Helen is the 2018 Pharmacist of the Year and the 2019 PSNZ Shark Tank winner for her service in providing real-time glucose monitoring in poorly controlled Type 2 diabetes.

Episode 3 - Ravi Sharma on his career path and leadership

 Ravi Sharma is the Director of England at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

He has held previous roles as the National Clinical Lead for Clinical Pharmacy and Genomics at NHS England and as the Vice President of the Primary Care Pharmacy Association. 

Ravi continues to work as a prescribing pharmacist in a GP practice on a weekly basis. More recently, Ravi received a scholarship by the NHS to complete a Masters in Genomic Medicines at Imperial College London and has just been awarded fellowship by the Faculty of UK Clinical Informatics. 

In this episode we discuss Ravi's career journey so far, his role at a General Practice and advice to pharmacists considering moving into new roles.

In this episode we will interview Carina Walters on codeine misuse and the opioid crisis, international trends in codeine consumption, the recent up-scheduling of codeine combination products in Australia and the current intentions on codeine re-classification in New Zealand. Carina is currently a PhD student at the University of Auckland, where she is studying prescription and over the counter opioid dependence, and is a member of the University of Auckland Centre for Addiction research.
