll be going through some of the things I “Wish I knew” earlier in my career and how I hope to get ahead of that in the future. The first subject is, strength and conditioning. I discuss both my own personal, wish I knew when it came to my own training and how much time was mis-used along the way and also the professional aspect of my strength and conditioning career. I get the distinct feeling I’m 5-10 YEARS behind where I could be and am in the process of catching up to ensure I’m doing it the best I can. The hope is some of these ideas will help others get to that point of understanding sooner than I did.
