ConnecTeen Corner

By ConnecTeen Youth Program Coordinator

Do you feel like you can't talk to anyone about your mental health? ConnecTeen Corner is a project launched by ConnecTeen volunteers. We created this with the intent of having open and casual discussions about topics regarding mental health. We hope to contribute to the destigmatization of such topics. Join us as we dive into the world of mental health and talk about things like anxiety, coping strategies and mental well-being from a youth perspective. ConnecTeen is a confidential peer support service for youth in Calgary and area. We are a program of Distress Centre Calgary.

Navigating Relationships: Part Two

Navigating Relationships: Part Two

Relationships are a regular part of your lives. Whether this relationship looks like a friendship, romantic partner, or family members we all have people in our lives that we care deeply about. Navigating the ups and downs of these interactions can quickly become overwhelming and stressful. When it starts to get too much to process on your own it's okay to reach out for help. In this episode, we will be discussing how to navigate the loss of a friendship and how to begin healing the torn bond, how to balance friendships alongside a partner all the while caring for yourself, and lastly we discuss opening up to parents about mental health along with who to reach out to when your home environment doesn't give you the safe space you need to be open about it.

Navigating Relationships: Part One

Relationships are an integral part of our lives. We all want to be in good relationships whether that be with friends or family but sometimes that’s not the case. We have all found ourselves in difficult relationships at some point in our lives and it can be hard to navigate through because many times we just don’t know what to do. So, in this episode we talk about understanding expectations and boundaries and how to navigate them. We also answer a common question “how do I make friends outside of school” and finally we talk about toxic friendships and what to do if you are stuck in one.
