Issue 26: Marvel News (SDCC2022) *and* DC Cancels Batgirl?!
Issue 26: Marvel News (SDCC2022) *and* DC Cancels Batgirl?!
"It's an incredibly bad look to cancel a Latina Batgirl movie." - Kevin Smith  Erik and Chris return to discuss the latest geek news - with ALL of Kevin Feige's Marvel Phase 5 *and* 6 announcements from this year's San Diego Comic Con 2022! Meanwhile, the new head of Warner Bros decided to cancel not only the (nearly completed) "Batgirl" movie, starring Leslie Grace (and Michael Keaton!), but several other DC projects from the CW and HBO Max (including Kevin Smith's work on "Strange Adventures" an animated anthology which honestly sounded cool as hell) all in an apparent attempt to save $3 billion with a tax loophole, but the move has since apparently backfired causing them to lose $20 billion after pissing off the entire internet, because of course it did. So you know, the usual.  Note: In this episode we accidentally referred to Ezra Miller as 'he' instead of 'they', but mean no disrespect the trans community, just an honest slip up.  Also On This Episode: Our belated reviews on "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" *and* "Thor: Love and Thunder" "She-Hulk" Episode 1 - initial thoughts Artist Spotlight: Tim Sale (RIP) Essential Reads: Fantastic Four!  Marvel Announcements: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Secret Invasion Guardians of the Galaxy - Vol 3 Echo The Marvels  Loki - Season 2 Blade Iron Heart Agatha: Coven of Chaos Daredevil: Born Again Captain America: New World Order Thunderbolts Fantastic Four Avengers: The Kang Dynasty Avengers: Secret Wars DC Cancellations:  Batgirl Supergirl Blue Beetle? (uncertain at this time) Strange Adventures (animated anthology) The Wonder Twins (HBO Max) J. J. Abrams's 'Justice League Dark' projects? (uncertain at this time) The CW / DC shows: The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, etc The Green Lantern Corps (live action HBO series) - update: still up in the air?  Batman: The Caped Crusader (animated series) - update: may be picked up by another streaming service? Issue 23: Catching up on "Crisis on Infinite Earths" (the DC/CW Shows), Alex Ross, and more!
"You have failed this universe." - Oliver Queen *Note: this episode was recorded back in early February, 2022!* An extremely outdated episode where Chris and Erik catch up on what they've been reading, and speculate about things that are already out now, before talking about the DC / CW "Arrow-verse" shows: 'The Flash', 'Supergirl', 'Arrow', 'Legends of Tomorrow', 'Batwoman', etc - now that Erik's finally caught up on the epic "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover!  Also on this Episode:  A brief discussion about "Boba Fett" and "Peacemaker" (full reviews coming soon...?) Chris's thoughts on "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" (2021) and "The Batman" (2022) - check out Podcasters Assemble for more! Spider-man (2002) Spider-man 2 Spider-man 3 The Amazing Spider-man (2012) The Amazing Spider-man 2 Spider-man: Homecoming Spider-man: Far From Home Venom *Note: Although we didn't include "Into the Spider-verse" on our lists, we're planning on covering that one in a future episode. Like our 'Ranking the X-Men Movies', this episode was also recorded several months ago. Also on this episode: What we've been reading (Chris: "The Immortal Hulk" by Al Ewing and Joe Bennett, Erik: Donny Cates's "Guardians of the Galaxy") What we've been watching (CW / DC "Arrow-verse" shows, "The Mandalorian" Season 2) Essential Reads: Spider-man ("Marvel Knights: Spider-man" by Brian Michael Bendis and "Spider-man: Blue" by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale) (Episode edited by Erik Slader) For more random shenanigans, check out our blog at ComicZombie.net - Including our Spider-man movie articles! *Also listen to us on Podcasters Assemble! Issue 9: Ranking the X-Men Movies!
Chris and Erik try and rank all the X-Men movies (so far!) X-Men (2000) X2  X-Men: The Last Stand X-Men Origins: Wolverine X-Men: First Class The Wolverine X-Men: Days of Future Past Deadpool X-Men: Apocalypse Logan Deadpool 2 / Once Upon a Deadpool X-Men: Dark Phoenix *Note: when this episode was recorded (several months ago), we hadn't yet seen "New Mutants", but we reviewed it on the previous episode (Issue #8). We also discuss Tom King's "Mister Miracle", Chip Zdarsky's "Spider-man: Life Story", our initial thoughts on "The Three Jokers", and speculate about the Snyder Cut (see Issue #7 for our review on that one). Issue 8: Invincible *and* Falcon and the Winter Soldier!
Issue 8: Invincible *and* Falcon and the Winter Soldier!
Chris and Erik discuss more Immortal Hulk comics, rumors surrounding the new John Stewart "Green Lantern" film as well as the HBO Max live action 'Green Lantern Corps' series, the "New Mutants" movie, the new "Mortal Kombat" movie, and finally we do a deep dive into both "Falcon and the Winter Soldier" (Disney +) and the all new "Invincible" animated series (Amazon Prime) based on the comics by Robert Kirkman! NOTE: We are painfully aware that Peyton Reed is NOT directing the upcoming MCU Fantastic Four feature film; at one point he was rumored for the position which excited us, but the actual director for the upcoming film is the director of the newest Spider-Man films, Jon Watts. For shame. (Episode edited by Erik Slader and Chris Carroll)   For more random shenanigans (like Erik's Invincible reviews and our recent MK character breakdowns), check out our blog at ComicZombie.net and GeekToGeekMedia!  *Also listen to us on Podcasters Assemble: MORTAL PODKAST! Issue 7: Wandavision *and* Zack Snyder's Justice League!
Chris and Erik spend two hours (after midnight) raving about Marvel's "Wandavision" (Disney+) and Zack Snyder's "Justice League" (HBO Max)!  Also on this episode: our first impressions of "Falcon and Winter Soldier" - Episode 1, "The Immortal Hulk" by Al Ewing and Joey Bennett, "Non-Stop Spider-man" by Joe Kelly and David Finch, the new "Eternals" comics by Kieron Gillen and Esad Ribic, and a brief discussion on what we're looking forward to soon, including James Gunn's "The Suicide Squad", "Black Widow", "Godzilla vs Kong", "Mortal Kombat", and the brand new "Invincible" series! Side note: much like Batfleck in the Snyder Cut, there's a lot more cursing than normal. #RestoreTheSnyderVerse (Episode edited by Erik Slader) For more random shenanigans, check out our blog at ComicZombie.net! *Also listen to us on Podcasters Assemble!
