Is There Gay Stuff In It?

Installment 2 of Broadcasts from the Corona Crisis finds Connie and Becca feeling out of sorts due to unexpected routine changes. Spring cleaning is no more, grocery shopping is a combat sport and even TV watching can't soothe them. Bec gives us a tutorial on YouTube and Online selling and Connie relays Curb Your Enthusiasm vagina stories to real world gynecologist complaints. We round out by touching on the Tiger King phenomenon but decide to circle back for a full episode.

We interrupt our regularly scheduled programming to present WGSP: Radio Gay America broadcasts from the Corona Crisis. Connie and Becca coming at you every few days with reports on the more lighthearted aspects of dealing with the Quarantine due to  the Coronavirus Pandemic We give updates on how we are handling being at home and how doing this podcast now feels like one of the Free Zone radio transmissions from the movie Red Dawn. We have some tips for social isolation and how you can spend your time with Queer and Not So Queer Media.  Join us won't you. 

It's a random free for all this episode when Connie and Becca discuss everything from lesbian landscaping culture to the problems with Oscar categories and this years Best Picture winner Parasite. That leads into the Lesbian Fashion Review from two very unfashionable lesbians. Also discussed is the trend of folks retreating back into the safety and comfort of Nostalgia TV when faced with the overwhelming amount of current streaming programs. Connie is rewatching That 70's Show while Becca is very late to the game on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and now loving every minute of it.

In this episode Connie and Becca discuss Grammys, Unbelievable, the many faces of Toni Collette in United States of Tara, and the many familiar faces in Knives Out. The reprise of Lesbian fashion watch, our own personal take on wardrobes of red carpets, covered the take over of country music influenced by the beautiful queer eye, Billy Porter with an innovative way to really block out the haters, and Becca is confused by Orville Peck and Diplo. They discuss why sometimes media is triggering, and helpful all at the same time, and how eloquently Unbelievable was able to bring attention to such an important message. Another important topic of mental health is also covered in United States of Tara where we get a chance to talk about an older show that deserved more attention for its time and messages.

Connie and Becca take up where they left off in Episode 09 Part 1 of the review of the L Word Generation Q series. They unpack all the stuff they love and that drives them crazy about the storylines up to Episode 6.  The topic of Alice's epic Threesome and what that means as she, Nat and Gigi navigate what it means to become a Throuple. They touch on Bette and her bad decisions, Finley and the Priest, Tess' relapse and all the other folks that orbit in and out of the L Word world.

Connie and Becca have a chat about the Golden Globes and the golden reboot of The L Word: Generation Q. They discuss fashion from their own personal lesbian point of view especially Cate Blanchett’s dress, Kate Mckinnon’s sparkle suit, and the abomination that was Gwyneth Paltrow’s outfit and more of their top pick moments of the night. Ellen is then brought up and why so many people in the queer community feel controversy with her. They also begin to cover the massive movement of The L Word: Generation Q, including a short rundown of each character, each storyline, each relationship, and each hook up we have seen to this point. This is part one of their very queer break down of a breakthrough show of what is now two generations.

Connie and Becca discuss memorable Queer and Queer adjacent moments of 2019. Topics include J Lo and the Hustlers movie, Captain Marvel, Kristen Stewart and Charlies Angels, HBO Sundays domination of Good TV including Euphoria, Mrs. Fletcher and Watchmen. They touch on Russian Doll and the OITNB finale from Netflix. Gentleman Jack makes the list of most impactful Queer show. Batwoman and Fallout 76 game are the disappointments for 2019.

Connie and Bec discuss how Atypical on Netflix is first class Queer representation as well as a quality show about a family dealing with Autism and transitions . Also this week we ponder how we can ever catch up on Queer Content after a lifetime of Heteronormative media consumption. We touch on the future of Carmilla and Carmillacon too.

Connie and Guest Co-Host Mark Brickey from Adventures in Design let you know their opinion of the new album from The Highwomen. They talk about the state of women in country radio and how Brandi Carlile, Amanda Shires, Maren Morris and Natalie Hemby hope to start a movement of support and inclusion to spark more success for women in country music. They also discuss their own love of growing up in the 70's and 80's listening to classic country and honky tonk and how The Highwomen album feels like a tour guide for all genres and eras of country - the good stuff. But yes there's also Gay Stuff In It! This album has a true Gay Country Song and we play a clip of that and the other standout tracks we love.

Connie and Becca discuss recent Sad and Gay movies and tv. We deep dive on Tell It To the Bees with Anna Paquin and Holliday Grainger and discover how the movie was altered from the book to make the Queers cry. Then we touch on My Days of Mercy with our lesbian hero Ellen Page and her pal Kate Mara. We ponder if love bloom between two women in the shadow of a Death Penalty Protest. Then we turn to the topic of our 7 year love affair with Netflix's Orange is the New Black and how we coped with and caught feelings during the finale of the popular Queer Lady Prison show. We give quality time to Vauseman, Pennsatucky and Taystee.

Connie and Becca are back after an unexpected delay. We highlight a show that really gives the gays what they want - HBO's Gentleman Jack. We discuss our love for the HBO/BBC period drama about the Gender Non Conforming, possibly Non Binary Lesbian Anne Lister and her search to find a wife in 1800's Halifax. We also talk about the series stars Sophie Rundle and  Suranne Jones and how she's is the perfect actress to play Lister on screen and also touch on the Anne Choma book that decodes Anne Lister's secret diaries of her lesbian conquests and quest to marry a woman. So basically LOTS of LESBIAN this time.

Connie and Becca discuss Fuck, Marry, Kill with Olivia Colman, Rachel Weisz, and Emma Stone from the Favourite, Gay Conversion Therapy movies The Miseducation of Cameron Post and Boy Erased as well as Velvet Buzzsaw. We turn to TV for Netflix's Derry Girls and fan out over Russian Doll with Natasha Lyonne. We finish out with Queer Media Conventions such as Clexacon, CarmillaCon and YouTube focused VidCon.

Connie and Becca discuss Bec and her adventures with Female Companions in Fallout 4 and how Queer you can now make your gaming experience.We touch on the Golden Globes, Sandra Oh, Killing Eve, A Star is Born, Bohemian Rhapsody and other Queer winners and losers from the Awards. Connie speaks on the cool factor of The Favourite and Olivia Colman. We also dive into YOU and Derry Girls on Netflix and our thoughts on lesbians, strong mothers and the shaving habits of 7 year old Becca.

Connie and Bec kick off Season 2 with a variety of Gay and Non-Gay talk. Subjects covered: NASA thinks an all female crew of Astronauts won't have sex. We also touch on Connie's Netflix recommendation of Atypical and how they portray families and  Autism, and a breakdown of what we are still loving about American Horror Story and what we we think are the troubles with it currently.

Season 01 Finale - We're Back!!! Connie and Bec give our 20Gayteen Roundup of what we liked this year and what we are looking forward to rounding out 20Gayteen, the Year of Our Lesbian Jesus. We discuss Disobediance, Lizzy Borden, Wynonna Earp, Twilight and Kristen Stewart, Love Simon, Janelle Monae and Hayley Kiyoko along with our other Queer Media favorites from this year and discuss the Season 02 and the future of the podcast.

Does an actor have to be Queer to play a Queer Role? Connie and Bec discuss this question in relation to the CW casting Ruby Rose as Batwoman. Other topics include a Gay Role casting by Disney for the Jungle Cruise film as well as why Keira Knightley could and should have been bisexual in Pirates of the Caribbean. They also touch on  reimagining classic Queer movies with other actors and Social Media bullying.

Connie talks Season 6 of Orange is the New Black with guest host Bec. Topics include our love of Young Carol and her Big Dick Energy, Daddy and her game and how much we hate Madison. We also touch on our favorite show ship Piper and Alex and how Drugs and Lesbianism help pass the time in prison.  We share our sadness over the system not working for Taystee and Blanca when it comes to justice and immigration.
