The future of wolves and why we need to protect them

The future of wolves and why we need to protect them

Wolves are one of the most important animals in the world's ecosystem. They keep deer and elk populations in check, which can benefit many other plant and animal species. The carcasses of their prey also help to redistribute nutrients and provide food for other wildlife species, like grizzly bears and scavengers. An example of their role can be noted in their the documentary, "Wolves saved Yellowstone National Park - The Northern Range".

I love wolves and I believe they're one of the most undervalued by society. The Apex Protection Foundation is doing incredible work to preserve these beautiful animals.

Here's why they're being eradicated in Norway.

🇳🇴 Norwegians Alette & Ink do a podcast named SKRIM - a collection of fascinating Norwegian #TrueCrime stories. My obsession with True Crime and #Norway (known as Norge to Norwegians) led me to their podcast when I was craving both these subjects, so I reached out to them and it led to this intriguing episode. In this episode, we ended up covering a host of really exciting topics that ranged from life in Norway, Norwegian culture, Norwegian and South African music, Norse mythology, Norway's role in the heartbreaking decline in the population of Wolves, #MentalHealth, the power of nature in the struggle against mental health, and more.

The role of human physiology and psychology's combined effects on human wellness

Ashleigh-Jayne Tennier has an incredible passion for healing. Over the years she has learnt that there is not one aspect of health that is more important than the other and to achieve complete wellness, the entire being of body, mind, and soul should be considered. After a health scare, Ashleigh was placed on chronic medication and experienced severe weight gain. she was very unhappy within herself, with her body, her health, and her environment, and found comfort in food. From the weight gain and medication, she experienced terrible side effects to her health, self-worth, and confidence and decided to make some important changes to her lifestyle. She began ‘dieting’ to drop weight quickly, experimented with a variety of weight loss supplements, and decided to see a dietitian and further educate herself better on everyday healthy nutrition so she went on to study her BSc. Med. Hons in Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Cape Town (UCT). During her own self-discovery journey & healing process, she became an International LightarianTM Reiki Master and Life Alignment, practitioner. With these healing modalities and other techniques she has learnt over the years, she’s seen the importance that emotional & vibrational alignment plays on our health. Ashleigh’s goal is to assist anyone looking to improve their life by improving their vibrational frequency and supporting a journey to a healthy relationship with themselves and their bodies as well as finding a healthier, more peaceful relationship with food. Ashleigh-Jayne Tennier is registered with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and the Discovery Vitality Network. Kagiso Msimango - Unf*cking Yourself, Social Tribalism, Adrenal Fatigue, Aliens, and Media Bias

Kagiso Msimango - Unf*cking Yourself, Social Tribalism, Adrenal Fatigue, Aliens, and Media Bias

🇿🇦Kagiso Msimango is an author, former media Executive, and incredible human being. It's hard to find brilliant people with an equally high EQ - and that's what Kagiso possesses. She has released 3 books and her latest release, "Unf*uck yourself, Unf*ck the World" is a powerful memoir of her struggles with Adrenal Fatigue and how she overcame the challenges she faced with it. It's one of the most powerful books and it's one that we need to really pay attention to. Honest. Insightful. Hilarious. Practical. Enlightening. I bought the ebook on Amazon but this is one I need to get a physical copy of. A brilliant piece of work by one of the most brilliant minds I've ever met. Crippled by burnout, in a state of near-collapse, bestselling author and corporate leader, Kagiso Msimango embarks on a powerful journey of unf*cking herself. What she discovers, after getting little relief from mainstream healing methods, (while maxing out her medical aid in the process), is a simple and revolutionary truth: the more we unf*ck ourselves, the more we unf*ck our world. A book filled with unique revelations to save your life. We had a powerful conversation that ranged from alternate life forms, the current state of society, social ideologies, and how our cognitive biases are placing restrictions on us. Kagiso is a Cheerleader and Liberator of Women. She supports women to overcome the internal challenges which keep them from attaining their goals, through her writing, speaking and coaching - face-to-face, on radio and television. Kagiso is the founder of The Goddess Academy, a personal transformation organization for women who dare to pursue their heart's truest desires. Kagiso is now a Life and Brand Strategist. You can connect with her on LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/kagisomsimango. Josie Field on life in the UK, Record Labels, Yoga, Music, and NASA

Josie Field on life in the UK, Record Labels, Yoga, Music, and NASA

🇬🇧She's one of my favourite musicians of all time and it was such a pleasure to catch up after a few years. Josie now lives in Alvechurch, Worcestershire (UK) and we had a beautiful, insightful conversation about Space, Yoga, minimalistic living, starting a new life, the ups and downs of the music industry, and so much more 🎼 Watch the episode on YouTube. Nominated for 9 South African Music Awards over her last five releases, it’s evident that singer-songwriter Josie Field has no intention of slowing down. Having recently relocated to the United Kingdom, and with her mark on the South African music scene very much made, Josie now expands her audience and brings her music to the world. A combination of Florence and the Machine meets Janis Ian meets Aretha Franklin, Field’s voice is distinct and unusual. Her signature sound is a potent mix of lyricism and fire, heart-felt issues and tender constructions, she has a unique textured blues-infused voice and soulful vocal delivery style. Rooted in folk but having experimented with blues, country, jazz and with strong elements of soul coming through on her latest release, Josie is no ordinary singer-songwriter. She calls her sound ‘Indie Soul’ aptly the title of her brand new solo album which garnered her ninth SAMA nomination for Best Adult Contemporary Album last year. Indie Soul is a modern fusion of acoustic meets digital with a deep 60’s soul flavour that tugs on the heartstrings. “Not many artists have the opportunity to keep writing, recording and releasing albums that they love, as I have done over the last ten years. I consider myself extremely lucky to be able to continue my musical journey, Indie Soul is another moment of my life captured in time and I am really proud of the album.” - Josie Field Experience the intimate nature and soulful performance of one of South Africa’s most versatile and experienced singer-songwriters. Suede on PLANET AFROPUNK, SA Punk Music, and more

🇺🇸We popped over to Los Angeles for a quick chat about “PLANET AFROPUNK: PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE IS BLACK.” with Suede. As people rally across the world for Black liberation, we are using technology this year to bring together the largest virtual gathering of the worldwide Black creative community in one, curated online space for the first time in our 15-year history. This festival pays homage to the reality that the upheavals we’ve gone through over the course of the year are far from the novel; they have been central to the Black experience across space and time, which is recognized in this year’s theme, “PLANET AFROPUNK: PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE IS BLACK.”   This Black cultural explosion is taking place on 23 - 25 October and you can RSVP on www.planetafropunk.com to be part of this global celebration. We managed to squeeze in a quick chat in-between edits for this weekend's PLANET AFROPUNK (you can hear the soundchecks in the background which gave me goosebumps) to chat about the showcase and also some of the South African artists featured on the line-up.  It was a short and to-the-point discussion that was cut shorter than expected as a result of connectivity issues, but we're lining up a full session to chat AFROPUNK, the history of I AM SUEDE, music, the state of American politics, and what he - and the artists he works with - have pivoted during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Suede is currently the Social Media Manager for The Roots, Questlove and works with Global sensations like Anderson Paak, Lauryn Hill, The Internet, and so many more. Forged in New York City and currently travelling the world, Suede is the brains behind boutique creative ideas and implementation factory, I am Suede Consulting. Follow him on Instagram (@iamsuede) for on-the-go updates on #SuedeDiary and PLANET AFROPUNK.

Esjay Jones on Chester Bennington, American politics, life after South Africa, and Female Leadership

🇺🇸Esjay Jones is a South African-born producer & songwriter now based between Los Angeles and Joshua Tree, California. She had her first major cut in the U.S. alongside co-writer Justin Tranter in 2013 with the single “I Choose U” by TimeFlies on Def Jam Records.  We have a long-standing history but haven't connected as much as we would like since she moved to the United States.  I was really excited to host her on this episode to chat about life, music, living in America, mental health, politics, and what it took to make the move from South Africa.  In the interview, we chat in-depth about her work on Grey Daze's album (Chester Pennington of Linkin Park's first band), working with Head from Korn, Billy Corgan from the Smashing Pumpkins, and the various projects she's been working on since moving to the States.   We reference moments from her production sessions with French producer Lucas 'D'Angelo and what it was like listening to outtakes of Chester Bennington recording vocals in his late teens with Grey Daze.
