Cocky Nation: A JSU Podcast

A lot has happened since our last episode. We recap the seasons for Beach Volleyball, Baseball, and Softball and look into next football season. To add some variety in this week's episode, we discuss other topics such as the WCWS, the CWS, DCI, and next year's Marching Southerners show. We can't wait to start season 5 closer to Volleyball and Football starting, but until then it's summer time!

Softball and Baseball had a bit of a rough weekend with Softball going 0-4 at the Tennessee Classic and Baseball losing their series with Bradley 2-1. This upcoming weekend closes out the out of conference stretch for softball before heading into conference play, they play at home in the JSU Gamecock Invite. Baseball plays Auburn and South Alabama this week, which should provide a good test for our boys. Its also time to hit the beach and work on our tans as Beach Volleyball kicks off their season in Montgomery at the Huntingdon Beach Bash.

Baseball and Softball had a successful weekend as Basketball ended on a high note. Baseball won their series against MVC favorite, Southern Illinois, while Softball went 4-1 on the weekend at the WKU Classic. Softball has a huge test next at the Tennessee Classic as they face Tennessee, Belmont, and App State. Is this a repeat of a past season?

As Basketball wraps up its season, Softball and Baseball are kicking it into full gear. Softball had a pretty successful weekend at Southern Miss for the Golden Eagle Classic and Baseball lost its series to Georgia but picked up a win in the process. Could this be a special season for Baseball and Softball? We shall see moving forward.

Woah, there was a lot to discuss this week. Basketball is seeing double Ls after a weekend date with Kennesaw State. The Marching Southerners release the selections to its already announced show theme and with a cool title logo to commemorate Dr. Bodiford's 30th year at JSU. Softball had a fantastic opening weekend at the JSU after withdrawing from the Mercer tournament. Football announced a new home/home series with Southern Miss for 2024 and 2025. Baseball starts its season this upcoming weekend and travels to Athens, GA for a series against Georgia. Whew, that's a lot to discuss in a short amount of time!

After taking a week off for family reasons, Cody and Brandon are back to discuss JSU Basketball and take a look at the upcoming Softball and Baseball seasons. The ASUN Tournament is getting closer for basketball, so what are the chances for our teams to make the 10-team tournament? Can JSU get past a double header with KSU with two wins?

JSU Basketball is continuing to struggle in ASUN play. How does this effect making the tournament? What does JSU need to do to secure a spot in the tournament? The Marching Southerners are doing something a little different with their show for next year. Be sure to cast your vote for the show you want to see in 2023 before voting closes February 1st.

Cocky Nation is back after our Christmas/Winter Break. JSU Basketball has since been on a rough stretch, can they turn it around as we head deeper into ASUN play? JSU Football has also released its 2023 schedule. We give our thoughts on our first FBS schedule and say which games we are most excited about. Last but not least Brandon tells us how his trip to Frisco and reveals who his new FCS team is.

Basketball is headed into the end of its OOC schedule right as we take a break for the holidays. Brandon and Cody recap the Utah and Reinhardt games before we dive into the games from now till January 7th. Hope everyone has safe travels during the holiday season and enjoy time with family. Just because football is over doesn't mean aren't going to talk about the FCS Playoffs. We discuss who we think will advance to the semifinals plus recap JSU's win over ETSU in basketball.

JSU wrapped up its football season with a dominating win over UCA and finished our time in the FCS with one final winning record. We have enjoyed our time in the FCS and won't forget the memories we have made. JSU volleyball had a very successful season and now looks forward as they prepare for next season in C-USA. Basketball is now the sole focus moving forward. Tough stretch of games over the last week and a half,  but there is some progress happening. Long road ahead of JSU as they finish out their OOC and head into ASUN play.

JSU athletics had a lot of success this past week, but also a few struggles. Volleyball locked up the 3 seed in the ASUN Tournament as they won their last two conference games of the season. Football had a massive dominating win over EKU for the first time since 2018 and first time at home since 2017. Basketball had a sloppy and tough night against UIC and came up short in a hard fought game. We take a look at the upcoming schedule for football and basketball as its a tough road ahead. Football travels to UCA for our last game at the FCS level. Basketball plays Alabama, hosts Elon, then travels to New Mexico for the Lobo Classic over Thanksgiving and takes on New Mexico, Northern Colorado, and North Dakota St.

There has been more C-USA development on their TV deal. Southerners Reunion is here and its sure to bring a big crowd to JSU as the Gamecocks take on Eastern Kentucky. Basketball is finally here and the first game of the season was a big win! Listen as Brandon and Cody discuss all of this and more.

After a two week hiatus, the boys are back to talk about some interesting developments with C-USA, the deal with the football team the past two games, among other JSU activities. Who will be next for C-USA? We give our thoughts on what direction C-USA will go moving forward.

Its rivalry yet again for JSU with a much older rival. JSU and UNA will meet on the field at a neutral site in Madison, AL for the first ever game at the new minor league baseball stadium, Toyota Field. Can the Gamecocks run away with this one easily, or will it be another close fight? How well do you know your mascots? We do a bit of mascot trivia and test each other on who knows more.

Its Rivalry Week in Jacksonville, AL. Kennesaw State come to The Ville in hopes of keeping the Gamecocks from picking up a win in this intense series. Cody and Brandon recap a dominating week 4 win and look towards the unofficial "Battle for the Silver Comet Trail". Volleyball started off conference play with two wins and looks to continue their success this weekend on the road.

How well do you know opponents that JSU has faced? Brandon tests Cody's knowledge of five opponents the JSU has faced. JSU Volleyball is still on a roll going into ASUN play despite an extremely close loss to Auburn. Football did not ride the storm well against Tulsa, so what exactly happened? We discuss that and the upcoming game against Nicholls.

JSU got a dominate win over former conference foe Murray St, while volleyball get another tournament victory plus a regular season win to stay undefeated. Cody and Brandon discuss this and the upcoming game against FBS Tulsa.

Cody and Brandon recap Week 0 against SFA and Week 1 against Davidson, as well as some news regarding the ASUN football. Congrats to the JSU Volleyball team for a clean sweep in all matches and the tournament at Indiana University. The Gamecocks race into Week 2 of the football season looking to pick up a win in Murray, KY against an old foe in the Murray St Racers and go 3-0 for the first time since 2010.

We are back from a long hiatus just in time for the start of football season! Lots of exciting things are happening ahead of football's jump to FBS and C-USA, as well as basketball scheduling some major opponents. JSU Basketball is on a roller coaster ride after a strong 10-game win streak. What happens moving forward. Cody and Brandon discuss this and more on this week's episode of Cocky Nation. JSU is also morning the loss of former Baseball coach, Rudy Abbott. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Abbott family.

Gamecock Basketball has been on a huge roll since losing to Alabama. The Lady Gamecocks have been absolutely stellar the entire year. Gamecock Football has released its 2022 schedule, pretty much filled its new coaching staff, and signed some pretty amazing guys in National Signing Day. Cody, Brandon, and special guest Eric Geeter discuss the recent success in basketball and the new football era. Expect Eric Geeter, original co-host, to be back on more episodes.

JSU now has their new head football coach in Rich Rodriguez. We discuss the press conference held to introduce Coach Rich Rod. We also dive into the past week of Gamecock Basketball and the future schedule.

Football is coming to an end with our last game against a familiar foe, Eastern Kentucky in Richmond, KY. Does Troy suck? We think so, we discuss the amazing and heartbreaking triple overtime thriller that happened in Troy, AL. What has happened to the C-USA talks? Well we bring on Grant Turner, fan of future C-USA member Sam Houston, on the show to talk about the move for both schools, as well as new developments on the conference as a whole.

After a good win over Abilene Christian, a new era started at JSU. We are in Basketball mode now. Listen as Cody and Brandon dive into what is to come for JSU football and the upcoming basketball season.

Basketball is starting up and we can't wait to start covering it. Baseball and Softball just released their schedules. Football lost the last two games and are virtually out of contention for the FCS Playoffs, but that's not the biggest news. JSU is yet again likely to move conferences, this time to the FBS and join C-USA. Is this a good or bad decision? Listen as Brandon and Cody discuss the pros and cons to the move, as well as possible teams that might move with them.

JSU travels to Kennesaw, GA to take on the Kennesaw State Owls. Could there be a name for this intense soon to be conference rivalry?

Brandon and Cody are back for season 3 of Cocky Nation with some new thing done to our podcast. We review the spring season for JSU football while also previewing the upcoming 2021 season and the first football game against UAB in Montgomery.

Gamecock sports are done for the season. We made it through COVID and out of the OVC. We have special guest, Will Siler, on for the last episode of season two. We preview the ASUN and discuss its advantages and difficulty compared to the OVC as well as the Southland. We also take a way too early look at the AQ7/Wac Sun, we discuss transfers out of JSU, as well as give our way too early standings predications for the AQ7/Wac Sun.
