Decoding Narcissistic Abuse with Dr Tracy's "Narctionary"

Decoding Narcissistic Abuse with Dr Tracy's "Narctionary"

Dr Tracy is a the Feminine Boss Academy Founder and she helps women from all walks of life on their journey to true self-love. Through her program "Reclaiming Me" she walks with women coming out of narcissistic abuse situations, helps them make sense of what has happened, and how to move forward and thrive in life.

Dr Tracy joins Dan to talk about her new book "Narctionary" which brings together all the "lingo" that is used in the Narcissistic recovery world and is an amazing tool for people who are trying to make sense of what has happened to them. She uses this in her programs and her work with people and finds it is amazingly helpful for people to use this shorthand to explain what is going on for them.

This was a great chat, thanks Dr Tracy for coming on the show!

Kyle is a Life and Relationship Coach and Laura is a Neuromovement practioner and they are both well-versed in Myers-Briggs and cognitive functions. They share how this knowledge has helped their relationship, what hurdles they face as complete opposite types, how they actually have a lot of similarities, and how they have found ways to bring out the best in each other. They are an incredible example of a couple giving each other space to grow and change and allow that to improve and strengthen their relationship.

The Dreaded Drama Triangle - Part 1

Do you find yourself stuck in relational dynamics that are just never-ending drama? You want to break out of it, but feel powerless to the pull of the drama and the familiar cycles.  On this episode we share a very simple and yet profound model to look at these dynamics called the Drama Triangle. You will hear:  - what is the Drama Triangle and how it shows up in popular culture, religious stories and our everyday lives and relationships. - explanation of the 3 roles in the triangle: the Victim, the Rescuer and the Persecutor.  - an example of how this can look in a family system  - how you might feel like you're playing one role but the other people in the dynamic see you as something else And don't miss part 2 next week when we cover the healthy flip side to the Drama Triangle - the Empowerment Dynamic.  Some more great info on the Drama Triangle:  https://www.mygrow.me/the-drama-triangle/ Find more info into Dan's practice HERE Book an appointment with Dan HERE Stay Curious!

This is our third episode in the series on the Gottman's "Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse" . Dan and Caitlin discuss contempt: what it looks like, what is behind it, and why it is the number one predictor of divorce. We also discuss what the antidote is - what you can do about it if you see it in your relationship, and how to avoid it in the first place.

Defensiveness in Relationships: Why Does it Happen, Why is it so Bad and What can we do About it? (Gottman's second Horseman of the Apocalypse)

Dan and Caitlin discuss the second of the Gottman Institute's 4 Horsemen: Defensiveness.

Do you find in your relationship that whenever one of you bring up an issue, the other person gets immediately defensive and either shuts down or goes on the attack? This is a common issue, and one that can lead to much worse dynamics in the future if it's not addressed. The good news is, though, that there is an antidote and ways to change this pattern!
