Episode 42: Community over Competition, with Mallory Scalise

Mallory is one of Pittsburgh’s Premier Boudoir Photographers, specializing in women’s portraiture. Her mission is to help women feel empowered and beautiful. We give all our love to others, but sometimes we forget that we deserve it too. Mallory Scalise of Mallory Scalise Photography LLC is dedicated to empowering women, and showing them how to feel sexy and confident in their own skin. Why? Because every single woman deserves to feel that way. Everyone has their own reason to pursue boudoir, but with each shoot, Mallory works with her clients to create breathtaking images, and above all, a lasting experience basked in capturing the self-love we all deserve. "As a mother of two, I truly resonate with the feeling of losing ones identity after childbirth.  You are reborn into this whole other being... and at times it is difficult to understand, connect, and truly accept this new part of yourself that you do not recognize.  I love working with ALL WOMEN, regardless of their journey in life.  Momma's have a special place in my heart as I am also just as passionate about birth work.  Boudoir photography goes hand in hand with the birth world as it is imperative to celebrate your pregnancy and postpartum journey.  Women are BAD ASS.  Truly masterpieces.  Our bodies deserve to be praised for the wonder that they are!" Episode 35: Small Steps - Big Impact, with Michelle Colella

Episode 35: Small Steps - Big Impact, with Michelle Colella

Michele Colella is the City Owner of The Beauty Boost Pittsburgh, a vibrant community for those who identify as women to become their most healthy, empowered, and beautiful selves through regular events and activities–from fitness sessions to empowerment and entrepreneur workshops, social gatherings, and weekend retreat getaways–creating opportunities for personal growth, genuine connection, and a good time. With over 100 active small business collaborations and a community and event attendee base of over 1,000, The Beauty Boost is reshaping how women in Pittsburgh connect.

Michele, a former fitness competitor and health and life coach with over a decade of counseling experience, found herself at a transitional point. Grappling with career changes, a breakup, and outgrown friendships, she yearned for friendship with like-minded women and took a brave step by attending a coffee meet-up she found online alone. The Beauty Boost hosted that meetup, and Michele walked away with more than she could have imagined. She took ownership of the Pittsburgh chapter, one of 25 nationwide, within two years of her first experience. Michele’s journey from member to owner underscores one of her strongest beliefs: monumental change often starts with small, courageous steps.

She rekindled her passion for empowering women to create joy-filled, healthy lives. She fell back in love with fitness, food, and life through her own personal journey. She did things that scared her–things she didn't think she was strong enough to do–and discovered she was more than capable. Michele began living in her authentic self. There's magic in connecting with other women; you never know how one interaction could impact your life.

Episode 18: No Weapon, with Simon Arias

Simon Arias was born in Youngstown, Ohio and was able to find his path as a leader on the football field at a young age. Simon played at Youngstown-Ursuline High School, leading his team to a state championship in his senior year. This led to a scholarship at Mercyhurst University, where Simon earned his bachelor's degree.

Following graduation, Simon was hired by the Surace-Smith Agency of American Income Life and quickly climbed the ranks, becoming a regional manager within his first year.

Simon opened his first Arias Agencies location in Pittsburgh in 2008. Today, Arias Agencies has grown to over 20 locations, making it the largest individual producing agency in the U.S. under the Globe Life umbrella.

In 2016, Simon partnered with his mentor & long-time friend, Marcus Smith to start Cash Money Consulting, a consulting firm aimed at coaching other State General Agents within American Income Life and National Income Life.

Growing up in a tough neighborhood, Simon knew what it meant to have good role models. Inspired by the influences of his family and coaches, Simon has taken it upon himself to seek out young people, oftentimes from a similar background, to mentor in hopes to lead them toward the path of greatness. In 2015, Simon partnered with Inspiring Minds to open IM Youngstown. In 2021, Simon started another youth program in Pittsburgh, Steel City Impact.

Simon has his own podcast, The Grind-Cast, which can be found here.
