Hidradenitis suppurativa is a chronic skin disease that I’ve been dealing with for nearly two years that has drastically affected my life. While there is no cure, I’m taking steps to maintain this condition. H.S. causes me to be irritable on a daily basis due to the constant pain but I’m making the best of it with prescribed medication. Our grief monster has a way of making us feel as though we are trapped in  the middle of a horror movie with that antagonist closing in. We are  gripped with fear, our heart pounding out of our chest, tears streaming  down our face, and no sign of hope...but soon the sun rises and that  monster that was terrorizing us through the night is far less intimidating in the light. Once confronted, we realize this beast can be tamed by forming healthy habits of dealing with our grief. We can begin to experience post traumatic growth and soon that brute that was trying to kill us is on a leash, leaving us in complete control.
