Lorraine Badoy of the NTF-ELCAC

Lorraine Badoy of the NTF-ELCAC

What is the NTF-ELCAC?

An organization created during this administration that stirred the pot and jolted a system that's been used to the presence of armed insurgency.

But what/who else is there? Who are they really? What are the other programs involved in their operations?

Undersecretary Lorraine Marie T. Badoy details the functions, the purpose, and the lives changed by this program. We had a really good conversation and she answered all questions I had for her.

**As always, my podcast is a platform for discussion. Anybody from the other side that wants to air their sentiments is more than welcome 💯👍

UFC 266 Recap with Rico Robles

UFC 266 Recap with Rico Robles

Nick Diaz returns to the octagon for UFC 266 against Robbie Lawler after years of getting laid off in Mixed Martial Arts competitions. Several years ago, he was suspended for marijuana use, and the last we’ve seen him was with Anderson Silva in a fight that was ruled a no contest.

Robbie Lawler gets a shot at redemption against Nick Diaz in the UFC 266 main event, and all fight fans couldn’t wait. After the victor’s hands were raised, did we get our money’s worth? Was the anticipation fulfilled with the culminating event?

We answer these questions with the help of our guest – Rico Robles, from RX 93.1.

Also, in this episode are updates from boxing, ONE Championship, and other combat sports leagues from here and abroad.

UFC 263: What Went Wrong? | Combat Sports Weekly with Rico Robles

UFC 263: What Went Wrong? | Combat Sports Weekly with Rico Robles

UFC 263 fight delivered, and everyone saw high-level MMA by the best fighters this planet offers.

One notable thing in this event was the many close calls that came with each fight.

What would have happened if Nate Diaz had more time in the 5th round?

What if Marvin Vettori was able to finish that rear-naked choke when he had Israel Adesanya’s back?

What if Brandon Moreno decided to box in the pocket with Deiveson Figueiredo?

All of these questions will be answered, plus more combat sports news with your favorite Titos of Fighting as we serve you another plate of martial arts goodness from around the leagues in this edition of Combat Sports Weekly.

Joining us on this episode is our recruit to the team: Tito Rico Robles from RX 93.1, as he shares his insights on the fights and passion for combat sports and the community in it.

Are YouTubers Destroying Boxing?

Are YouTubers Destroying Boxing?

Are YouTubers destroying boxing?

The latest spectacle in entertainment sports features Logan Paul against Floyd Mayweather. A couple of months after, his brother Jake will go into a boxing match of his own against former UFC Champion Tyrone Woodley.

On the far side of the spectrum is the swan song of an all-time great.

Manny Pacquiao faces a dangerous opponent in Errol Spence Jr., The eight-division champion trying to cap off his illustrious career by trying to snag two belts in one night.

But the question remains.

Are these “freak show fights” the next upcoming pay-per-view thing? How will this affect the entire industry of combat sports?

In this video, Kiko Matos talks about his viral video boxing match with Fliptop rapper Damsa Abrenica on Combat Sports Weekly. Kiko Matos and Damsa Abrenica fought at the Battle of YouTubers organized by fellow YouTuber Makagago with Sabong International. Relissa Lucena: Coach Franco Says Podcast #64

Relissa Lucena: Coach Franco Says Podcast #64

Relissa Lucena is my guest on this episode of Coach Franco Says Podcast.

Relissa Lucena is an activist Mother. She narrates on Coach Franco Says Podcast how her daughter AJ Lucena got recruited as a minor as an activist and would later on the go on a transformation journey that led to her leaving her home and dedicating her life on the streets.

The traumatic experience led Relissa Lucena to dig deep into the organizations that possessed her daughter, which would, later on, reveal alleged ties with the Communist Party of the Philippines. When its armed group - The New People's Army were having encounters with the military, Relissa Lucena's motherly instincts led her to believe that her daughter's life is in danger.

She found other parents that went through similar ordeals, and they all found themselves in the office of Senator Bato Dela Rosa which conducted a Senate inquiry regarding their plight. Relissa Lucena then tells Coach Franco Says Podcast how this led to them meeting former NPA rebels who shared their experiences and struggles as part of the armed rebellion.

This pushed Relissa and her co-parents to collaborate with government efforts and the private sector to create "Yakap ng Magulang". This is a non-profit organization that aims to bring underage recruits back to their homes, expose the manipulative recruitment process of the CPP-NPA-NDF and create more awareness regarding the realities of communist recruitment in educational institutions.

As of this recording, AJ Lucena is still not home with her family.

You can support their cause by liking and following their projects via this page: https://www.facebook.com/yakapngmagulang

Combat Sports Weekly 25 Coach Franco Says Podcast #63

Combat Sports Weekly 25 Coach Franco Says Podcast #63

Combat Sports Weekly goes round 25 in this episode of Coach Franco Says Podcast.

In this edition of Combat Sports Weekly, the boys of Dstry MNL and Coach Franco discuss all the latest updates in the world of fighting and relevant topics that concern combat sports.

We discuss the much-awaited return of the Notorious Conor Mcgregor as he fights Dustin Poirier in a rematch that's been long overdue. Dustin seeks redemption from a loss he suffered from a then up and coming Mcgregor. What adjustments will he employ in the rematch? Will cage rust affect Conor's performance? Combat Sports Weekly tries to answer this and provide you with our predictions.

The hosts of Combat Sports Weekly then shift their attention to the sudden resurgence of Karate. Mainly due to the popularity of the Netflix series Cobra Kai and the growing fan base of Karate Combat, we see a growing interest in the sport and hopefully, this translates to new sign-ups in all karate gyms.

As the conversation runs deeper, the boys of Combat Sports Weekly reminisce about the olden days of dojo storms and the violent underground scene. This allows for the topic about an alleged fight club that organized fights around metro manila. Find out the name of this organization, how they operated and what movie inspired them (allegedly) to carry out their "events" without getting busted.

Combat Sports Weekly 23: Coach Franco Says Podcast #61

Combat Sports Weekly goes on Round 23 and we have so many things to talk about in this episode of Coach Franco Says Podcast.

As always Combat Sports Weekly is not complete is the boys of Dstry MNL are not here. I am joined by my co-hots Karl De Mesa and JC Reyes. Combat Sports Weekly kicks things off with the last edition of Karate Combat for the year. Karl De Mesa gives us the low down on the fights and the extra segment wherein Bas Rutten discusses the rules with The Mountain himself. This is very important for the Combat Sports Weekly and Coach Franco Says Podcast community since it will give them a better understanding of the rule set for the next season.

Afterwards, the hosts of Combat Sports Weekly put their attention on the notable fights that happened in the UFC and ONEFC. Keen observation by Coach Franco is the evolution of the striking game and the transitions high-level fighters use in order to gain momentum and advantage against their opponents. Combat Sports Weekly chose 3 fights to break down and analyse for this Coach Franco Says Podcast episode.

We cap things off by discussing another social gym dilemma that is relatively not discussed by many but is happening. Combat Sports Weekly takes on another elephant in the room by tackling the issue of fitness gyms instructors teaching combat sports moves to their clients.    What do you think comes out of this discussion?
