EP15: How Does Tech Influence Who We Follow
We all know that our interactions on social media shape the content we see. It’s a fundamental of the algorithm, designed to maximise screen time and deliver an engaged, interested audience to the advertiser. But what about the people we connect with? Is it really just the who-knows-who connectedness that I always assumed, or does the tech guide us, like the hand of fate ensuring that two people meet where and when they should? In this episode, Jam answers the questions and might make you want to revisit the people you follow.

EP14: The Clubhouse App: The Next Big Thing In Audiocasting
Clubhouse is the new player in social media. An invitation-only, audio-only app, where members address the room “live” from a virtual stage, Clubhouse sounds good, at least in theory. Forums, discussions groups, virtual talks and even concerts. In this episode of The Conversologist, Jam Mayer and Rew Shearer chew the fat on audio’s pros and cons, the culture shift of social media, and first impressions of a new social media app. This conversation was unscripted and spontaneous, top-level thoughts only - we’d love to get your thoughts, as we may revisit the Clubhouse app as a topic. EP11: Now We're Talking! Voice Is The New Buzz
When Apple released its voice interface in late 2011, watching somebody shouting at their phone repeatedly was good comic relief. Many of us would wait for a quiet moment alone before daring to ask our phone a question. Today, via the likes of Alexa and Siri, more and more of us are confidently using voice as our UI. Searching, calling, composing and sending messages, an interface that is arguably the most natural we have. More than half of India’s Internet users are doing it. Voice search is seeing massive growth in Asia - India, China, and Indonesia being the top three. And importantly, voice is used more by the younger generation: under 35s are leading the change. Why should we be listening to the talk about voice? What are the threats? What are the opportunities? What does it mean for the UX writer or chatbot developer? In this episode Rew Shearer and Jam Mayer touch on the topic. And why not? Podcast is the new blog. 🙂 Hootsuite Q3 Global Digital Statshot / LinkedIn Live Video Episode 7 - Why Do We Hate Chatbots?
