Coffee Talks

By Thom Dwyer

Who doesn't love coffee? I find I have some of my most influential and important conversations over coffee in cafes, at home or wherever I find myself drinking coffee.
So I thought what if these conversations were recorded and became a window into the life I live as a creataive and also the people I have conversations with over coffee.

You'll know Josh most likely from his Bachie recaps on social media, or perhaps his Chocolate milk devouring video, maybe you saw him on sunrise dancing in the background or throwing things into precise locations, either way, Hijosh is fairly well known throughout the social media platform across Australia.

In this episode, I sit down and chat with Josh over coffee about how he gets his ideas, where it all comes from, but also we touch base on the serious side of reality TV and the places his platform has put him to a point of friendship with contestants and realising his weight on social media.

As always please check out Josh's platforma where you can find all his hilarious videos and every that goes with it.

Ben is one of my best friends and so we get a little weird in this episode, but you know that's just us haha. Bens channel is family friendly and built around his personality and sense of humour. We talk about how he worked out what worked for him and to manage the algorithms or to decide to just do what he wants.

In this podcast, I sit down with Robbie Mortimer to talk about his journey as a musician. Robbie has a family with some pretty big sporting achievements, his father, uncle and Brother all playing football to quite a high level of playing, so I wanted to know whether there was any pressure to pursue football in the same way? We talk about how he pursued football for a while and even moved to Brisbane for it, but it was his love of music that always got the best end.

We talk about trying to find his genre and voice as a musician and travelling the world for music plus playing in country towns on the stage opening for the Beach Boys and the Temptations.

This Episode is with someone who I've known for a long time, and who has made a name for himself and built a successful music tuition business over a number of years, and now has a vision to build further beyond music tuition but at the same time is exploring the total opposite of the creative realm and is exploring engineering.

Aaron also dives into balancing family life and work life. How having two kids and a wife works alongside what was primarily after hours teaching. But also how they as a family travel the world and manage to experience that as a family.

REAL TALK, How many influencers and content creators are being honest with you and tell you most of their lives, letting you in on the highs and the lows. Do you want to engage with and connect with authentic brands and accounts or just see the highlight reel of peoples lives! I've never wanted my social media accounts to be a highlight reel of my life, I've always wanted it to be real honest and authentic showing the ups AND the downs so there's a little bit of heart to heart real talk in this episode.

Within that too, I'm working on rebranding the feel of my Wedding photography Business Light City Creative, so I'm taking you on that journey and this episode is the first discussion in that journey, it's a bit of a rant and explaining why I'm rebranding.

005 - Joel Alston; How to Build a Brand to Take you Around the World

This Episode was recorded in Newcastle Australia by Newcastle Beach with the legend himself Joel Alston from Barefoot and bearded.
www.barefootandbearded.com
You can find my work www.thomdwyer.com

Joel is an abosultely wild spirited sould who loves adventure, in fact he froths it so hard he imbedded it entirely into his business ans brand and that today is the reason he flew to Las Vegas for a dessert elopement, he built this brand that takes him around the world shooting the coolest couples doing what he loves and in this episode we dive into how he did that.

When you talk to Joel, his way of thinking automatically he rubs off onto you and he challenges the traditions set by weddings, creativity and society and I think that makes him pretty worthy of a podcast episode. We dive into his brand, his influences and his goals and aspirations as a photographer.

002 - Eric Floberg; Getting Started as a Photographer

002 - Eric Floberg; Getting Started as a Photographer

Episode 002 was recorded on the road, I was travelling to Canada to shoot a wedding and on a total whim, shot a DM via Instagram to Eric Floberg, (by this point I hadn't even started anything for the podcast it was just an idea in my head, I had only one Microphone) of course he said yes which meant I needed to get things sorted including flights, hotels and travel dates to Chicago.
I touched down in Chicago after travelling between three major Cities in Canada and the US, and the next day recorded this episode with Eric in his creative space, Creative Club Chicago.
Eric is a Photographer, Filmmaker, Youtuber and Entrepreneur. We talked about a whole range of things, from shooting street photography and how to be comfortable, how he worked with Youtube stars Mango Street, and how his photography business kicked off and the struggles that come with being a sought-after wedding photographer and balancing family life.
I hope you enjoy this episode and if you like Coffee Talks subscribe!
