Raw portable food with Julia Kirouac

Raw portable food with Julia Kirouac

On this episode Julia and I discuss her unique journey as an entrepreneur in the health food industry.

This is Julia's story from the "About"page on her website: https://www.nudfud.com/

From a young age, I began asking questions about food. What was in it? What was its environmental impact, where did it come from, how was it made, and, most importantly, was it nourishing? Just because the foods I had eaten were commonly accepted and consumed, did that mean they should continue to be? After all, what is the point of food if it does not provide nourishment on a fundamental level? Can’t we just eat real food?

I am far from alone. Thankfully, more and more people have also been concerned about our food as our health becomes more of a priority. Unfortunately, the food industry does not always address these concerns and continues to churn out products with minimal improvements dressed up in marketing claims and campaigns to distract from the truly meaningful changes that are needed.

While I was a ballet dancer in California, I developed a deeper desire to understand how food impacts our bodies. I was already a vegetarian and loved learning about new ways of eating and culinary techniques. I was exposed to the raw vegan diet and I fell in love with its sorcery. Raw produce was turned into flavourful dishes like pastas, crackers, sauces and desserts. It was like magic!

The Larger Market Formula

The Larger Market Formula

Whether you are a B2B or B2C business, the Larger Market Formula is something that you have to be looking at. This formula will help frame your thought process going into your next marketing cycle.

Many businesses focus on the 3% of the market that is in the "buy now" stage of their buyer journey. However, there is a strategy where you can reach your target audience before they reach the "buy now" stage, meaning that the audience will be familiar with your brand by the time they are ready to make a purchase.

Enjoy this episode where I dive further into why you need to be looking at the Larger Market Formula.

History lesson

History lesson

Today we talked about the New England Patriots as an example for creating a system that creates success regardless of the pieces. Companies that have been around for greater than 50 years survive only by having super star sales people. These people don't exist at scale anymore which is why these companies are in trouble.

Near Misses

Near Misses

Looking back in our career we discussed missed opportunities. These were mostly due to massive gaps in the customer journey as a result of having no real connection between marketing and sales in our companies. These two departments should be consolidated into one. No question!

I would ask everyone that listens to this to take a half day, note pad or white board and map out the gaps in the customer journey. Your clients want a better experience from your brand. Even better, if they aren't asking for it, this is the best time to over deliver.

We need fewer goals.

We need fewer goals.

Recently I was asked about my thoughts around this "Hustle 18 hours a day" culture that everyone is hyping. The truth is, very few are actually achieving this. The real issue is that at the start of each year many think they will work more than ever. This creates a list containing more goals than we will actually have time for. I hope you enjoy my thoughts on this matter. Make sure to let me know yours also.

Episode 1 - The Thesis

Episode 1 - The Thesis

My experience shows that small business owners work incredibly hard to establish the Comfortably Profitable State or CPS. They hustle like their life depends on it to create enough revenue in their business to pay all their expenses, hire necessary employees, and maybe buy a couple of nice items to pad their false security or celebrate their recent hard work.
And that's what CPS is: a false sense of security.
