In this episode, we follow the career of Dan's friend and colleague, Nathan Lithgow. Nate is an American Expat who, through a twist of fate, joined Dan in London in 2021 after a decade-long career in hospitality and wine in New York City. Trained as a chef and sommelier, he opened the smoked-meat speakeasy Holy Ground NYC in 2018.

Since relocating to London, Nathan's experience and entrepreneurial spirit has been a significant asset to Dan's e-commerce brand Good Wine Good People. Negronis, friendship, BBQ pairings – this episode has it all!

For this week's episode, host Paul Brady speaks with his friend Kat Thomsen a creative director, writer & editor currently based in San Francisco.

During their conversation, they discuss getting the most out of visiting wine country.

Winemaker Anthony Nappa has made wine around the world and found a home within the unique maritime climate of Long Island, where he makes wine under his own name as well as for the sizable North Fork winery, Raphael. He is one of the most knowledgeable on the subjects of sustainable agriculture and climate change and produces wines that are both excellent and true to place.

Finger Lakes grape grower extraordinaire Mike Colizzi joins host Paul Brady on A Northern Wine Odyssey for a chat about the second wave of hybrid grapes to hit the East Coast of the U.S. back in the early part of the 20th century. Colizzi grows riesling, cabernet franc, and blaufrankisch in his vineyard on the west side of Seneca Lake -- most of which goes to the highly regarded winery Hermann J. Wiemer -- but is also on the staff at the Cornell Agriculture Extension Station in Geneva, where he works in the grape breeding department helping to develop new hybrid varieties, making him the perfect person to have a finger on the pulse of modern cold and extreme climate growing.

Brittany Gibson, Executive Director of the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, joins host Paul Brady on A Northern Wine Odyssey to talk about a few Seneca Lake wineries who scored big at the New York Classic Competition, and about how you can use wine trails as a resource to help plan your New York wine country trip.
