Among all of his  accomplishments, Joe’s greatest are being a loving son to his parents  (his father, above, was also a lifelong coach!) and a devoted husband  and father to three children, who have all excelled in sports and  school.

CoachAdam34 & The Extraordinary Me Program Podcast Episode 13: Chey & Pav

Coach Adam of CoachAdam34 & The Extraordinary Me Program Podcast is honored & so very excited to share Episode 13 of The Extraordinary Me Program Podcast with featured guests: Chey & Pav.

Who are Chey & Pav?

Chey and Pav, two experienced middle school teachers from the Greater Toronto Area in Ontario, Canada, take listeners through the in’s and out’s of the field of Teaching, Learning and Leadership. Through their anecdotal, yet often comedic banter, laced with caring insightfulness, they take their audience into a conversation that is surely eye-opening and entertaining, while tackling some of the real, and ever-changing issues that exist in Education. Come join Chey and Pav; partake in the Staff Room chatter that all teachers and educators can connect with.

Chey Cheney, originally from Ottawa, Ontario, began teaching in the North Toronto area in 2002. Pav Wander, born and raised in the North Toronto area, began teaching in 2007 in the very same school she attended in grades 6, 7 & 8. She has been in the area her whole life, and therefore has a very strong understanding of the neighboring community and therefore student needs. Between the two of them, the team is very intuitive and respective of what the community has to offer. In August of 2019, The Staffroom Podcast was initiated by them as a way to increase professional development amongst teachers, by discussing pertinent topics related to the field of education in many aspects. They went on to start a Live Drive Educational Radio show called The Drive, on VoicEd Radio. This amazing broadcast, filled with great music, lots of relevant conversation about education, and a widening community of dedicated educators, airs on Friday mornings at 9am Eastern time.

CoachAdam34 & The Extraordinary Me Program Podcast Episode 12: Allison Carmichael

CoachAdam34 & The Extraordinary Me Program Podcast Episode 12: Allison Carmichael

Coach Adam of CoachAdam34 & The Extraordinary  Me Program Podcast are honored to share Episode 12 of the podcast with featured guest, the extraordinary Allison Carmichael

As a woman, wife, mother, and school principal, Allison has endured her lot of stress.  November of 2017 she began a journey of conquering that  stress through the study of and practice of meditation.  The simple  addition of meditation to her life has made profound positive changes in her  attitude, along with home & work balance.  As a lifelong learner, and career  educator, she felt she could not keep this information to herself & found a great opportunity to share her transformation strategies  with others who also share a battle with stress, in hopes of bettering  the entire educational community through the retention of quality  teachers and teacher leaders amidst their stressful jobs.

Allison's platform is intended to help de stigmatize public opinion of meditation being only for “yogis” and actually allow all people to see  the benefits from these practices no matter who they are.  Science’s  study of the brain in relation to meditation makes it impossible to argue the benefits.  Mental health is underrepresented in pop culture as an area of concern in society,  yet depression rates are at an all time high, as are the prescription of antidepressants.  The statistics on  children suffering from stress is startling as we hear kids in the third  grade struggling with anxiety.  Something needs to change.  As Allison learns  to break her second arrows, she hopes her story will help others to break theirs.

Stay the Course. Stay Extraordinary Allison. - Coach Adam.

CoachAdam34 & The Extraordinary Me Program Podcast Episode 11: Sara Lynn

CoachAdam34 & The Extraordinary Me Program Podcast is honored to share Episode number 11 featuring the Extraordinary Sara Lynn.

Sara’s life changed dramatically  after the rock-climbing accident in 2001, at the age of 16. Her teenage,  and young adult years centered around therapy appointments,  rehabilitation, and chronic pain. Her determination to fully recover and  walk again required hours of effort daily.

She  worked relentlessly to regain her lost skills. Sara also tried  alternative therapeutic methods to complement physical therapy  activities. She added massage, aqua stretch, yoga, chiropractic,  structural integration, osteo-manipulation, plant ceremony meditation,  cannabis, and CBD.

Within  2 years, Sara went from being paralyzed from the chest down to  utilizing a wheelchair, to using two forearm crutches, then one, then  two hiking sticks, then one just for balance. Sara did not let her  physical disabilities stop her from living an active and fulfilling  life. She married and was blessed with 4 children.

However, after a decade of  marriage, they divorced. Then Sara put herself through school, to obtain  her degree in Psychology. While finishing school she worked as a  substitute teacher (specializing in the special education department),  CTT, and started a modeling career at the age of 32. But mobility  continued to be a problem, as many of the schools in which she worked  were not well adapted to her needs. Large campuses and the need to  change rooms quickly were obstacles that she needed to remove if she was  to be successful. Sara and her brother quickly went to work on a  solution. They developed a prototype for a new mobility device to aid  Sara to go from room to room quickly and easily.

CoachAdam34 & The Extraordinary Me Program Podcast Episode 6 with featured guest Karen Giuffre

On this episode of CoachAdam34 & The Extraordinary Me Program Podcast, Coach Adam welcomes featured guest Karen Giuffré.

Karen is the devoted founder and administrator of Voyagers’ Community School. She is a dedicated advocate for students and parents and an impassioned education activist unwavering in her commitment to create stronger, healthier learning environments that foster the spirit of childhood while arming students with valuable education and life and leadership skills.

Launched in 2004, Karen opened Voyagers’ Community School with a mission to provide intellectual, social, and emotional education to children ages three months to 18 years. With the firm belief that traditional education is a stifling and antiquated practice of rigid standardized testing and misleading and outdated textbooks, Karen created the framework for a new “living” curriculum with the philosophy that coursework can change based on student interest, learning style, and immediate needs.

Voyagers’ was born to give students a vital combination of quality academic education; critical thinking and problem-solving skills; opportunities to innovate, explore, and articulate; and the ability to be flexible, nimble, persistent, and resilient in handling daily affairs. With this core culture, Karen has grown the institution into a $1.3M, 87-student, 25-employee non-profit organization with intent focus on spreading awareness and gaining supporters to establish Voyagers’ Community School as a household name and this progressive educational concept into a national movement.

Karen is capturing the attention of the media, political figures, parents, teachers, entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, and social and academic activists with her conviction and proven expertise. A respected industry thought leader, she is an active and influential member of a number of boards, committees, and organizations where she brings deep expertise in non-profit operations, curriculum development, and educational revolution as a global undertaking.

Karen holds a Master of Education degree from Goddard College and a post graduate certificate in College and Career Counseling from University of California, Los Angeles. She has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Government from Hood College and is trained in Exercise Psychology.
